In all due seriousness, I respect you as a Game Dev 343, but not for Halo 4. After watching that video, I remember how legendary Halo’s matchmaking used to be. I remember how much enjoyment I got out of Halo’s matchmaking. I hardly see any competitiveness in Halo 4, I never saw any in Reach. Halo 4 is a good Halo, I enjoy it, but not as much as maybe Halo 2 and 3, those were the pinnacle of Halo’s matchmaking. Seeing thousands of players on each day. Do any of you guys remember that? Halo 2’s day? The fustration of everyone when MS announced the shutdown of the Halo 2 servers and how many people played until the last second? THAT WAS HALO
Theres change in this game that doesn’t need to even be here. Some of the AA’s don’t even need to be AA’s. Sprint is ok, I don’t mind it but some gametypes have no need for it!! You bring in playlists at launch but fail to deliver the playlists that have been popular since Halo 2. I really can’t think of anything else to say. I don’t know what else to say, I’ve exahausted every direction, some of us exhausted every direction to come and try to have 343 see, we want Halo, but not in the state that it currently is. That video should be enough to explain.
I believe Halo Reach was still better than Halo 4, at least at the moment.
I think Nostalgia is kicking in.
Remember, the forums were flooded with anti-Halo 2 remarks.
Just as Halo 4 is now.
halo has really unnecessarily been changed hasn`t it?
although halo has definitely been improved/downgraded in some ways, halo has also gone through some really pointless (and gamebreaking) changes.
a great example would be flinch, I think an explanation is a tad bit unnecessary.

Halo 4’s gotten more hate in the past 2 months then Reach did. Nostalgia isn’t the point however. Not very many enjoy Reach or Halo 4. Halo 3 still has players. Halo 2 Vista still has players. Halo CE still has a lot of servers still going to this day. The Reach TU didn’t make anythibng more enjoyable. I highly doubt the Halo 4 TU will either, but I have my hopes.

Sadly it has, took me a while to finally realize that unfortunately. I once defended this game, and I still do for certain things, but not for most.
OP,
Halo 4 is a great game. At its peak, almost every Halo game has gone through player withdrawals to the point only a limited amount of people remained to play on a day-to-day basis.
You don’t get better by keeping things the same, you don’t get better by not making changes like Reach to 4 did. You get better by altering the landscape and giving players something new to enjoy.
Where that has always ended is the basic notion of what you find fun about it. If you can’t enjoy it, then relax and find another FPS to play.
Halo 4 is not only better then Halo 2 in many regards, but the situations involving it when we compare positives versus negative simply can’t be counted. Not saying Halo 2 was bad, I enjoyed it like few actually remember, but nostalgia and selective memories is only going to hurt your judgments when it comes to things like this.

the reach TU made the game signifigantly better, but thats neither here nor there.

The Halo 2 hate was just as bad as Halo 4’s is. I even remember being convinced that Halo 2 was a bad game. I also jumped on that hate bandwagon back then for a little while. Just as people jump on the hate-halo 4 bandwagon.
The Halo 2 TU made significant changes and improvements. But the hate still continued until Halo 3 came out.
The same will happen and is occurring with Halo 4.
“THAT WAS HALO”
SO IS THIS
It’d be silly to imagine everyone’s going to like the new stuff. Alot of people didn’t like Halo 2 when it came out either, or Halo 3, or, of course, Reach; they too said “this isn’t Halo”. But not liking it does not disqualify it as a Halo game; it makes it a Halo game you don’t like.

Halo 4 may be better then Halo 2 in your eyes but it not in my eyes. But please, don’t defend the game blindly and come at me with a line like that. I do enjoy Halo 4, I said that I did. But it can be better then it is in it’s current state.

It’s not nostalgia. The first 3 Halos were the best. Every Halo has been hated on but Halo 4 is getting the most hate by far because it is the worst Halo so far.

I know, this is Halo, just not a Halo game that some people want. Where is the competitiveness in this game? Theres clearly none!! Where are the balance of 4v4 and 8v8 maps? There isn’t any! I know people won’t like the new features that Halo has to offer, but some of these Call of Duty like aspects don’t have a place in the Halo franchise. Kill-cams for instance are laggy as hell which is why the final kill-cam got removed again after 343 tried to re-engage it. Halo 4 doesn’t cater to the competitive community as much as it should cater to it.

Exactly my point. Reach and Halo 4 are the two most Hated Halo titles right now. Halo 2 got hate as well, but still there were upon thousands still playing that game.

They just tried to hard to copy COD and it ended up backfiring. I thought the killcams would be cool if they only showed the very last kill of the game not every single one. That way it would not give people hints as to where people were hiding while the game was still going on.
GoldJacobson: People saying Halo 2 was more competitive are not being affected by nostalgia they are just using their brain. You just can’t accept that the Halo game you’re investing a lot of your time in is the worst of the series.

I actually agree with that. But at the same time, COD did copy elements from Halo also and well Ghost Recon. I wasn’t expecting the replies, I’ve been getting with this thread however. I want Halo 4 to have potential, but sometimes you have to take a step back and look at how Halo was successful to start with and then move from there and improve.
> Halo 4 may be better then Halo 2 in your eyes but its not in my eyes.
You really missed the mark of what I was trying to say.
No game is better then another. The way I see video games is not like the standard player, I see the system and the corresponding elements as additions or contributions to the system.
Their is things every Halo game has which separates it and makes it better then all others including games across different genre’s. What this comes down to, as I said, is a personality and likable element to people.
When you see things like that, the DMR being OP’d like others suggest, the boltshot’s overall shotgun ability, etc. are only factors for a player to work with, around, etc…
This is not about Halo being better then Halo 2. That is purely subjective. If you asked my opinion, then I would explain I enjoy elements of all Halo games, but I enjoy a lot of elements with Halo 4 more then Halo 2.
> But please, don’t defend the game blindly and come at me with a line like that. I do enjoy Halo 4, I said that I did. But it can be better then it is in it’s current state.
I can agree. Then again, I can say that about every video game though, not just Halo related…
