Centurion armor looks more like M. Chiefs armor...

Both in Halo 4 and Halo 5 the Mark VI armor looks nothing like the armor Master Chief wears in the campaign. Why is that? I know it’s called “GEN2”, but even if you look at the req card for the Mark VI GEN2 armor, it looks nothing like it.

In the campaign he has those big triangular shoulders. Much like the Centurion armor. In game he has smaller, more rounded shoulder pieces. Even the forearms of Centurion look more like the one Master Chief wears in the campagin. The chest piece of Centurion has maybe the least recemblance with Master Chiefs armor, but still looks a lot like the campaign Master Chief chest piece.

To be honest, I hardly see any difference between the req cards for Mark VI GEN1 and Mark VI GEN2.

Why even make a req card for GEN2 armor and then not showing GEN2 armor? I’m baffled…

Master Chief’s Mark VI Gen 2 is a modification made by Cortana that no other Spartan currently has. While we all hate the explanation, Cortana used the nanobots on the Forward Unto Dawn to transform the Chief’s armor into a unique set when he was asleep. Cortana could have based it on the Centurion armor Fred receives after the events of First Strike and before the events of Halo 2. If it makes you feel better, the 2 reactors on the back of it look very different.

The Gen 2 armor doesn’t have an outer armored codpiece, the Gen 1 version does as a ‘recreation’ of the H2-3 Mark VI with the metal Space Diaper included. Gen 2 is the Halo 4 Mjolnir Gen 2 adaptation of the Mark VI from H2/3, while the Gen 1 seen in H5 is just the Gen 2 copy-pasted with an added metal codpiece. Neither is supposed to be Chief’s H4-5 armor variant.

And while Chief’s campaign armor is cool, it’s supposedly unique to him due to nanobots changing the armor from H3 to H4 and some people would argue that it should stay exclusive to him (not including me, I think his armor and/or his dark washed out olive drab should both be available to players.)

Wow I didn’t know that thanks buddy

The armor worn by the Master chief in the halo 4 and 5 campaigns is a heavily modified version of his armor from Halos 2 and 3. altered and repaired by cortana as a suit designed uniquely for the master chief. as such I feel that If it was brought into the multiplayer, It would defeat the purpose of the “exclusivity” of master chief’s armor.
as for the mark vi available in multiplayer, It is a sort of “old but new” take on the mark vi default from halo 3 for players who prefer to wear the iconic armor into battle.
So I hope that answers your question, Thanks!

You can also use the reaper grim armor which I think is pretty close, the color scheme is a little off though
