Challenges broken and or bugged

So, i spent the last few days grinding challenges to catch up, some i managed to complete but counting out a whole 3 seasonal, 2 pve and 2 pvp challenges i did today have now completely reset. I made a ticket about it and the response i got was automated customer service brick wall. So it seems like nothing is gonna be done about it and I’m sure there’s many like my self frustrated and annoyed and probably losing incentive to play. If we’re unable to get hard earned rewards for things we’ve done. Want to know how many other people have had this problem and if they too have had a “K w/e” response when inquiring why.

Here’s the ticket response I rec’d. Didn’t work for me but maybe it’ll help:

Thank you for contacting us.

Would you be able to try out the following troubleshooting steps:
Updating your host file:

  1. Open Explorer and navigate to the following location: %WinDir%\System32\Drivers\Etc
  2. Right-click the “hosts” file and create a copy of it.
  3. Rename the copy “hosts_old” or something similar. Move this “old” file to the desktop.
  4. Open the original “hosts” file in Notepad.
  5. Look for an entry of “0.0.0.0 vortex.data.microsoft.com”. If found, delete the entry and save the file. If that entry is not in your Hosts file, please let us know and revert the “old” Hosts file back to its original name and location.
  6. Run MCC and let us know if your achievements unlock.
  7. If you start experiencing any problems with your system or the issue persists, delete the “hosts” file in the Etc folder, rename the “hosts_old” file on your desktop back to “hosts” and place it back in the Etc folder.

Validating your files on Steam:

  1. Head over to your Steam Library
  2. Right-click on MCC
  3. Select ‘Properties’
  4. Select ‘Local Files’
  5. Select ‘Verify the Integrity of Game Files’
  6. After it finishes, restart your computer.

Disable Steam Cloud synchronization for the game

  1. Right-click in the Library -> Properties -> Updates
  2. Delete the folder titled 976730 in your steam profile userdata folder located in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\
  3. Press Windows+R and type in %userprofile%\appdata\locallow then press Enter.
  4. A folder window will open, delete the MCC folder you’ll find there.
  5. Attempt to earn the achievement again.

I honestly don’t have the confidence to mess with anything and start deleting folders or going into system 32 and such. I’m more so hoping for an update fix on the game makers end rather than mine. I know it probably seems like i’m a bit tech illiterate and i am. That whole instruction set is all gobbledegoop to me :frowning: Thanks anyway, i hope this helps any other reader who knows more about computers and such.

If you don’t have the confidence to go nosing around there then don’t worry about it. There’s no reason for that entry to be in the hosts file if you didn’t put it there before. I think the reason 343 said to do that is because some people have been using the hosts file as a hacky way of doing region based matchmaking and may have accidentally put that there without entirely knowing what it is. Unless you followed an online tutorial about doing region based matchmaking, I would not worry about those steps at all.

I’d like my lost progression back.

I think thats a fair want, i counted up all my season points i should have had from XP level ups and random season point rewards and it was about 9-10 season points and 2 whole levels. Unfortunately, i don’t think we’ll be compensated i just want them to fix the issue, and i’ll then go and grind them all again.

I finally decided to do a campaign playlist last week, and after grinding through that I got the XP but no season points and the challenge reset. Super weird.

Hey folks, issues related to challenges are known by 343 and they are investigating. Please do make sure and file a bug report about this on the Halo Support site: https://aka.ms/HaloSupport
