Just be explicit. The plasma sword seems like a hard light weapon yet you don’t count it as that, therefore explain what counts.
Challenges can stay as they are but you need to be able to click on them and get more detailed descriptions of them. Like pretend you are describing it to an eight year old that has never played the game. I know what a semi automatic rifle is but I doubt the average population does and your rifles are imaginary so even if I know what one is I really don’t know if what you created constitutes as one or not unless you tell me.
Think the specific challenges like: «get kills with hardlight weapons» or «splatter an enemy with warthog» are just complete nonsense to have right now, as how the matchmaking works.
Always had a long boring time completing those weapon challenges, because in every match I couldn’t find those weapons and when I found those weapons.
I was bad at my game and didn’t get enough kills.
They really should quit those specific challenges until they implement PvP mode with all weapons and vehicles in the mode. So everyone can just play PvP and get those challenges out of the way.
No one wants to wait for the right match.
This system is just created so people use money on challenge swaps.
Such a greedy system.
Agree with the OP but I’m completely at a loss how anyone can possible think that challenges are too hard or restrictive after the recent changes.
I get that there are potential differences in skill and available time to play but I can usually complete my weekly challenges in a few hours without really making a specific effort.
I “love” how the current ultimate challenge requires you to get the “Perfect” medals with, supposedly, a kinetic weapon, yet you can just use the shock rifle, which is the exact opposite of what you can call a kinetic gun… So yeah, the description should be more specific rather than confusing, I remember being unable to get the challenges for getting X kills with MG-somethoing gun because I couldn’t find it anywhere, only later I learned it’s the mounted gun on the buggy… And just like back then I use swaps whenever I don’t understand what the hell the game wants me to do.
And if we’re at it, it would be also great if during in-game you were shown the current status of the challenges, like 4/10 for example, instead of XP you’ll get for that challenge, because that info gives you nothing basically… Just another one of those very simple, basic things every dev does just like that yet 343 struggles with…
Yeah this has been a problem for a while. I’ve played Halo for a long time and if I don’t understand a challenge then how is a new player supposed to understand.
Can we highlight this? Just, please? I’m not trying to be mean here but that is a clear misunderstanding of Hard Light.
Why do you think Plasma could possibly be another state of matter than the one it’s described as? Hard Light is literally light made into mass. Plasma is not even remotely related to that. It’s a state of matter between liquid and solid - and in this case, superheated and contained in an energy field that isn’t made of hard light.
Now to your credit, all it says is, “MELEE | CLOSE” - it really should be telling you “MELEE | PLASMA | CLOSE” - and since it’s labeled Melee? It needs to count as a melee kill.
But, as it stands, the Energy Sword has never once been related to Hard Light. The only Hard Light weapons in the game are the…
Sentinel Beam
Cindershot
Heatwave
All of which are Hard Light / Forerunner.
(The Energy Sword MIGHT show the Plasma Icon.)
If someone jumps straight into multiplayer they really aren’t going to know these things though. Just makes it a bit less friendly for new players than it should be.
Yes I understand the plasma sword counts a plasma weapon. I’m just showing that it’s easy for a new player to be confused. Someone could reason the glowing sword is the only hard thing that looks like light. Even the weapons tutorial doesn’t have all the weapons so you can’t go there to get which weapon is categorized in which place. They can be more specific on challenges to cut back on that confusion.
No disagreement there!
I think all challenges including the final (11th) one should be swappable. IMO
