Changes I think could improve Halo Infinite

This is a list of changes I think could improve the overall gameplay in Halo Infinite.

  1. Aiming – One of Infinites biggest issues is it is aiming. In previous Halos, aiming was simply a relaxed/smooth response curve that was slowed down by aim assist as you neared your target. Once the reticle meets the target, it provides a small “stickiness.” When the reticle leaves the target, the response curve restarts. Thus, providing normal aim. I would love to see an option to change the response curve and aim assist styles in the setting menu in a future update.

  2. Grenades – In previous Halos, grenades had a sense/feeling of weight behind them. They never bounced super far when they hit an object. While I understand that you are a Spartan which can lift a Warthog, for gameplay purposes, I would like to see grenades become a little heavier with a little less bounce. And under no circumstances should grenades have magnetism.

  3. Shield regeneration – Sprint exists within this game, and therefore shield regeneration time has been increased. While this is a smart idea, I think it is a tad bit too long. I would like to see it shortened by maybe a second or two. Especially since Halo Infinites spawn system consistently puts people behind you.

  4. Spawns – Speaking of spawns, these need major work. Under no circumstances should someone/myself spawn in someone’s line of sight or with an enemy team. There needs to be some work done in this area.

  5. Input-based matchmaking – I personally do not mind crossplay. I understand why cross-play exists, and I understand that there really isn’t much difference between new next-gen consoles and the average PC. With that being said, this game needs input-based matchmaking options. Playing against M&KB players on a controller is not fun and playing against controller on M&KB is also not fun. The best solution is just to add input-based matchmaking like MCC.

  6. Desync/servers – This one has been explained a million times. The issue still exists, and I am glad to see small improvements. But it is time for a massive update that tackles this issue altogether. This needs to be an “all hands on deck” type of fix. And it is needed sooner rather than later.

  7. Block feature - I would love the ability to block people who are cheaters or toxic in general.

This is just a small list. Many of these have been talked about before, but this is my priority list and what I see as Halo’s main problems. What do y’all think? Anything else I should add?

Community ideas: (Please try to keep feedback gameplay related, as there is plenty of threads about customization, the store, and the campaign, thank you.)

From kasonac2012:

  • make the social and community aspect more appealing. Make it an option to stick with other players after a match for the next match when you find a team you play well with. It would be nice to see an option to do a quick fireteam invite at the end of game lobby or in the stats screen. I know the player count prob isn’t high enough but having a mic/ no mic team setting would help pair people with mics so that people actually can communicate with each other. maybe proximity chat with other team when they get close but that prob would be mostly toxic comments so not sure on that one.

  • Rematch vote for close games. Same teams.

From PL_Zywy:

  • player collision - keep it off for your teammates, so that you don’t push and interrupt each other, but also apply no collisions for nades, because I think there’s nothing more frustrating than someone walking through you as you’re tossing a nade only to have it bounce off his back and explode right into your face… While at the sane time turn the player collision on for the oponents, because the mess and confusion that’s going on when you suddenly encounter rach other and just run in circles through each others until someone’s teammate joins the party.

From Spikanor:

  • Permanent ranked and social playlist as seen in previous Halos.

  • Option to vote/veto map or gametype.

From Silent_Guck

  • Player collision.

From LethalQ

  • Challenge system is a bonus on top of XP earned by medals and gameplay.

From Naqser

  • BTB balanced vehicle spawns: “The pelicans coming down with random vehicles csn throw the match wildly on anyone’s favour.
A Scorpion for one team and a standard Warthog is going into the Scorpion side’s team. Make vehicle spawns symmetrical.”

Great idea. I would love to see an easy way to match up with people post-match.

Totally agree, overall HI has become more fun but there’s still tons of work and specific issues to be addressed, me in particular have a lot of issues with de sync

Very good points. I’d add to that nerfing melee, both its damage and cooldown, because t’s really ridiculous that a single button prompt completely obliterates the whole shield and like 60-70% of HP. This leads to situations where you put let’s say 12 bullets into someone, they shoot you 4 times, and you end up killing each other with melee while you’ve put 3x the bullets… I mean, the whole kill feed on FFA looks like a Mortal Kombat rather than a shooter that Halo is supposed fo be.

Another thing the game severely struggles with is AFKers just kick put someone after 10s of inactivity just like other hanes do it.

