Do you guys think 343 is gonna drop all the lore they’ve been building since Halo 4 (Didact, Janus key, Guardians, Cortana going crazy) and start with a fresh new narrative? Part of me is still itching for more of the Halo 4-5 thread (remember when The Librarian was about to reveal something in 4 and then got cut off by the Didact? Never explained again!) but I also feel like the crap that is Halo 5’s campaign has rendered the reclaimer saga beyond salvaging at this point.
Maybe not immediately, but the new Halo book Halo: Renegades suggests that they are still in place.
I haven’t read it all but most of the story lines you mentioned are being wrapped up in outside media - (books, comic books, etc). However, the main story of the created taking over and Cortana will be continued in Infinite. It’s a little disappointing that’s how these threads are getting wrapped up but not much that can be done about that now.
I think there are some elements that are just too insanely obtuse (Cortana) to simply ignore in favor of a fresher narrative, but I believe they will try to move away from and minimize the approach they’ve been taking to storytelling at least within the games to make way for a more accessible story for newer players or those who don’t care to spend excess time digging into expanded lore. That’s the smart move- it doesn’t take the detailed canon that we enjoy away from us since we’ll still be getting books and things like the showtime Halo TV show (please don’t be terrible!) that are more intense and intricate narratively, but it makes the games a lot more universally enjoyable.
Halo needs to retain the fanbase it has, but it won’t survive too much longer if it doesn’t add new players into the community with new games. Accessible narrative in the campaign as well as an awesome variety of gametypes for on and offline play seems to be the way to best accomplish that. And, like I say, keep publishing cool expanded lore in other mediums for the die-hards like us.
I think there will always be a chance for story continuation, but they’re going to wait a few years after Infinite before even considering making another Halo game. Hell, they might even make another spin-off Halo or 343i might be allowed to create their own thing.

When they make another Halo game it wont be another continuation from Infinite. Its going to be something like ODST, or Halo Wars.
IMO they have a LOT of timeline stuff they can work with, and lots of places to go.
I believe the Didact will be dropped from anything main game related, but there’s a possibility the Janus Key will be reintroduced if useful to whatever narrative the game takes in the future. I don’t think we’ll be seeing any Guardians going forward, but maybe there will be some minor references here and there. Cortana and the Created are something that cannot be abandoned, but I think they’ll shift away from the Created War in the sense that whatever Chief is doing on Zeta Halo will be related to Cortana directly, but distanced from a general conflict, and whatever happens in the game will push the narrative away from the Cortana being the main antagonist, and maybe create a new context for the Created. I think they’ll resolve Cortana by the end of Infinite and probably the Created as well, but I do think there will be some significant changes to the Halo lore related to skepticism over AI and potential major societal shifts after the conflict resolves that could effect future game narratives.
