I feel like you either have to either choose between trying to win a match or to try and complete challenges. They are way too specific right now and should be a little more generic; especially when there are customizations locked behind the final weekly challenge. A lot of them are too tedious to do in a reasonable amount of time or they are almost impossible to complete. Things like requiring you to do a specific action/use a specific weapon/vehicle in a specific game mode that you don’t even like, coupled with the fact that you cannot choose game modes makes things not fun. You have to trudge through games hoping that you get the correct game mode or map, and then you have to hope that you are lucky enough to be able to (do highly specific action) to complete the challenge.
Some examples of this would be:
-
Kill an enemy Spartan with a sniper rifle after they have been launched by a man cannon
-
Kill 3 enemy Spartans trying to return their flag (I played for an hour and didn’t get a single game of CTF)
-
Destroy an enemy Scorpion (I played BTB to try and complete this but not a SINGLE Scorpion spawned at all. I’ve only had Wraiths spawn)
-
Kill 3 enemies with a Shock Chain in PvP (You get an Achievement for a shock chain normally. This game wants you to repeat it 3 times. For a WEEKLY challenge. Less than 1% of the player base has the chain reaction achievement…and its a weekly challenge.)
-
Kill enemy Spartans by flattening them with the Repulsor in PvP
I could list more but I think you get the gist. Personally I would change the system by doing some of the following:
-
Using MCC’s challenge system. I think you guys really hit the nail on the head with the system currently in place for MCC. I can’t stress enough on how good of a challenge system it has. They aren’t highly difficult at all and are generic enough so that you don’t have to shoehorn yourself into a specific playstyle and can instead focus on having fun.
-
Give us 1 free challenge swap every week/day.
-
Hopefully when Campaign/Firefight releases, PvE challenges will also count towards the Battle Pass and Weekly cosmetic just like in MCC.
