So I had one challenge left before my weekly ultimate challenge. Complete one Oddball match. Sounds easy enough right? I had no challenge swaps left and only 2 hours before the weekly challenge reset, so tried my luck at trying to get an Oddball match in Quickplay.
After literally loading into 8 quickplay matches I got every game mode except Oddball (would never leave a ranked game, only left because I know quickplay replaces players)
After deciding to give it one more try before bed I load up another game and BAM. BANNED.
Why was I banned for doing what the game was telling me to do? Try to complete an Oddball match. Should I be punished for leaving 8 games in a row? Yeah probably… but how else was I going to get my challenge.
And there is exactly the problem with the current challenge system. It turns us into annoying players that we don’t want to be…
They said they were decreasing the number of game mode specific challenges. For one, I have my doubts that they did. More importantly, I think they should get rid of them. And get rid of playlist specific challenges while they’re at it. Long term I’d like an overhaul of the progression system, but in the short term these changes would make a lot of people happier I think. I haven’t meet one person happy to be forced into games and play lists they don’t.
Yeah i hate being forced into ranked orTWat. I don’t play halo competitivly nor do i play to play a Nerfed version of halo without shields… always dislike Swat and now they had to change the name which futher sours the game mode for me add in desync and hit registry issues.
Nah mate, no trolling here. It’s quickplay, a new person would have got added in straight away so it’s not like I ruined a ranked game which I would never do.
Do you honestly think the challenge system in place is acceptable?
Hahaha taking things pretty literal there dude… Of course the game didn’t tell me to quit. What it did do was give me a mode specific challenge with no way of selecting that mode at will.
As the Wiseman Obi-Wan Kenobi once said, “You have done that to yourself”. Don’t go blaming challenges for you quitting. Didn’t know it made you quit. Is it some sort of AI that takes over your controller or keyboard?
Yet you don’t value others time because quitting ruins it for them. Sorry you didn’t have enough time, but you have a week, doesn’t have to be done in one day, and at the end of the day, take responsibility for your actions and stop blaming the challenges.
As long as the challenges exist in a cluster lucked playlist, this will always be a problem. If they care about the game’s health they’ll address it. But they probably wont anytime soon because they don’t care that much about player experience
You do have a point, and it is a choice. But these challenges do encourage stuff like this, even if in the end the decision is up to the user. If the system is designed in a way that encourages people to be worse players, then the players do deserve some of the blame, but so does the system. That’s why a general ranking system is better than what we have.
I agree I’d prefer a regular ranking system, but tops a match is 15mins, just finish the match and play another. Personally I’ve gone no more than 3 matches before finding the gametype I need. I’m also in the camp that I do believe something is going on with finding what you need hard, like need oddball matches and takes a while to get one, or need fusion coil kills and you’ll get the two maps in BTB which don’t have them etc.
