HALO 5
PROLOGUE – SLIPSPACE RUPTURE
CINEMATIC PERSPECTIVE
FADE IN FROM BLACK

Establishing Shot: Space. Large and without visible planets. Star lights flicker in the far distance. The camera pans to the right.
A slipspace rupture occurs. A small vessel of unknown origin leaves the portal.

Tracking shot: The ship speeds towards the left of the screen, obviously fleeing. It’s damaged and has a short trail of smoke behind it.

Frontal shot on the Portal: Something else leaves the slipspace. It is the nose of a gigantic ship which looks even more different than the first ship.

Close shot on the small ship’s left hull: A turret protrudes from a small socket, turns around and fires at the gigantic nose.

Tracking shot: The projectile flies at full speed and crashes into the nose of the gigantic ship which is halfway through the portal. The nose bursts in yellow flames which immediately disappear.

The cam zooms in on the explosion then pans to the edge of the portal: The portal is electrified and starts to blink and fade.

Behind shot: The portal shuts down and cuts the gigantic ship into half. The remains break and explode.

Zoom in: Through the explosion, the small vessel is seen as it rushes away from the event.

Moving shot, upwards: The cam quickly rises higher and higher.

Overlooking Shot: Cam eventually reveals the Milky Way galaxy. The far edge of the galaxy becomes a thin, bright line as the rest of the screen turns black.

Fade In: The letters “HALO 5” appear.

> Notification Box
> Hello people, I want to write a script for HALO 5. It will be entirely written by me. Since I am not affiliated with 343 Industries or Microsoft, do not take anything I write as fact. I already have the ideas for the entire campaign (but of course, they are subject to change). I will post the missions in irregular periods. Note that I am not of English origin. So there might be wrong expressions or words that I use here. I would be glad if you tell me my mistakes so I can improve on it and ensure you a pleasant perusal. I have scribbles that I will scan and upload in DeviantArt. Everytime, I put a link to my uploads in previous posts, I will notify you in these boxes at the end of every post. Furthermore, I will give short and vague glimpses at the next events of the story. And that’s what I want to finish this first post with now.

MISSION ONE LEVEL I – CIVIL WAR
FADE IN FROM BLACK

Cinematic Perspective: A greenish-pink planet.

Fade In: June 30, 2558

Cut to: Planet surface. It is night. Smokes and flames are seen rising from the plains between two huge brown ridgelines.

Cut to, Side: A JIRALHANAE shoots his Spiker at something out of the screen. One hears a moan. Then, the Brute laughs sarcastically. Suddenly, an energy sword penetrates the Brute’s big belly.

Front shot on the Brute: The Jiralhanae looks up to the sky, an expression of horror is on his face. The sword pulls the Brute higher but nothing can be seen behind him. Suddenly, a SANGHEILI decloakes behind him. His face is not visible. He pulls the Brute’s body closer to his head and grunts in contempt.

Low Ground Level Shot: The Brute’s corpse falls to the ground. Smoke rises from the wound in his back.

Moving shot, upwards: The wielder of the Energy Sword is revealed: It is THEL’VADAM, more commonly known as THE ARBITER. A distant explosion can be heard.

Rotating Shot, To The Left: The Arbiter looks up to the left. He looks at a nearby ELITE MAJOR who returns the glimpse.

Fade To Black

The player is now in control of the Arbiter. The first thing one notices is that the HUD is gone. There is a small faint reticle in the center of the screen. The motion sensor and health bar are on the armor of the right and left arm now. A small sign for the armor ability is holographically shown at the upper left corner of the screen. Also the player sees more of his environment because of the physical nature of the Elite’s head.

First person gameplay perspective: The Arbiter automatically takes out his Carbine which does not have the original shimmering violet casing but a green one with yellow lights on it.
The Elites will talk in their own Sangheili language with subtitles translating it into our language.

Fade In and Out: Six Years, Six Long Years …

SANGHEILI MAJOR (in Sangheili): <“We need to move to the Holy Cathedral, brother. Follow me.”>

If the player doesn’t follow him the Elite Major will run a few meters, then stop and look back at the player. If the player continues to wait at the location, the Elite Major will say:

ELITE MAJOR (in Sangheili): <“We don’t have all day to take a rest. Our enemies are relentless. And so we have to be!”>

The Player might still wait and the Elite will say:

ELITE MAJOR (in Sangheili, contemplating): <“The war is bad. I hope we can end it today. With half of our strength, we might just be equal to the Brutes. That’s unacceptable!”>

If the Player does not move at all, an explosion will be heard.

