Challenge based Progression is not the way to go

Greetings! I come from the Steam Forums, and have pasted my thread from there as I know this forum is more or so the main forums where 343 will look for feedback.

They tested this with MCC. with MCC, after you reach level 100, you no longer gain a season point per level, you then have to go for challenges for the points, forcing you to grind challenges if you want to progress through the BP.

On top of the terrible EXP cap in that game, the progression system in MCC is still pretty uncooperative compared to how other games handle progression.

Now, in Infinite, you don’t gain ANY exp for winning, performing well, or just playing the game you want to, the ONLY way to progress the BP is to complete challenges, so you can play 5 hours the way you want to, and gain almost zero progress through your BP, but your friend can play the same 5 hours and grind the challenges and have a lot more to show for it. Coupled with how many people will be grinding challenges instead of PTFO, gameplay will inevitably suffer. I can go 15/3 with a Killing Frenzy and get nothing for it, and a friend of mine can get five kills with SPNKR and be rewarded for it.

The free BP has challenge swap tokens and the odd Armour colour or Piece, but it’s disappointing to see that there’s literally no reason to even grind the free BP when 90% of the freebies are just tokens to swap what challenge you try to grind.

The way you grind progression will be a large culprit towards dwindling players, because it’s VERY clear that this progression system isn’t tailored to progression, it’s tailored to push you towards spending real money on credits to purchase boosters, but hey, at least you’ll have plenty of challenge swap tokens, to swap to easier challenges to complete to progress your BP to unlock even more challenge swap tokens!

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m loving this game, it runs smooth as butter, plays great, sounds great, feels great, animations are dope and visuals are very nice to look at, but progression is going to be Halo’s collapse.

EDIT: I can see already that a lot of people don’t like the progression system, so that’s already a major cause for concern.
