One thing I never understood is the peoples shout for CHANGE!
Look at Call of Duty, everyone complained about it being the same Call of Duty every year but then when they introduced change (Exo’s and Abilities) everyone denounced them for it. There is something to be said for that, change doesn’t always mean better. Back in the day when I popped a Call of Duty game in, I knew I was going to get the same exact experience I expected.
This is going somewhere trust me. Halo however, since the move over to 343i has adopted the mindset that dramatic change is what we want when simply put, it isn’t (or at least isn’t for me). When I put Halo in, I expect to play Halo but it just seems that Halo 4 and 5 were so out of the ordinary that it’s just a turn off. Look at all the Halo’s up too Halo Reach, yeah they were different but they built on top of one another so well! It was fundamentally Halo just with tweaks.
A good example of a series doing this right is Battlefield, look at how they innovate with every installation and yet when you play them you know exactly what experience you should expect.
I could go on in detail about each games pros and cons. I could tell you of my envisioned perfect Halo but the mains points are there and additional text will only take away from the post. I want to know you’re approach to this dramatic changes, do you agree or disagree and why. Share your thoughts.

> My example is that when someone buys a sequal they usually do it because they enjoyed the previous installment and want more of that experience.
That’s exactly true. In fact it’s the premise of my post.
Depends on what change you’re talking about.
I’d prefer if they introduced new innovative game modes(forge, certain custom games) instead of wasting crucial development time and messing with the gameplay that was appreciated and already there. Maybe small things like equipment, thrusters, or possibly double jump/clamber could be added but nothing that majorly changes up the gameplay. In the end, people usually look for consistent gameplay that is used in different ways in sequels to provide a new experience.
No, we definitely needed 280 emblems and 31 BR’s and 59 visors that you can’t even SEE in matchmaking. And we definitely didn’t want any content at launch. Nor did we want the ability to play this social team game with friends on the same console. In fact, we REALLY wanted to be required to be online to play campaign or forge.
Oh wait, no. We didn’t want any of that. 343i really has their finger on the pulse of modern gamers.
I want my favourite games to progress and evolve, but not at the cost of removing what brought us to the franchise in the first place. Halo 5 is too clean, ie shiney armour, they removed blood, why not just have the option to turn off gore. Split screen gone, I don’t miss it but others do, no firefight or infection, that’s getting addressed. The list goes on,
Then, they don’t add what we ask for, UNSC vehicles, space combat, regional server selection. The list goes on,

They have evolved to make it less skill full and flawed then previous entries

No, I don’t agree, when the servers work in arena, and you get fairly balanced teams, this game is balanced and needs skill. It’s not consistant, even with the mm option they added.

Sorry I should of been more specific in my post, change and innovation in modes and new ways to play are absolutely crucial to the games lifespan and playability. It’s the gameplay that doesn’t require change, to an extent might I add.

This post certainly made me laugh a little, it makes me wonder how they conduct there market research of what people want. I suppose they could just throw mechanics together and hope it sticks XD!

It’s important to note that its getting addressed like you said and that’s why I can still hold hope for future titles but again, I have to ask; are we so deep into a new-Halo like experience that we can’t go back? By that I mean would 343 willing revert back to the old mechanics or would they see that as defeat and shame. It makes me wonder and it also makes me nervous.
You gotta make the game fun for you. You can’t just play and get mad at the game because of every little thing. Play with some friends or something. Everything changes at some point and we just have to move on. Think of it this way, elders don’t like the fact that we have all this devices because they are used to the old time however, we love them and can’t get off them. Same with Halo, 343 is trying to get more people in to the game with change. Newer players will love this…
I’m not even fond of the changes from Halo Ce to Halo 2. So you can imagine how I feel about the far more radical changes of the recent games.
Who doesn’t actually want games to progress? No one, that’s who. However not everyone agrees on what progress is. I certainly don’t think that drifting further from Halo’s core gameplay and artistic identity entails “progress”.
Yet fans of modern Halo will use terms like progress and evolve anyways. Why? Because those terms make anyone who disagrees with the person using them automatically look like a backwards simpleton simply because of the connotations associated with those terms. You’ve lost before the debate has even began because they’ve relied on such underhanded tactics.
“You just hate change.” It’s the same old nonsense. I mean for starters how do we even define and qualify change anyways? Something as simple as adding a new gun is still technically change.

They could do both, put in a classic playlist, and have the newer ones. I have no issue with Halo 5 as far as movement goes, but the older games feel too slow. Why not just have a playlist with increased base speed ? My problem is not what Halo 5 is, it’s what we’ve lost to get there. I’m also an older gamer, I prefer more mature content, Halo 5 seems to be aimed at the teens. It’s too clean. If e sports is what they want, that can also be done in addition to, not at the expense of.

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH… Balanced??? No it is not… Ranks are not even close to balance… Always playing against 1 or 2 ranks higher than myself and have come across Onyx players too who can sometimes be tougher than the rest but I like the competitiveness and try dominate the higher ranks… Sometimes I get raped… However the point is that it aint ranked… And the only reason i am in a lower rank because the random -Yoink- team you play with lose all the time… Much better to play with people in fireteam instead… how can my rank go down when I still gain a positive KDA/KD? Lol

Stop shouting and being rude. I never mentioned ranks. I simply stated when the servers work, as in not lagging, and you get fairly balanced teams (3v3 or 4v4) not 1v4 you get a balanced game that’s competitive.

Okay, I understand where you are coming from but by changing to appeal to new players surely we would of seen a population increase? Yet non is evident, I’ve even heard that the opposite is true but I have no evidence of this so I can’t say for sure. Instead what we have is a plague of frustrated veteran players complaining that the Halo the long and love for is being morphed into something else, something they don’t want. Regardless don’t take this post as me bashing, in honesty I’m rather neutral within the topic. Sure I have my ideal halo game but I don’t feel the burning passion to announce it too everyone and scream at those that disagree with me.
