I read a thread earlier here about immense exploration and discovery, like back in ODST, for Halo 4. If 343i takes this direction with Halo 4, then I think it might be a good idea to have the Forward Unto Dawn as the central hub. Here the player(s) would be able to prepare themselves for next mission. You could unlock weapon caches in the frigate after completing a certain mission or finding terminals (again like in ODST). I would really like Halo 4 to be one big, open world. Say I select a mission from the start screen, even though I picked that mission, it wouldn’t stop me from being able to go back to an area where I had already completed a different mission. And maybe the frigate could also act as the place where you select your missions. It’s all just my opinion. Any other thoughts?
Interesting concept, sounds kinda like your ship in Mass Effect. I think it would break up the increasing linearity that series has been doing, or give the appearance of it at least.
I love the idea, but 343 is no doubt very deep into the campaign mechanics. Unless this has already been utilized by 343 it won’t happen.

This. Nice as it is, it’s not necessary and they probably don’t have time for it. If we still haven’t got information about a Beta, that means they’re hard at work.

I actually never played Mass Effect, but yeah. ODST was really one of my favorite Halo games since it gave me the feeling as if I was stuck in one location that would take me hours, or even days to explore and fully discover.

I agree, but they still have a year. All they would really have to do is take each mission and add a few new paths to connect them. However, if one mission is on the other side of the planet that Chief is exploring, then that might become an issue. Unless there are Hornets, Pelicans, or any other flying vehicle on the frigate, then it shouldn’t really be too big of a deal. I guess all we can do is wait.
