> I think many people will agree with me when I say we arent mad because 343 didnt have the armors/ weapon skins work in Spartan Ops (I dont know why people would think it would work in Campaign) but rather the fact 343 seems not to care. They have said NOTHING about whether they are gonna fix it or not. If they decide not to, ok, i will be ticked, but at least I will know not to expect a fix. If they cant fix it, ok, tell us.
No, I am mad precisely because 343 didn’t have the content work in spartan ops. They have already said they have no plans to fix it yet from looking around the forums it appears they are gathering info on champions dlc bugs in wargames. They should have officially said beforehand that it wouldn’t work with SpOps and I would be quite happy for 343 to not say a single word on the matter if they fix it asap. I don’t care if they apologise, I don’t care about explanations about what can and can’t be done. I’d just like it fixed so I can do what I bought it for.
Considering this thread almost 20 pages long, I would hope we’ve caught someone’s notice. Here’s hoping the next Bulletin clarifies the issue, with a possible fix.
I just saw THIS POLL in the polling section of Halo Waypoint. I think the results (though few participants) is intriguing. Since Spartan Ops is literally a continuation/spin-off of the Halo 4 campaign/story, the poll seems relevant to this discussion.

proof of what fans love about Halo yet it seems 343 don’t want to support this. They clearly went to a lot of effort to make spartan ops, the cut scenes are incredible, they story is compelling and the missions while admittedly being a bit samey at times were a lot of fun, particularly in the second half of the season. So why go to all that effort and then abandon it? Why go to the effort of adding new armour when apparently it wasn’t possible and then not let us use it in the mode where customisation matters the most? My wife and I spent ages selecting our new armour pieces, adjusting our loadouts with new weapon skins. And then finding the perfect colour combinations for our newly pimped out Spartans. We needn’t have bothered because the only way we can use them forces us to be either blue or red, and usually with a forced loadout.
As of 1750 Pacific, 26 August, Microsoft Marketplace still does not post a warning on Champions Bundle (or the sub bundles) stating that the software only works for War Games. If 343 has no intention of making any of the Champions Bundle work with Spartan Ops, the file description should have been updated immediately. That way no one else purchases the Bundle without knowing that the Bundle is for War Games only.

Or they simply do not care if it works with Spartan Ops and want your money regardless of your intended use.
Frankly, the lack of any official word from 343 either way speaks volumes to how committed 343 is to Halo, the players and the fan base.

It’s probably time to visit the haberdasher, 'cause this is all ‘donkey’-hattery.
Still holding my breath for the next Halo Bulletin; they still haven’t given us an explanation. All BS Angel has said so far is “the Champions DLC content doesn’t work in Spartan Ops” and “we have no plans to fix it”… and they still haven’t even told us why. I don’t get it, obviously the community is upset over this; they can’t just ignore it completely.
…and now we got the Halo 4 Game of the Year edition coming out in October! Along with the McFarlane Series 2 unlockables (which probably won’t work in Spartan Ops, either). If they haven’t fixed this problem by then, I’m going to be shocked.
> If they haven’t fixed this problem by then, I’m going to be shocked.
I won’t be. We’re expecting them to exhibit the same sort of response to SOPS as they have repeatedly demonstrated for multiplayer. But consider that in order to implement things like weapon tuning, map packs, and TU’s 343 thought that they were helping the “community.” But we fall outside of that classic label, we aren’t the ones dedicating all of our creative energies to the various products and inputs of team slayer that are so often associated with any mention of the community. We unfortunately like what is essentially a hold-over game mode (co-op) from the original Halo since very, very rarely has it ever seen earnest support (ie. work done that caters directly to co-op players, as opposed to the much more common [seeming] scenario of building a bridge for multiplayer fans. Ex. Reach Firefight) in spite of it being an integral part of CE’s success (perhaps more so than LAN parties even if we just go by time spent playing.)
My point is that people who primarily like co-op are outside of 343’s perceptible universe (which is a perspective inherited from Bungie via the shape Halo took post CE.) Very little in this franchise’s history has conditioned them to consider and respond to the needs of our demographic. So while they may get the faintest glimmer that people are unhappy about how the champions DLC works or is advertised, because we fall so far outside of their normal horizons I doubt that there could ever be sufficient motivation to fix this, or even recognize it as a serious issue.
It’s just in them to care about SOPS. Even though they made it they’re not the studio to support it.
What if they simply can’t fix it ? I mean , don’t you think they knew it wasn’t going to work ? There’s no way they didn’t know what they weren’t working on , within the Champions Bundle …

I already considered that. But the thing is, if they can’t fix it because of some manner of technical limitations, why don’t they just tell us? An explanation would be nice, at the very least.
But all they’ve said so far is basically that they won’t fix it. Hence the current attitude towards 343i among Spartan Ops fans.
Just a notification would be grand like “we understand that the dlc does not seem to carry over to spartan ops and we shall rectify that problem asap” but so far we got no news…its pretty messed up.
Very sad about this.(I believe this is my first post on here by the way, so hello everyone!) I love spartan ops just as much as everyone here and share your pain about the whole situation.
“We have a lot to learn. We made a lot of mistakes. We can do better. And we know this, and we will.” “So we know we have a lot to do. And we know we have a lot to learn. But we also know that we now have the capacity, the teamwork, the technology and the experience to do much better next time.” — The Halo Bulletin: 1.9.13[/li]
This is the next time.
For a company that admittedly needs to prove itself, 343 continues to obliviously lurch from one public relations fiasco to the next, giving me pause as to the professionalism, competence and attitudes of those steering the ship. Frankly, if they can’t be trusted to be transparent and get the little things right today, why should it be any different for greater things tomorrow?
Had they acknowledged this limitation upfront, rather than apathetically after the fact, many would be disappointed but able to make an informed purchasing decision.
This whole debacle is compounded by what BS Angel said in another Spartan Ops thread, which can be found a few paces down from this thread. All the talk about looking to improve and add to SO.
That was months ago. I’m still waiting, others are still waiting, and what the Camps Bundle could have added to SO apparently isn’t. What we heard then and what we are getting now seem to fly in the face of each other. Not even an explanation as to why this is happening.
All this has taught me is that I can’t take anything 343i says at face value. The only company I hold that low of consumer trust in is EA. Which says a lot.

An explanation after the fact would be nice, so would a fix but at this point I’ve written the DLC off, but what galls me most is the fact that we’re having to ask to be forewarned about potentially crippling technical problems. There’s disappointing, there’s irritating, and then there’s completely alienating.
343 should have noticed early in the development of the Champions Bundle that it would not work with Spartan Ops. At the least, that detail should of come to light during Beta Testing. So why wait until the day before the release to post a disclaimer on a Forum page? Why not post “War Games Only” with the file descriptions on Microsoft Marketplace?

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they spent the entire beta testing on wargames, tried spartan ops at the last minute and thought screw it no one will notice.
