I have a map that is, admittedly, really stuffed with a ton of detail in a shared space, but I noticed all the sudden several light objects, and a couple player blocker volumes suddenly shifted themselves straight down on the Z Axis a couple hundred feet.
But when I hover over them there illuminates a yellow line going from the objects new location straight to where I initially forged it.
…which leads me to wonder…does that line indicate that the object is not actually moved, and is just a forge glitch that will right itself in a custom game?
…or is it the game just saying “Oops! I -blam-'d up…here, go ahead and put this back where I grabbed it from…right…up…there”.
I dunno…
Does anyone have any insights?
I had a similar issue with my beam emitter prefab- I couldn’t get it to stop so I just took the lights out of it entirely.
I have run into this… I believe it’s something to do with object collision when it starts spawning objects that are phased together (overlapping). Specifically for objects with effects built-in to them.
My most frequent experience with this issue was with a weapon crate that I was attempting to place on the back of a vehicle so that it looks like a car trunk when opened. I had to delete and re-do the placement of the item at least 8 different times… It would stay put after Save but it would get wonky again if I went into Forge often enough. I also saw this happen on actual FX objects such as fire/jets/etc.
P.S. Yes the object is really being moved off the map when this happens. Sometimes when I try to select it using the object list, it kills me and I have to respawn. When I loaded the map after a jet FX got moved, it was visible in the spot 1000m below the map. (It’s a space map so it was clearly visible.)
I can say that all the objects that this has happened with seem to be members of a Prefab, or cluster of grouped objects.
My feeling is that if I “Ungroup” , the individual bits might behave better…but that’s just a theory.
