> I am more disappointed that once again, War Games-specific content is given higher priority. Yes, I understand that many people play War Games, but as indicative of this thread, quite a number play Spartan Ops. More and more, I am given the impression that how I choose to enjoy Halo 4 is somehow wrong.
>
> I understand that I’m likely in a population of select few individuals that only have time to play Halo 4 on a casual basis; time constraints and offline responsibilities curtail any prolonged participation on my part. I am able to get in on a couple of War Games matches, but realistically I am primarily a single-player or local party gamer, and often I need to pause my game to address things that might require my immediate attention.
>
> However, I like playing Halo. I like playing Halo 4, despite some of its criticisms. I like the fact that Spartan Ops is similar to Firefight in Halo Reach (another mode I enjoy for the same reasons above). Yes, it can be a tad repetitive, but Spartan Ops provides immersion into the Halo 'verse that you don’t really get in War Games.
>
> So when a majority of bonus content is only available to me if I play a certain game mode, or in a certain style, it makes me feel like I’m second-class. It seems to indicate that I am not appreciated, that I’m not supposed to enjoy Halo 4 the way I do. Heck, I can’t even watch the Spartan Ops movies anymore.
>
> Most armor variants can only be unlocked with War Games commendations, so when word of brand new armor being available for everyone came down, you can imagine my excitement (and subsequent disappointment). In fact, this feeling is emphasized by the bulletins that don’t even bother distinguishing between War Games and Spartan Ops. Instead the term is “matchmaking,” which is used interchangeably to mean War Games or just generic online play.
>
> Some have said that it wouldn’t matter with Spartan Ops because you wouldn’t see yourself. Would this not be true in War Games? Isn’t the point of having your choice of armor primarily to be viewed by other players? Spartan Ops is not just a single-player mode; it can be played co-op online, or on local split-screen (and in fact is a perfect party game to introduce new players to Halo 4, by working together instead of against).
>
> I totally understand that players often want to distinguish themselves and advertise their skill, which is why we now have the CSR and special War Games playlists. I’m all for that, and have tremendous respect for gamers that can compete at the highest level. And I’m not asking to be put on the same pedestal as a competitive War Gamer.

> I just want to feel like I am still considered a part of the Halo 'verse. I want to feel included, to feel excited when new content is made available. A part of that inclusion is being able to actually use that new content. Instead I am left feeling like a forgotten step-child, abandoned in the supermarket because my guardians said they’d buy a toy for the kids and left me behind because they really meant their favorite son or daughter. Again.

It would be nice to be able to play in full ODST armor in a co-op setting…well now that 343i knows about it, they’ll fix it, yeah?
Has 343 said anything, or acknowledged this issue. There are more people than I suspected to be this upset over it. I got on Tuesday morning at 9 and realized I had paid for junk that I would rarely use. Was one of the first to post a complaint on here. Just wondering if they have announced anything and if so have any plans to fix this problem. In a way I don’t see them fixing it. They have our money why bother… In other words they may. This wouldn’t help sales for the next Halo. Anyway just wondering.
Has there been any official word from 343 or Microsoft about whether or not they are working on fixing the Champions Bundle programming issues?
One would think that they (343) would have noticed that the Champions Bundle did not work properly sometime during beta testing. Was the Champions Bundle designed just for the Halo 4 WarGames or did they intend for it to work with Spartan Ops as well? If the bundle was just for WarGames, why was there not a disclaimer attached to the file at Microsoft Marketplace?

Yes, 343i is aware of the issue; they listed the known issues with the Champions DLC in the Halo Waypoint blog, along with the first-person armor glitch in War Games and numerous other bugs brought on by this DLC.
I hope they’ll tell us more about it in the Halo Bulletin tonight, and confirm that they are working on a fix; that we will eventually be able to use all of the Champions DLC content (armor, weapon skins, armor mods) in Spartan Ops.
At any rate, I’m going to take a break from Halo 4 until this problem is fixed. I was looking forward to playing through all 50 episodes of Spartan Ops with the new armor, but obviously I can’t do that now… and, I’m having some bad luck in matchmaking.
I’ll be keeping an eye on Waypoint and the forums until this problem is finally fixed.
I actually prefer Spartan Ops to War Games. I find Spartan Ops (a single team working toward a mutual set of goals) more rewarding than the war games (two or more undisciplined mobs going at each other with each member clawing to be #1 on the kill list) where some people spend more time killing their own team members than the OpFor, not counting GriftBall where betrayal is almost impossible to avoid(except for those running up and down their spawn line intentionally killing teammates).
For this reason, I am rather disappointed that the Champions Bundle does not work with Spartan Ops.
I’ve never felt the need to visit these threads before, but i have been waiting weeks for this to come out. I primarily play spartan ops and have to totally agree with anyone else on their outrage at this. I seriously re-loaded the files three times, hoping it was just a glitch on my system or connection. so i decided to see if anyone else was having the same problems. this feels criminal. How can they justify not making this known? Is this what the UNSC does to it’s most valiant warriors? Is this what the CHIEF WOULD DO?
> > Kind of expected something such as this, adding armor shouldn’t even be possible.

