“IF” Chakas was to show up in Halo 4 it sounds like he is a Durance to me.
Which was a Forerunner device in which the last mental patterns and memories were stored.
So far we have only heard of Forerunners using them but if humans can craft AI based on the human mind (which did possess some of the minds memories) surely the Forerunners had the tech to create something far more effective for the humans of that time period.
If they selected Chakas to be some sort of guardian in a war sphinx or apart of an installation like the monitor this would make sense.
His memory is failing but he must tell his story to the last true reclaimer.
It sounds like he is more AI now and not flesh and blood any longer to me.
I do admit it could somehow be possible he was in stasis and is still organic but the tone of his statements make me the Durance is the more likely choice.
That’s an interesting theory. If his mind is indeed within a War Sphinx or a more advanced equivalent, (Seeker), then that would be something the Chief could climb inside of and use to crush his enemies. That would be sweet.
One theory that I liked was that Chakas is turned into Offensive Bias.
He and the other humans are put on the ring in primordium as test subjects against the flood. Perhaps Chakas rises up and shows particular prowess against the flood, making him an ideal candidate to turn into OB, the one that will be the floods greatest enemy.
Medicant bias’ ultimate flaw was that it was a machine with a machine mind. To a machine, the flood makes more sense because it is simply a superior species in that it is eternal, and all knowledge it gains is eternally stored. But by turning a human into an AI, the flaw is no longer there, and it can fight the flood properly.
I read a short story that would be an interesting plot twist…
Please bear with me, it has a point.
In this story, the Atlanteans, knowing that there society was about to destroyed, created a way to imprint their whole identity into a certain bit of genetic code. In the story, their leader’s gene set is in a poor woman of African descent in a bad London neighborhood. One day a man shows up and begins a process that would return her to her actual Atlantean self. Ultimately he is interrupted by thugs who want to kill her as a message to her son, but enough of the transformation happens that she realizes that the man wasn’t lying. The story ends with her appraising her new found powers and beauty.
It would be interesting if John were some how actually Chackas himself. Just a bit of hardwired DNA awaiting the right process to fulfill his transformation. A process started when Halsey augmented him.
I am sure he will be…(In some form) but I have to put the “If” just to play devils advocate.
If the Forerunners implanted the humans with a Geas perhaps that is where Halsey receives her genius and ability to deal with Forerunner equipment.
Her inspiration to come up with the augmentations for the Spartans and their armor.
Chief (could) be a descendant of Chakas. (This wouldn’t surprise me)
