"Champions DLC doesn't work in Spartan Ops?"

You don’t play the respect for respect game when the other guy has all the power. Being disrespectful to 343i will only destroy chances of the Champions Bundle working for SPOPS.

Sometimes you have to kiss a little booty to get what you wants; it called being diplomatic. Unchecked pride makes one a fool and could ruin their aspirations.

What good is respect if it costs losing the thing you’re trying to accomplsih? That’s the worst hubris.

Just a thought: but is this going to be 343i’s new method: to only allow new weapon and armor skins be usable in Wargames? If so, does that apply to the new Halo figures coming out with weapon and armor skins? Will there be any disclosure of this prior to release?

Anyone plannning on getting those figures to use the digital content in SPOPS better do some fact checking before buying.

Before this who Champs DLC issue I wouldnt have even given it a thought, but 343i is a studio I no longer have faith in. Whatever they produce won’t be purchased by me until after it’s released, just so I can ensure I’m getting what I paid for

Yeah I asked that earlier, makes the McFarlane DLC worthless to me if its wargames only

We’ll have to see. In the meantime, don’t pre-order anything.

Amen.

> Yeah I asked that earlier, makes the McFarlane DLC worthless to me if its wargames only

I hadn’t thought of that, I was going to order a full set of figures but now… I think I’ll pass.

Yeah I’d really look into the terms of any Halo content from now on.

> @esc1 - Yeah I’m actually blown away by this move from 343i. It’s not like H4 is so popular atm that they can afford to alienate any part of their dwindled regulars.
>
> And it just makes no rational sense. Anything usable in Wargames like Ordnance Priority is available in SPOPS, even though its completely useless. Weapon skins and Armors are no different from any other tech-wise. Hell thers even unlockables you can only obtain in Wargames, but once you do you can use in SPOPS, like the visor colors.
>
> And the absolute worst part was this at no time anywhere disclosed. Since H4 released all loadouts and armors have been available in both SPOPS and Wargames. If 343 suddenly changed that then they were ethically obligated to do so.
>
> Please don’t let this thread die or be shut down. Keep it going and keep griping, but keep it civil. I’, still hoping with a large enough demand for it that 343 would update the Champs bundle to function in SPOPS.

That’s what I’m hoping for; keep this thread alive, and 343i has to listen to us.

There were endless complaint threads before on the lack of weapons on the maps, the previous state of weapon balancing, the lack of classic armors like ODST and Mark V; 343i had addressed all of these and given the fans what they want. Why should this be any different?

In the event that they can’t get the new stuff to work in Spartan Ops due to some kind of technical limitations (though I doubt it, as it seems like a bug to me) they need to give us an alternative.

Maybe bring back Firefight, and let it run on existing War Games maps, at the very least. I’d consider that acceptable.

I should have trusted my instincts, and the advice of family, and not bought Champions Pack on the first day it was available. I should have waited at least a month so that most of the bugs were found and fixed. Yes I had a Homer Simpson moment.

I lost faith in 343i when I played Halo: CE 10th Aniversary when I noticed they took out the legs when you look down, and added fall damage.

I regained my faith in them when a friend brought over Halo 4 and let me play the campaign.

Now this QA SNAFU occurs, and all faith/trust for 343i is gone for me. Until they fix this issue, I’m boycotting future products. That’s what I did with CoD. After playing that awful and predictable Black Ops campaign, I vowed to never play another CoD game again. Halo may be next. I’m upgrading my PC to ultra specs instead of getting the XBO. If I had Halo 4 on PC, I’d fix this error myself, but nooooo… A few bad eggs ruined console modding forever. We gamers single handedly patched Skyrim’s bugs before Bethesda could. 343i has no viable excuse for this error. Someone in QA dropped the ball, and 343i isn’t even officially apologizing.

You see, they already have our money, and we more than likely won’t get it back. We can however use the most powerful tool in marketing to force the issue, and that tool is “word of mouth.” No matter what anyone advertises, the product is sold or destroyed by word of mouth. Business 101 folks.

Are you kidding? There was always fall damage in Halo CE, it just only happened from more ridiculous heights before you got hurt, unlike in the other Halo games with fall damage. And you could never see your legs when you looked down in CE, either.

Like I said before, it’s possible the lack of Champions DLC content in Spartan Ops is the result of some technical limitation or another.

However; if that were the case, then why doesn’t 343i just give us an explanation? If the Champions DLC was always going to be exclusive to War Games, why didn’t they tell us that when they first announced the DLC?

Instead, they just tell us the DLC is not available in Spartan Ops in an obscure forum post literally hours before the DLC launches, and they don’t tell us WHY. That makes me think that this is a big that CAN be fixed, and one I expect to be fixed at some point in the near future, along with the rest of the bugs in the DLC.

343i says they have no plans to fix the problem? They can always make plans, ja?

The fact that this doesn’t work in Spartan Ops is kind of lame. Especially since I actually spend most of my H4 time in SO than Wargames.

Really hope they fix this.

I just back-read through the thread to see what I missed, and I honestly cannot believe I just spent $10.00 on the bundle, and they aren’t going to fix the bugs.

This is insulting and completely unacceptable. First there’s no real public announcement that the pack isn’t SPARTAN OPS compatible, short of a single forum post the day before the dlc is to be released, or that there are any bugs / glitches to be anticipated when wearing the armor in War Games and Custom Matches, and now the news comes whispering down the grapevine that they aren’t going to do anything about it.