ELITE MAJOR (in Sangheili): <“Did you hear that? The enemy is closing in.”>

If one does not wait: The player follows the Sangheili Major up a cliff. The dark brown stone is bathed in violet and red blood. Corpses of both Elites and Brutes lie on the way. The surrounding consists of dark brown rocky hills that cannot be jumped upon. Only the place where the Player starts has an open area where the mountainous landscape can be viewed from. Shots and explosions fly through the air. War cries and rifle fire are clearly audible. The sky is dark with brown and black clouds. It looks like a thunderstorm is about to reach the area.
The Player moves up the flat hill and is illuminated by a strong white-yellow sun that glimpses through the dark clouds at the surface. The Arbiter now stands at a cliff. Under him is a very vast field, about one kilometer down the cliff. Wraiths and Scarabs and Ghosts are battling each other on the fields below. Hordes of Brutes are engaged with Sangheili warriors. Two Banshees fly past the Arbiter from the right to the left.

ELITE MAJOR (in Sangheili): <“A massacre. Let’s precede to the Cathedral.”>

The Arbiter and his Elite Major take a way through the cliffs to the right. They walk a narrow path. The rocks at both sides of the way look like tall guardians. Then, the Elite Major jumps to the side. The Arbiter automatically looks up and he sees shadows rushing along the edge of the rocks to his right.

ELITE MAJOR (disgusted): “Skirmishers.”

The Arbiter and the Elite Major continue to a more open way. Huge Covenant pillars appear before them. The Elite Major raises his Elite Carbine, targeting blue balls at the pillars. But suddenly, a pink needle penetrates his shoulder and he falls to the knees. If the Player turns around, he will see a Skirmisher leap over the rocks and disappear. The Elite Major groans.

ELITE MAJOR (in Sangheili, in pain): <“It is stuck within me. Those cowards! Too afraid of an open fight. Brother, you must continue. Look up. See those blue energy cores? Shoot all four of them. That will lower the pillars.”>

The player now has a basic target tutorial. There are four pillars. Each of them has one blue ball. Two to the West and East, two to the North and South. After shooting one, the ball explodes and the violet pillar slides into the ground. After all four of them are shut down, the way is free.
The Elite Major now walks instead of running. He holds the Elite Carbine in one hand and his shoulder with the other. He will groan sometimes. The violet needle sparkles in his chest.
The Player is able to do an assassination on every ally. Yet, it is not recommended as all your allies will start attacking you. If the Player tries to assassinate the Elite Major, he will not kill the Sangheili but instead pull out the pink needle and throw it away so it bursts on the ground. This causes the Elite Major to moan in relief. If the Player does not pull out the needle, the Sangheili Major will continue to bask in agony and if played on Legendary, the needle will explode in the Elite’s chest when he reaches the next valley.
Near the end of the long corridor of rocks, the Arbiter and his Elite Major encounter a group of Grunts running towards them. The Grunts were not prepared to engage the Elites so it is easy for you to take them out – even on higher difficulties. Three of the eight Grunts will not attack you. They instead take cover and beg you not to kill them.

GRUNT 1: “Oh, Mighty Elite Leader, I poor Grunt. Please! Not kill us!”

GRUNT 2: “Wah! Big Elites – dangerous warriors! Run! Run for life!”

GRUNT 3: “Good Elites! Mighty they are! We bow (the Grunt bows) in front of Mighty Elites. They have pity with small Grunts, yes?”

The Player now has three possibilities: Kill the Grunts. Ignore the Grunts. Or exchange their weapons. If the Player decides to exchange the weapons of the Grunts, they will start to follow you and prove to be useful assets in the coming fight.

HALO 5 – Mission 1 – Civil War – Part II

The Arbiter and his Elite Major reach the end of the way. On top of a ledge, they overlook a huge field. In the center of the field is a Covenant Mega-Turret. Elites are desperately defending the area. The Player still has the chance to get used to the gameplay as the Jiralhanae will not attack him at once. The Brutes are too busy fighting the Elites.
Once you have cleared the area of hostile forces, one of the Elites will approach you.

