If Bungie were still in charge this “problem” (if it is a problem, or just something that 343 didn’t get off their lazy buts to find a solution for.) would never have happened, and if it did happen, it would be fixed and explained about from them personally.
Makes me wonder if they rushed this update.
My personal opinion is make them work in both matchmaking and spartan ops. Because, you know, Spartan Ops is also a form of matchmaking.
(Posted from my Galaxy S4, so apologies for any spelling errors or word misusage)
I stayed up till 9:00am to get this DLC, and realized that not only does the armor not work in spartan ops, but the forearms don’t work in first person either. As someone who enjoys having my spartan as pimped out as possible, I am very annoyed at this. An example is that when I am wearing any of the arms in Matchmaking, they are replaced with inner-plated forearms. While those are great for visibility and simplicity (let’s be honest, you wouldn’t be able to see -Yoink!-all with the prefect arms in mid-swing with the energy sword), I would enjoy actually knowing that my armor is equipped with out having to go around with a turret all the time (I’m best with the AR and Carbine anyway). I paid for this, and I want it to work, both in spartan ops and matchmaking. Hopefully 343i gets the message and patches all this up nice an proper. Soon.

Did it ever occur to you that a fix might be impossible? Did you forget how unique this kind of DLC is to Halo? God only knows what kind of programming loopholes 343 had to find to get this to us.
It might be they just can’t do anything about it, and no amount of Yoinking is going to change that.
> nothing as far as I know, all I know is they never stated this before launch, players buy the pack souly for Spartan ops and get seriously disappointed
Thank God I didnt buy it yet. Feel so sorry for the first downloaders.
The problem isn’t the inability of using Champion’s Bundle in Spartan OPs, that would have been tolerable, IF 343 WOULD HAVE TOLD US BEFORE HAND. This is false advertising, plain and simple. And false advertising is wrong and sometime fatal.
How is it fatal? Well, obviously in video games its not, but lets say you sold a cookie that had peanut butter in it, but didnt say it had peanut butter in it. Then someone who was allergic ate it. Yeah…

That’s different; the people in Hell don’t deserve ice water, why the hell do you think they’re in there in the first place?
But we all paid for this DLC expecting the content would be available in every game mode, including Spartan Ops, and it’s not. Not to mention all the other bugs that came with this DLC and yesterday’s title update.
This is quite unacceptable.
Not just due to the fact that the content does not work in SpOps, but because 343i did a very, very poor job of communicating that fact over to the rest of the community.
One forum post the day before is not enough.
Why? Any player who does not see that single post would rightly assume that like all other skins, armor mods and armor sets, the Champions Bundle exclusive ones would work in all possible game modes.
Sans that post, there was ZERO indication that the Champion’s Bundle content would function any differently than in game, Pre-Order, Collector’s Edition or Promotional content.
The description of the bundle doesn’t even try to skirt around by just saying that the content is usable in War Games and Customs. They didn’t even need to come out and specify “This content is not usable in SpOps” within the announcements, bulletins or description on Xbox Live, they could’ve just worded it so they mention it’s usability in everything but SpOps.
An average player will go out and buy the Bundle assuming the armor and skins will work just like all the other armor and skins on disc, because there is no indication otherwise aside from ONE FORUM POST.
“Oh, but they never specified that it could be used in SpOps, so it’s not false advertising!”
BS. No other company could get away with that. You wouldn’t let Pizza Hut get away with selling you a pizza with no sauce just because they didn’t confirm you wanted sauce, you wouldn’t let a movie theater get away with turning off the sound of a film just because you said you wanted to “see” the movie and never specified “hearing” it, and you shouldn’t let 343i get away with this.
Given that we all had to install the SpOps map files onto our systems (and download the second half) it should be a simple matter of offering up replacement SpOps maps for download that have the new content built in. Delete the old files, replace them with new, Champions compatible, versions.
343i should:
A. Fix the issue
B. Make it clear that the content is inaccessible in SpOps through an official channel.
C. Refund or reimburse, in some way, those that bought any piece of the bundle that is not 100% compatible with Halo 4.

