Challenges are Pointless now.

As the title states, all challenges I complete are completely pointless. I have ranked up to 130, so now getting 20,000 credits for completing the monthly challenge has absolutely no meaning.

I propose this to 343. Change the meaning of SR from Spartan Rank to Spartan Recruit. Once I complete the 130 ranks it is time to start working on the real ranks, private all the way up to Inheritor. After 2 years of playing Halo Reach steadily I never did get past the Nova rank. It made doing those daily and weekly challenges, and my favorite Custom challenges have a real meaning.

Can this be done? If not please 343 explain why it can’t. May I suggest a minor change to how you gain credits as well in this progression ranking.

  1. No game completion credits. So people can’t be AFK just farming crdits.
  2. Set amount of credits for victory if your team wins.
  3. Set amount of credits for FFA placements of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
  4. Add credits for winners and loser based on how much they actually contributed to the teams win. These would be your commendation points. So if you did really well but your team in general didn’t, you would still get some points.
  5. Quitters that leave during the match would suffer a loss of points, which would increase the more often you quit during a match. There would of course be a small grace period for this.
  6. Betrayals, and suicides would also be a loss of credits but not to extreme of leaving your team behind. A good player would be able to gain the credits back by how well he does.
  7. Reduce the amount of credits earned in Spartan Ops to be more in line with a typical online match. AFK players would get kicked and awarded nothing.

With these simple changes it will make doing those challenges and winning your matches all the more important. It also provides some kind of penalty for quitters.

SR-1 thru 130 would only be your starting ranks. Then you start ranking up in military style ranks.

Exactly. 130 is way too low for a final rank. Around 15% of Inheritor.
I was a proud Inheritor. Now im an upset SR 130 as its just way too quick and easy to get.

Alot of people get to the highest rank and stop playing. 343 obviosly doesnt want peolpe actually playing their game it seems.

They don’t need to have a point, if you’re maxed out as many of us are, that’s just what we have to deal with. I complete them simply to up to my stats and enjoy the game as I do.

I know a lot of people wish that Inheritor was easier to get, but now that we’re at the other end of the spectrum we’re wishing Max Rank took longer. I completely agree with the OP, it would be cool to actually have military and then Halo ranks again.

Yeah, challenges aren’t real challenges unless you’re filling an arbitrary XP bar somewhere!

Good idea! This is one piss-poor progression system we have at our hands, and progression systems aren’t that great to begin with.

I agree…tbh, I think 343i is doing this, IMO, to admit to players they failed on Halo 4, so they are giving players the opportunity to rank up to max, finish the game and thats it, and to cut the criticism. Since Nov. 6, i had a feeling this was going to happen. And now, i guess i was right all along.
