The feature was probably incomplete, hence why it was not selectable. Maybe in the upcoming Infinite test, players will be allowed to customize these settings.

In the last flight you could customise those features in the Waypoint app on the phone, access to which was hiding in the Insider Profile section of the current version of Waypoint.
Although there isn’t a flight currently active, so I don’t really know what OP is talking about.
