I’ve been thinking about getting Infinite on both Xbox and pc, and that got me wondering if the game will be an Xbox “play anywhere” title, meaning I only have to buy the game once to play it on both platforms. I noticed the recent Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a “play anywhere” title, which raised my hopes that Xbox is doing this for all their future Xbox+pc releases. However, Infinite will also be available on Steam, which may reduce its chances of happening.
Thoughts?
buy it from the windows store and shouldn’t be an issue?

What exactly does play anywhere mean again? Regardless I say that the more people we can get to play Halo, the better. That way we can have the healthiest population, but it must be a good game to retain the new players.
This has been confirmed, although I’m not sure where this was announced.
343 have said that if you buy the game you can then download it on any other platform. This made me quite happy as I plan to buy the Series X but not right at release. I’ll probably wait a couple years as I only just got my XB1 two years ago.

When a game is labeled “Xbox Play Anywhere” in a Microsoft-based store, you can buy the game on one platform and have it freely available to download on another. Gears of War 4 and Halo Wars 2 have this. I purchased both for Xbox, initially, but the “Play Anywhere” program also allowed me to play them on pc at no additional cost.
So really, I just don’t want to buy Infinite twice, and this program should allow me to play on both platforms for the price of one game.

Is it really confirmed? I would really like a source to be sure.

Yes, I believe that Infinite is play anywhere. Destiny did something similar where I bought it for the Xbox 360 and I got to have it for free on the Xbox One as well since I had already bought it.
I’m not familiar with the play-anywhere feature. Does it also extend to Steam, i.e. can I buy it on Steam and play on an Xbox?

No. As I recall play anywhere titles were digital titles you bought on Xbox and were playable on Windows 10 pc’s and vice versa. I actually have not heard the term play anywhere in a long time. Not sure if it’s still in use.
Edit. Still seems to be a thing. Read Me.