Also following things after playing some matches today:

  • player collision - keep it off for your teammates, so that you don’t push and interrupt each other, but also apply no collisions for nades, because I think there’s nothing more frustrating than someone walking through you as you’re tossing a nade only to have it bounce off his back and explode right into your face… While at the sane time turn the player collision on for the oponents, because the mess and confusion that’s going on when you suddenly encounter rach other and just run in circles through each others until someone’s teammate joins the party.

-8s respawns are too long given how fast it takes to capture objectives vs how far the game respawns you, while spring barely increases your speed. Most of the time you are being respawned on the very far opposite end of the map, by the time you respawn and make three steps it’s already too late, on Launch Site you’re even already late for the next objective sometimes. 3s (or at very least 5s) would be ideal given there’s no killcam and you’re just staring at your corpse which provides you… nothing, while you’re hopelessly losing the game in the meantime.

-some balancing when it comes to vehicles, anything, shooting cooldown would be a good starting point for sure, maybe some sort of self danage whenever you ram a wall/ground because it’s comical how easily you can frag with a Banshee just hitting that boost and nosediving into the ground and immediately fly away up again, without any lenalty whatever. Ground vehicles also feel broken as the very second you touch the boost you instantly get a kill, while the vehicle still hasn’t picked up any speed at all, looks/feels like you’re getting kills just by standing still next to someone. Also keep in mind the vehicles should be differently balanced for standard modes and BTB.

Great idea on player collision. I added it to the above list. Personally, I think the respawn timer is fine.

All this and a game type filter. Heck, basically everything from the MCC that for some terrible reason didn’t get carried over.

Input based matchmaking would probably be a death sentence to those who play KBM, like it was when the MCC implemented it, and you saw topics later asking why KBM players had to wait significantly long times in order to find any match.

Hell, they tried to request ( multiple times ) that anyone who uses KBM should be prioritized into KBM only matches first, even if they have it set to not having a preference if they played KBM or controller players lol. I kindly requested that they screw off, don’t force us into this type of situation because you aren’t satisfied with what you got lol.

It’s a situation of too little too late most likely.

What? There are currently WAY more PC players than console, literally every single match has at least half of them, sometimes there’s just me, and maybe some other guy who play on console, like the game is completely dead on XB or something. So no, separating the platforms wouldn’t hurt the game at all, quite the opposite.

I believe there have been reported to be a lot more console players then PC, not to mention of the people who play on PC, a larger chunk use controllers.

There’s probably more KBM players now thanks to the update, but I need actual real numbers from all platforms before I’d agree to the implementation of input-based matchmaking.

Not sure what world you live in, but the PC population is almost non-existent. 90% of all games are console players. And the game remains in the top 25 of the most-played games on Xbox. Out of the maybe 10% of PC players, less than a quarter play on M&KB.

It’s just a suggestion. M&KB players hate playing against controller players, and controller players hate playing against M&KB players. Just seems like it would be a good fix. The reason M&KB would die is because of all the other issues like desync. That’s the true cause of the low player population.

its a good idea to make a thread like that so its also easyer for the developers to see it on 1 thread then in a lot off diffrend one’s.

maybe if i can ask for point 5 from the list that you also add the crossplay between platforms most become a options also and not the input only but also between the platforms.

and here is something to add also on the list.

  • ranked and social permanente playlist’s are needed hard and like we all remember from the older halo game’s.

  • give the campaign also good content it needs that its keep fun to play it since its now compleet boring after you compleet all the story missions and the other small mini missions.

I can’t accommodate this request. There is absolutely nothing wrong with crossplay. There is no advantage on either system (unless still on X1), and most cheating is modded controllers, which can be used/found on any platform.

Limiting crossplay would only hurt the player population even more, which as a result, would kill the game quicker.

I will add this.

This is already in the works.

I really think we need the option to remain with the same team after a game. Halo 3 had a feature where you could all remain in the same lobby after a match ends.

in the state the game is now i understand its not a good idea but if its become better then there get this request again like last year after few day’s people are asking to make it a option and stop with the force.

for the campaign i hope really its not only new story line content but also something you can enjoy on the long therm like a boss raid or something like that.

add the vote game type system to it.

This option is already mentioned above. But I agree, great idea.

For even I dont have a problem with the current state of the store due to bigger issues like desync, we really need an option for one-item purchases, and bundles be really that bundles

Basically the same point as staying with a same team but a rematch option would be sweet for those close games that are really fun. as long as everyone had the option to ready up and replay it should be easy as it takes the second round of matchmaking away.

I agree; great idea. Currently trying to keep this particular post about gameplay vs. store/cosmetics etc…

I agree; I’ll add it to the list. Great idea!
