Certain Affinity reportedly developing new mode for Halo Infinite

Giving users a space to create and distribute their content is never a bad idea. If anything, that’s why a lot of people are unhappy with not having Forged right now because they were always able to do that.

Possible detractions at the moment - specifically its implementations - are purely speculation, such as microtransactions, with no validity until we actually see what the outcome is. Once that happens, then 343 will get blasted/praised as deserved and - for their own sake - will make the sensible changes if the former. But right now, the basic idea of what’s being proposed is not what I consider bad.

I don’t believe it is likely they would be interested in monetizing Forge mode. Just on the common sense level I don’t think it adds up. Like, if they really wanted to do that why didn’t they focus more on it and get it done already? Surely if that was their strategy they would’ve released Forge day 1.

What I do believe is a good possibility though is that maybe they’ll tie it to the Campaign, so users could only use it if they have the Single player (because lots of the assets would be carried over) so in other words it would basically be paid

The problem with is that how would someone that didn’t purchase the MP play the Forge maps that used Campaign assets? Nah, I think they’ll just make everything free.

I didn’t know the upcoming maps for S2 (5) were player created maps.
And I also didn’t know that the 40+ gamemodes that they are planning (intro announcer lines are in the game files) were player created.
Lol, take off your tin foil hat dude, it doesn’t look good on you

I find it highly unlikely that they would monetize Forge and even with the small percentile chance that they would, that would unleash quite the firestorm of Hell upon them in my opinion.

But we’ll see how that goes.

cant believe i never played that custom game. I think youre dead on but I dont understand the negativity. I think its the flood mode.

Didn’t say that. I quoted CA.

With Forge will bring a new playlist that features creator maps and modes. Read.

Yeah, you did

No I literally never said the Season 2 maps and 40+ modes with voices are user generated. You pulled that out your rear. I said user generated content will be featured when Forge comes, most likely without credit given. They can’t possibly supply an ample amount of content in time for Season 2. This is the bandaid solution. They may be bringing Infection and other modes with Season 2, maybe some maps, but it won’t be enough to satisfy people.

Wrong. Game is dying because no new ranked modes or maps.

And like others have said, the devs behind Halo (Bungie/343) have been doing this since CE.

+5 maps
+4-5 gamemodes
That is a good chunk of gamemodes, lol

That’s what I’ve read, I think.
Why are they working on another mode?
Is it in addition to Forge, or is Forge already done?

Perhaps unpopular opinion on here, but Halo survives on ranked alone when it is in a very unhealthy state, not a healthy one. If all but the die-hard ranked community have left the game, it’s already dead.

That said, I 100% agree that we need more ranked playlists & gamemodes.

But that’s a small part of a much bigger problem. There’s just no content in general to keep people coming back. We have the barebones modes from Halo 1 right now and that’s kinda it. That was fine in 2001 but the fps market has moved on big time in the last 20 years. Halo is healthiest when we have a variety of ranked playlist, a variety of core “social” playlists, a few of the more ancillary social playlists (infection, grifball etc.), a coop campaign and a more arcadey pve or pvpve mode, forge, and working customs.

Right now from that list we have a single ranked playlist and just the core social playlists and that’s it. That’s a pitiful amount of multiplayer content for any halo beyond halo 1. No wonder it can’t retain its playerbase.

It’s supposed to be a Spartan Ops/ Survival mode. I could be wrong though.

Ohhh, when was that mentioned? Would love some kind of PVE thing.

I have to find the source of where it was mentioned but it was in the plans for a while for a large PVE mode. Kinda like warzone in a sense but better, much better.

Yeah that makes sense. I remember bringing Warzone Firefight in being a big deal at the time and it’s still gets pretty decent numbers from what I can tell.

Catering to the casuals? That is such a bad take. From day 1, 343 has bent over backwards to cater to competitive crowd.

Who asked for grenade pads? Cleary it’s there for the causals. Just like no collison and the various sound ques for everything in the game. They didn’t cater to the competitive crowd esspically since there is only one ranked playlist.

What they did do was make maps based on HCS. They also kept in Sprint, slide and clamber which by default makes it sweaty.

They built a mix and match game that works for no one except the die hard fans that will play it regaurdless of what it is

Grenade Pads replaced Grenade placements which have been an impact in Halo since the very beginning. So, I’m not sure what you mean by this point.

To be honest, I think most of their decisions were based on feedback by the competitive side, including no-collision. I think that being off impacts casual players more than anything, cause they will constantly run through their enemy and get back-smacked, etc. The thing is the competitive side likely ignores aspects that will be more fun for casual players.

For the record, casual players really don’t enjoy Fiesta or Tactical Slayer that much, at least in Infinite. Why would they? Most of the various weapons are difficult to use. I think my winning record in Tactical Slayer is about %20, lmao.

Casual players enjoy game modes like Grifball, Zombies, and BTB.

Grenades didn’t need to be changes. They changed to make them more visible. This caters to causals.

No collison caters to causals who get upset over body blocking. I garentee you the pros don’t like no collison. It ruins high IQ plays. As a competitive player myself no collison is the WORST thing about this game.

People don’t enjoy feista and tactical slayer BECAUSE THE THRUSTER PACK IS GONE. People fail to realize that’s why made swat and feista fun. The fact that you can dodge in swat. Or the fact that you can fly around in fesita not limited by your Spartans movement. On top of that there was WAY more weapons in feista in halo 5. And even more so when super feista which is argubly the best feista halo has ever had
