> I’m okay with the challenges returning I just hope they don’t become stale like in reach.
Not to mention they got to be rewarding
I fully agree with both you and OP, challenges were a really nice addition that gave us an extra reason to keep playing. However, to make sure the challenges does not get stale custom challenges would be nice, same goes for 343i making new ones or “borrowing” good custom ones.
I also hope they are rewarding, certain challenges took very long time but gave very little reward which made them a mock rather then a nice addition. If you spend 200h doing a challenge, you should get something nice in return imo
Challenges like “kill x with y z times” got boring fast. My favourite challenges were the ones that taught me things about the game, like beating Winter Contingency in under fifteen minutes, and killing those drop pods on the Corvette, and finding the BoB in New Alexandria. Challenges that are, y’know… challenging, rather than grinding. But that’s just me. Grinding in non-Minecraft games wears thin fast for me. I think Minecraft sates my desire for abnegation.
I just hope they don’t drastically change the game play. I mean if there is a challenge where you must stick 3 enemies with plasma grenades there will be a lot of those who just spam plasmas without using their guns.
But IMO challenges should be like get running riot or 4 multikills in one game that way they wouldn’t change the game play.

Fully agree.
Like mortal said nothing that effects gameplay. Get three firebirds then everyone has jetpacks.
I’d like to see more challenging weekly challenges that require a good amount of time and effort put in to them.
Like this one in Reach is to complete 16 Daily Challenges, now it isn’t the most challenging but at least it takes more than a day or a couple of hours to complete.

according to today’s bulletin, yes! There are 2 achievements that you get from challenges:1 for completing one, and another for completing 35. This means that they should be in the game, and should still be frequent enough to use effectively.
I just hope that some of them are made a bit more interesting than the ones in reach. After about 2 months, they started to cycle with the same boring stuff. This was temporarily fixed when LASO’s were introduced(a new one every 2 weeks, I believe), but even those got old when completed several times over.
I want to see some more random ones. Like getting x splatters, or stick a player(not vehicle) with a sticky detonator. They need a little bit more variety. Hopefully this can be accopmlished with the addition of spartan ops, but IDK maybe Even challenges that require you to rank up your trueskill a level(not everyone would get it, but it certainly would make more people try).
Either way they will get stale after a while. Lets just try and extend their longevity a bit.

I saw that listed an I was happy to see they would be returning!
Maybe they’ll have challenges for multiplayer and then seperate ones for Spartan Ops
The problem with Reach’s challenges is that they’re too static. Halo 4’s challenges need to evolve along with people finding new strategies to play to make the challenges more, well, challenging. Also there needs to be incentive. I’m a Mythic now so I really have no more reason to try for challenges anymore as I have all the armor I could buy up (except for Haunted). They need to keep challenges fresh so they evolve with their audience.
In my opinion the best way to pull of challenges would be for there to only be 1 weekly challenge. As in, that is the only challenge.
That weekly challenge would be very unique or fun to do. A new custom challenge every week, like what they do in the bulletin, except an official challenge.
I hope they have more challenges, sometimes the daily challenges are just too easy and I find myself done with them in like 1 hour… I also hope custom challenges make a comeback. Challenges are a really awesome part of Halo IMO

I hope custom challenges come back as well but if they do I hope you’ll be able to make some of them under 3 hours since 3 hours was the least amount of time avaliable.

Well in one of the gameplay vids from Nak3d Eli he scrolled over to the challenges menu where it had Campaign Challenges, Spartan Ops Challenges, Multiplayer Challenges, and then Waypoint Challenges. Not sure what the Waypoint challenges will be but I’m guessing they will either be Custom challenges or the Custom Weekly Jackpot ones.
