The literal entire point of Oddball is to turn it into a 3v4. Not a 4+v4
Now theyâve created the opposite problem, where the carrier is so squishy and weak that nobody wants to play the objective. Being the carrier sucks in this game, doubly so if you have a bad team.
Thatâs putting it lightly, it takes 22 body hits to get a kill with the plasma pistol.
So almost like the current feel of the Gravity Hammer minus the ranged effect?
Same with Oddball, Iâve played plenty of the mode and I still feel the same way, it should be a one-hit kill.
The more I play of this game the more I come to realise this is Halo with training wheels. Itâs not for Halo fans who have played the previous games, itâs for the new incoming crowd of players who want everything handed to them on a silver plate.
Why bother learning the nuances of the game when the game does everything for you.
Iâve read the post about why they changed the one-hit-kill with flags and skulls, and 343âs perspective on changing makes sense, but I think they lost sight of what actually happens in public games. Because you canât select what game mode you want to play there are plenty of players who get put into a lobby of oddball, realize that it is really unfun to get shot and grenade spammed constantly while going for the skull, and proceed to never play objective again.
The change to one-hit-kill on objective objects is entirely dependent on every players trying their hardest to play the objective when that really isnât that case all the time. Attempting the objective NEEDS to be satisfying and rewarding for the player who chooses to go for the flag or skull, otherwise nobody is going to want to do it, and those who do are just going to be left frustrated with the fact they donât have any advantage whatsoever.
Agreed, this is another one of the crap changes theyâve made.
Having to rely on your team for defense who, 90% of the time, are probably randoms and are running away from you as if you carry the plague, not the Oddball or flag, is really quite a bad design choice. If my team are on the other side of the map constantly pushing daisies, I would like some manner of defence that doesnât require me to drop the objective.
I like the H5 approach. Holding a pistol when you had the flag.
Similar to that, just no wind up time for the first melee. Repeat melee, make it just like the hammer swing time frame and I think youâve got a decent middle ground.
Hopefully once the game hits retail release weâll get more specific playlists and the people in object types will actually want to be there.
Just no, it would get op and the better team with better players would be at advantage making it nearly impossible for worse team to do anything.
The whole point to win is that your team is in general better, so that if you are at disadvantage, you can still win, but that gives opening to other team to do something. Which keeps the match dynamic instead of having one team to dominate, and keep the skull whole match.
The point of the mode is that your team protects you, you all band together and try to survive. Not that you become one hit killing maching charging everyone. This would completely screw up whole dynamic of the match.
So if you want to boring matches where better team just obliterates the other team, then definitely change it to one hit kill.
Itâs always been a one hit kill before and nobody complained about it and it should be a one hit kill for the carrier now.

Agreed. Canât even sprint either, so you canât effectively defend yourself and running away doesnât work.
110% agree. Now that it isnât a one hit kill youâre so vulnerable thereâs actually little point picking it up. Why on earth they changed this is beyond me.
Agreed. I had the skull once and smacked a player with it to then redirect my attention somewhere else because I assumed it would take just one hit. Of course it didnât one hit kill so that player was able to take me out.
Well the game is lame as -Yoink!- for the carrier. Screw their staticâsâŚ. Go back to how it was before 343 took over. Flag and Ball one hit.
I concur. I did a whole post giving feedback and this was in my post. This is true for the Power Weapons like the sword and Grav Hammer.
