Here some ideas for challenges that don’t force you to go against your team:
- Get X amount of kills
- Get X amount of assists
- Complete a big team battle match
- Complete a quickplay match
- Complete a ranked arena match
- Get X amount of kills in big team battle
- Get X amount of kills in quickplay
- Get X amount of kills in ranked arena
- Win X amount of matches
- Get X amount of headshots
- Get a kill with a grenade of your choosing
- Get X amount of kills with the BR
- Get X amount of kills with the AR
- Get X amount of kills with the Sidekick
- Get X amount of kills with ANY weapon you picked up from a weapon spawn
- Get X amount of kills with ANY weapon you picked up from the ground
None of these challenges will make you go against your own team.
Also, right now there are too many specific challenges that make you ignore the objective or are just frustrating chores instead of actual challenges that force you to play your best.
Get 3 kills with the Oddball. Two things wrong here:
- There is no Oddball playlist. So in order to complete this challenge, you rely on RNG to complete it. If you quit out on NON Oddball matches you get banned. Now there are also XP boosts that only last for an hour. Chances are available you won’t get an Oddball match in an hour of playing. HOW did this challenge make it into the game?
- This challenge goes against the design of Oddball. Oddball wants you to HIDE the ball from the enemy team. This challenge wants you to take the ball to the enemy team and try to get a kill. You will most likely sabotage your own team for trying to complete the challenge.
Get 5 Commando kills for 250 XP. Get 15 Commando kills for 300 XP.
First of all, the person that designed these challenges need to go back to school and take a basic math class.
Second of all, the commando is not a starting weapon, so trying to complete it most likely will make you go aganst your own team. “Sorry I can’t help catching zones, defend the flag or take the Oddball, I need to go to the Commando rifle spawn point over and over and over again, till I completed my challenge!”
Et cetera.
Also, the challenges need to all be open all the time. Hardly anything is more frustrating than getting a no scope sniper kill without it being in the open challenges, and when you actually need one, you can’t seem to get one.
The “only 4 open challenges at a time” is very much a “player last” mentality. It makes challenges a frustrating boring chore instead of something fun to do in game. Having all challenges open all the time is a more “player first” thing to do, 343i. If anybody can complete all 20+ challenges a week, GOOD FOR HIM/HER! Don’t make this news system more frustrating than it needs to be.
On a side note: Add more playlists! It is weird to see Halo 5 (2015) has 16 active playlists and Halo Infinite (2021) only has 4.
