Challenges that encourage playing the objective

A problem I see constantly in every shooter is people who play objective game types just to get kills rather than playing the objective. Some people do this to pad their stats and some do it for challenges/unlocks. What I’d like to see 343 do in Halo Infinite is have challenges and unlocks go to those who play the objective. For example there could be a coating or armor piece that requires you to capture 50 flags in CTF or get 2 captures in a single game. You could still have challenges for kills but they should be limited to slayer gametypes, this would help keep players that don’t play the objective out of objective based gametypes. You’ll still have people that want to pad their stats but there’s nothing you can really do about that. What do you guys think?

I like the idea, but Halo has enough team kill incentive as is. Adding rewards for things like capturing the flag is going to promote both capturing the flag, and killing the flag carrier so that you can capture the flag.

Perhaps rewarding players for quicker matches in objective game modes could do the same thing? Each team has a higher potential for reward if they can complete the game quickly meaning that killing themselves will only slow the game down. This will also have some sort of downside, probably spawn camping or something.

Yeah I hear you on the team killing, you could change the challenge to include carrying assists that way at least if you do get team killed you’ll still progress through the challenge.

I think it can be fixed by only displaying KD stats for Slayer, and a Win Percentage stat for objective games.

Not a bad idea I suppose. I get where you’re coming from.
