> I could understand crying about weapon skins not working, but seriously? Armor? Why are you kids complaining? Half of you play solo and you cant even see your freaking armor anyways. Seriously. Any reason to cry and complain and you people will do it. Be happy it was even possible and let 343 sort out the bugs. Im sure a 1.05.01 patch will address the other main bugs within a couple weeks.
I don’t need a fancy weapon. Half the time, I’m of the opinion that Weapon Skins are a stupid gimmick. Why does my Forerunner rifle have something really close to jungle camo on it when I’m in the middle of a desert? Why am I using a bright yellow DMR in the middle of a frozen wasteland? Why does my pistol need sky-blue digital camo, and where could it possibly help? And what the Hell is wrong with my alien weaponry?
Your basic rifle is something that should be good enough for everyone.
The way I appear, on the other hand, is a very serious matter. I want to represent myself how I please in a video game. It doesn’t matter that I can’t see it, I know it’s there.
Using a disturbing metaphor: If I blindfold you and strip off all your clothes, then send you out into traffic, does the fact that you can’t see the way you look mean you shouldn’t be bothered by it? No. Subconsciously, it’s still there in the back of your mind, and you’ll be bothered by it. Unless you’re an exhibitionist. But normal people would be bothered by it.
I have chosen for multiple games to identify myself as an ODST. I do not like the SPARTANs, I think they’re overrated. I especially do not like the SPARTAN-IVs, conceptually or canonically.
Halo 4 does a pretty good job of beating you over the head with it. Every time you see normal Marines, Army, Navy, whatever they are in this game… They die. They’re made out to look incompetent so that the SPARTANs can come in and save the day. SPARTAN Ops will show you this time and time again. Watch as the Marines brag about how they’ve got an area held down, only to be gutted by a Sangheili Zealot that was cloaked with an Energy Sword.
I, for one, do not like any of the armor in the vanilla game. If you load up my Halo 4 Stats and look at my armor? I do not like that armor. I choose to wear it because I can bear it more than I can the other armor sets in the game, whose designs are by and far nonsensical (Infiltrator helmet), alien (Pioneer helmet), or downright boring (Most shoulder and several chest variants in the game). I do not like multiplayer due to the fact that few of my friends play this game for the same reason.
My friends and I were going to load up SPARTAN Ops tomorrow and play through it as a Squad of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers that had survived the war and were assigned to the Infinity as part of an Office of Naval Intelligence attache, working more or less as PMCs. A roleplay of sorts.
Well. That’s hard to do if it turns out we can’t use the armor in SPARTAN Ops, right?
The issue really isn’t even that the armor doesn’t work. The issue is that the fact that the armor doesn’t work is a big selling point for a lot of people, and a lot of people are going to wake up tomorrow, download that armor, and become furious when they realize that it doesn’t work in SPARTAN Ops, and were never told otherwise. And they’re going to have wasted up to ten dollars (If they’re from the US) on content that can’t be used in what makes up half the game.
There’s been no attempt made to clarify this issue, and nobody ever mentioned it wouldn’t work until just now. Not in an announcement, not in an FAQ, no trailers, no ViDoc. Just a passing comment that nothing would work.
The problem doesn’t lie in the fact that it doesn’t work in SPARTAN Ops. The problem is that nobody said it wouldn’t.
EDIT: As you read this, read “armor” as “Champions Bundle Content.” Though I ride the armor train into the ground because that’s what’s got me aggravated the most, it still translates to the DLC as a whole.
