Change your Shield Output with the D-Pad

It goes like this.
This idea came from the novel Fall of Reach, Chief is able to change and configure the output of his shields. For example, when he walks over a minefield, he diverts most of the power to his feet. So using the D-pad, this could be a game mechanic.

DOWN - Shields to feet - Negates fall damage, also gives explosive damage resistance

SIDE - Shield to hands - For weapons that overheat, keep them firing and whatnot. Melee with hand-shields knocks a guy back? Smack cars away and other cool stuff.

UP - Shields to head - Resistance to headshots, at the cost of visiblility.

Reset your shields to full spread using the other side of the D-pad.

Let me know what you think, and add your own ideas.

Wut. No.

I think it’s pretty easy to understand, you just have to read it.

That’s an interesting concept. Let me think about it.

It’s a very interesting concept, but I don’t know if it would carry over to gameplay that well. If it does make it in, it shouldn’t be such a game changer. Maybe a certain spots in the campaign and firefight?

Campaign is probably the best place for this, the Mk VII suit he starts with would have it. If I were him, I’d take a Forerunner combat skin as soon as I could…

It would have to take some time between switches so that it won’t become overpowered.

Interesting concept.

This would be awesome for campaign, I think they should do a metroid sort of thing were he gains this ability at certain points

Reminds me of the different modes from Crysis 1 & 2

It could add some strategy to the gameplay, but would force 343i to adjust the game itself to those “new options” and could otherwise piss off some people…

no

agreed, and the MC is a Spartan 2, not a Spartan 3, so he can take the fall damage a lot easier than the Spartan 3s.
But it would be nice to be able to for a split second ramp up the shield out put, to take on some heavy damage, but then after 2 secs, overload and EMPs near by vehicles, and shields, but also kills your shields.

… Nah, I think the actual shield system is better ('cept for the Bullet Bleed-Through, it sucks, thats why it was removed in CE)