Unacceptable. Completely unacceptable.

If they aren’t going to do anything to fix what is clearly a mistake on their part (regardless of whether or not they did it intentionally) they should at least come out into the light and say that they aren’t going to do what is right. They could at least stand up and stand by their decision and make themselves heard, loudly, and not through tweets and status updates like spoiled children.

As someone who has invested money in their games and in their company, I really do not appreciate all this cloak-and-dagger. They may have never expressly said the dlc would be universally compatible with all Halo 4 gametypes, but they never even hinted that it wouldn’t be either. I believe someone said (not a direct quote, but paraphrasing) that only the most dangerously paranoid of us would think the dlc would not work with the ENTIRE game. What they’ve done here falls just short of thievery. I almost literally feel robbed. $10.00 isn’t alot of money, but I paid it with a certain understanding that I would get what I thought I was paying for. I haven’t.

It was, what I thought, a safe assumption to make that the dlc would work across the board. Why would I not think it would? There was no indication that it wouldn’t, and after all, that is what playtesting is for.

And now I’ve given them my money, excited and hopeful that this new influx of content might stir some new life into the game. That maybe my friends and I would get a few more weeks, maybe a few more months of enjoyment out of the game.

All I have are 15 weapon skins and 3 armor sets along with a miscellany of new skins for older armors that I can’t use in anything but matchmaking and customs, and barely at that with how they are glitched, 1 new map that seems to be only really good for Slayer gametypes, and a less-than-faithful remake of a map I didn’t particularly care for when it debuted in Halo 3.

The only saving grace would have been that I could have played SPARTAN OPS with my new guns and armor mods, not to mention my fancy armor. And now I hear (not directly, not in a PSA or ViDOC, but through a game of internet ‘Telephone’ involving google search and their Waypoint Forums) that the one thing that could have saved this from being the final nail in the coffin for my interest in Halo 4 isn’t coming.

At the risk of being less than constructive, to hell with 343 and what they’re doing to the series, and what they’re doing right now to their customers. I will never buy another Halo game for as long as they manage the title, nor will I buy another piece of dlc for anything with their names on it, regardless of whether or not they fix these issues.

I have had enough of their attitude concerning what used to be my favorite franchise. If they insist on doing sub-par work on something that should have been treated with the utmost respect, and continuing to alienate Halo fans everywhere, I see no reason why I should continue to participate in this abuse.

The fact that BSangel states there are no plans in the works to fix these issues is proof enough for me that they have no intention to do so whatsoever. If and when it’s fixed, perhaps then I might make a retraction. But as it stands I have no intention on allowing myself to be treated poorly as a consumer by a company I was told would be worthy successors.

Will some Monitor please kill this topic before the stupidity leaks out the main servers and turns the whole world into something like in that one Futurama episode?!

Seriously, this topic started beating a dead horse about 6 pages worth of posts ago, but now it’s not only beating the horse, we’re stringing it up in the public square for everyone in the village to have a turn to flog it. WE GET IT, they have something to fix. WE GET IT, you are pissed about a portion of missed gameplay functionality, and WE ALSO GET IT that you feel cheated for poorly justified reasons.

It’s even more insult to injury that this topic still is being bumped after the closest thing to an answer has already been fielded (the actual answer and this response notwithstanding).

So please; stop complaining, write your farewell threads, go back to Halo Reach, convert to Battlefield or CoD like a good old bandwagon jumper, and stop giving me cancer with these -Yoink- complaint threads.

> That is utterly disappointing, I don’t see how they could release it in this state. Having it simply revert your armors to the default set seems like it is broken. While I am exceptionally pleased with the content of the pack the inability to use it in one of the most important modes in my opinion in the game is downright unacceptable.

To my knowledge, this is the very first time any Halo game has had an addition like this. The engine has never been set up to allow developers to just force global content into it post-release – all assets are stored per-map, and while one map can borrow assets from another, these links are set in stone when the maps are released – so this DLC and TU exist in uncharted territory.

(And just to clarify: that bit about the engine is solid, not a guess or assumption on my part. Some aspects of the engine haven’t been changed since Halo 1 and 2, and the per-map storage of assets is one of them.)

This really is unbelievable to me. How can they not expect anyone to notice this? It literally seems like they’re completely abandoning Ops 100%. What a joke.

You could always just scroll past them…

So are you saying the odds are the Champions bundle content and any new content will never be usable on SPOPS!?

Just asking because you seem to have some technical based knowledge regarding this issue.

Well uncharted as far as this franchise is concerned. It’s worrying that we’re still having much the same conversation now as we did in 2007. No, we can’t have DLC armor (at least that works.) No it’s not possible for the game to load this or that (though the precise details may well be different.) Great, but the small jobs (ex. Relic for WH4k Space marine) don’t seem to have any issue developing DLC armor or any similar sort of global DLC. Epic even seemed to have even solved “the problem” in 2008 for Unreal Tournament 3 though they may have taken something away from modding communities which have for quite a bit more than a decade provided player skins and additional, global, content that could be installed rather easily and used willy nilly.

Sure, different games from different devs with different technical capabilities but that’s not so much of a reason or excuse, but instead a spotlight on where the issue probably is (with them even if the problem turns out to be an inherited one from Bungie.)