I think he means adding armor into Halo… It was supposed to be impossible up to about two months ago before the Champions DLC was announced. The fact that there are glitches to something that has never been done in any Halo game before should be expected.
However, I do think that 343 should immediantly fix these issues in order to not get any bad PR on the subject. Because I am a little annoyed. Oh well, hopefully there will finally be some info tonight on the bulletin.

I find myself continually wandering back to the home page, and a question persists in my mind. What time does the Bulletin usually come out, anyway? I’ve been waiting all day for it, and it’s ten o’ clock Eastern time now. I realize 343 is going to be Pacific, since they’re in Washington, but that would be seven o’ clock in the evening.
Normally I don’t keep track of when the announcements are made, so much as what’s said within them. Could somebody give me a heads-up on when I should be seeing one?

That… is a very good question. I usually don’t notice the Bulletin until 1:00 AM EST; that would be 10:00 PM pacific, right? I think that when they post the Bulletin. Why they wait until that late at night, I don’t know…
Anyway, the current situation has compelled me to return to older Halo titles such as Halo:Anniversary (since I can’t use my new Mark V armor in Spartan Ops) Halo 3:ODST and Halo:Reach’s Firefight modes. Least I have a fallback until 343i fixes this… I’ll be back in a couple hours.
I was really not sure whether to get this DLC or not but after reading this post, I’m definitely not. I’ve only just started playing Halo 4 again after I got bored so quickly and I’ve not bought any other DLC for Halo 4 either.
I’m very pleased I won’t be buying this now, 343i yet again disappoint. I appreciate that time and effort must have gone into this DLC, alone with others and not to mention the game itself, but 343i consistently seem to let everyone down.
I almost feel like they do it for fun now, seriously.
Not even a mention of this. Not so much as a hint of it. Just “CHAMPIONS DLC IS AWESOME.”
Really now? 343’s not even going to recognize this, not even going to tell us whether or not they plan on fixing this? Not even going to suggest that they can or can’t?
I’m gonna go play as an Angry Marine for a while, 'scuse me.
EDIT:
Hit the Halo: Waypoint Twitter account with the question on whether or not the issue was being ignored or if they planned on fixing it. They dodged the question entirely by saying the same thing, that it’s not available in SPARTAN Ops or Campaign. It was like an automated response.
Which wasn’t what I asked, and I called them out on it. Let’s see if they respond again.
If they dodge it in its entirety once more, I think I’m done with anything 343 has to offer. Because that’s insulting, to not even answer the question.

I’ll be in Halo:Anniversary. Only way I can kick Covenant -Yoink- in classic Mark V armor until they fix this.
Seriously, 343i didn’t even acknowledge that there were any problems with the DLC in this weeks Bulletin. All we’ve seen is that blog entry with the Known Issues and that one post BS Angel made on the forums.
I don’t think 343 realises how many players just play spartan ops or wanna play spartan ops to kick the covenant around as your spartan. I really wanna like 343 but it just seems like anytime they do something it goes wrong somehow and keeping us in the dark is just not right. 343 we are your fans, players,(and your consumers)and love Halo there’s no need to treat us like strangers and make us wait for you to give us a simple answer of what your plans are.
Been a while since I bothered logging in to comment on a thread, but gotta say to those who don’t get why this whole not being able to use DLC stuff in S.O…
It’s an immersion thing that I totally get, bugs me too. One of the things that people kinda universally liked about Reach was the fact that YOUR Spartan, how YOU made him/her over time all custom and stuff, was doing things that mattered. Some of us REALLY liked that feature, and then kinda dug how Spartan Ops did the same thing. Just… kinda ties some of us to the Halo Universe in a deeper way… cuz nerds and proud, lol.
And the fact that they never said you COULDN’T use this stuff… kind of a bummer, really. It’s exactly the kind of stuff people who liked the immersion of Reach and Spartan Ops have been waiting for. So, I get that. I’ve been playing a lot of Minecraft and Fallout lately, and this all sounded like something that would get me back into Halo for a bit.
So yeah… glad I found this thread and saved myself a bit of grief. Prolly still get it, but can totally sympathize with folks.

Amen. One of my favorite things about Reach was how your custom Spartan was reflected in every game mode; when Bungie announced that you could play as your own Spartan in Campaign, I was ecstatic. I loved seeing my own Spartan in the cutscenes, especially; it made me feel like I was part of the story.