They (or at least BSangel) DID tell us before hand.
This is -Yoink-. It’s -Yoink- and nothing else. I shouldv’e signed in to Waypoint before spending 800 -Yoink!- points on the DLC.
I’m going to be blunt now, 343: this is absolutely unacceptable. No matter what you or any of your supporters say, you have no excuse for this. Technically this could be considered false advertising, since it was NEVER officially said the DLC wouldn’t work in Spops, and nowhere in the XBM listing does it say that. And by officially, I mean say it on the marketplace and in a bulletin or something.
I may reside in matchmaking most of the time, but now I feel cheated. Spops is nice to play every now and then, but I can’t use something I paid for. It uses loadouts and spartan customization like multiplayer, so why doesn’t it work? Just like I did after everyone got most of the LE’s content and when Crimson was released for everyone before an explanation, I feel cheated.
I see two problems with this situation. One, people won’t get their money’s worth, and two, you utterly failed in every sense of the word failure to tell anyone this until yesterday. And to think I started regaining my faith in you.

A single employee’s forum post the day beforehand does not save 343i.
Plenty of players do not browse the forums, or follow 343i employees on Twitter.
Those players could end up buying the bundle assuming that it functions the same as all other content in the game, because neither the description of the content nor any of the announcements/bulletins even suggest that it wouldn’t.
If the game only functioned on the slim 360, 343i wouldn’t be off the hook if BSangel said so in an obscure forum post the day before release.
> Did you forget how unique this kind of DLC is to Halo?
Modding communities have been adding this kind of DLC to all sorts of shooters for well over a decade (same essential process, minus MS verification and digital distribution through XBL) and retail titles like Space Marine, Prey, Unreal Tournament, Borderlands, and Mechassault have successfully added armor/player skin and/or weapon skin DLC from the developers without issue. Halo is only special in the amount of fuss bungie made ultimately over the way they awkwardly designed H3 and Reach NOT to accept new customization bits. It shouldn’t be an issue, then and especially now with 343 at the helm. Their failure here isn’t an inevitable consequence of how hard it is to add skins to a game, it’s simply a failure.
So what? If it simply can’t be done for Halo 4 SOPS incompatibility with new DLC should have been brought to our attention well in advance and underlined under the content’s description on XBL. Since 343 didn’t go so far as that we might hope that this is just a glitch with mass distribution, though we might also assume they’ve turned to piracy on the high seas of their own community.
If we start seeing parrots in the next vidoc we’ll know for sure…
> I could understand crying about weapon skins not working, but seriously? Armor? Why are you kids complaining? Half of you play solo and you cant even see your freaking armor anyways. Seriously. Any reason to cry and complain and you people will do it. Be happy it was even possible and let 343 sort out the bugs. Im sure a 1.05.01 patch will address the other main bugs within a couple weeks.
How come everyone doesn’t think on these forums as straight as you, good sir?
+6 MILLION UPVOTES!
My two cents here: you understand that 343, not even Bungie, EVER implemented DLC armor, right? For lack of a better word, there is BOUND to be bugs with this sort of thing. Besides, they’re aware, and I’m pretty sure they’ll fix it once everyone’s Collctive B****ing kicks in like always.

…excuse me? I believe you are assuming, or you’re projecting so hard you could show off PowerPoint presentations.
I don’t recall it being said ANYWHERE about this working in all game modes. TBH I’m ashamed of something: knowing that so many people are miffed over their own assumptions and then raising an uproar that rivals the Egypt protests. Another thing that bothers me about all this:
WHY DOES EVERYONE CARE?!
You weren’t chinced, this wasn’t “false advertised”, in fact, it was never stated aside from what was included in the pack that it’d all work. Like I said before, this whole DLC Armor deal is almost completely experimental. Expecting this to work from Day 0 and accusing 343i of ripping you all off is pretty damn selfish.
Point? 343 will fix it, you all weren’t ripped off, and you should get angry over something more constructive that video game DLC that you paid money for on your own free will.