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <“Brother, you made it! The Brutes have come in masses. We could hardly defend this area. We need reinforcements. Otherwise the turret site will fall. We just–“>

An explosion at the mega-turret controls interrupts him. Everyone looks towards the turret. An Elite Ranger glimpses out of behind the control terminals.

ELITE RANGER (in Sangheili): <“Leader! The controls are burned. Overheated plasma charges damaged the energy converter.”>

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <“That much for the defense of the turret.”>

ELITE MAJOR (in Sangheili, to the Elite Ranger): <“Can it be repaired?”>

ELITE RANGER (in Sangheili): <“Yes, but it will take a lot of time.”>

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili, turning back toward the Arbiter): <“Time we don’t have. We must find a way to get the Jiralhanae off this planet.”>

ELITE MAJOR (in Sangheili): <“Join us, brother! We could use your help.”>

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <“Where are you going?”>

ELITE MAJOR (in Sangheili): <“We’re going to the Holy Cathedral. There is still a weapon cache hidden at that place.”>

If the Elite Major is dead the conversation will be different:

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili, to the Elite Ranger): <“Will you fix it?”>

ELITE RANGER (in Sangheili): <“Yes, but it will take a lot of time.”>

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili, turning back toward the Arbiter): <“Time we don’t have. We must find a way to get the Jiralhanae off this planet.
Brother, where are you going? I suspect you could use our help out there.”>

ELITE RANGER (in Sangheili): <”We need more weaponry to defend this place, Leader!”>

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”Wasn’t there a weapon cache hidden at the Holy Cathedral? Brother, join us in our fight. We must retrieve the weapons to fight off the Jiralhanae.”>

The SpecOps Elite lifts and activates his Energy Sword.

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <“Alright then. Brothers, we split in two groups. One will defend this site until the turret is repaired. The other group will join us to the Holy Cathedral! We will use the weapons of the Kaidons and bomb the -Yoink- Brutes off our homeworld!”>

The Elites raise their weapons and shout out a war cry. The SpecOps Elite steps back and disappears by activating his camouflage.

Fade In and Out: Ouch! That will hurt

The seven Elites now head to the other end of the valley. When they reach a certain point two Covenant Spirits will fly past over their heads. One of them is shot down by a VERY fast plasma charge. It crashes about 50 meters in front of the group.

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <“The Brutes have no chance against our defenses!”>

Suddenly, an explosion paints the horizon in black, blue and white. A violet-silver mushroom head lifts in the distance.

ELITE MAJOR (in Sangheili): <“By the Gods! What was that?”>

The group reaches the crashed Covenant Spirit. The ground is covered with corpses of Brutes, Jackals, Drones. A lone Brute crawls over the ground in pain. It groans. The Player can kill it. If one just watches though, the Brute will slowly crawl towards a Spiker. The Brute grabs the Spiker and tries to shoot the Player but will quickly succumb to its own wounds.
Behind the Covenant Spirit is the entrance to a subterranean Sangheili building. The group enters a long dark tunnel. Dim lights make it difficult to see anything. After a few meters, the Sangheili are attacked by berserking Brutes. Half of the group is torn apart. But they manage to kill the Brutes. Hissing can be heard. The Arbiter leaves through a door to a great chamber. There is a ledge in front of him. The two doors to his right and left are locked. Looking down into the chamber, one can see two more protruding ledges. The group drops down to them and surprises some very unprepared Kig-Yar. The Kig-Yar will open fire on the Player but they are no match. At the ground level, a group of Jiralhanae is awaiting the Sangheili. Once they are got rid of, the remaining Elites will walk through a corridor that is shaped like an “L”. The exit door leads to the real battlefield.

> The Arbiter and his group reaches the Holy Cathedral and they have to realize that not every plan is successful.

HALO 5 – Mission 1 – Civil War – Part III

The ground is broken by many lava capillaries. The Player will be awed by the battle. Many ex-Covenant forces are fighting each other. To the right are Spirits dropping Brute reinforcement. The reinforcement will engage Elite Zealots. Also there are Wraiths that are being surrounded by Elite Ghosts. From the left side of the battlefield, Yanme’e are in pursuit of Ranger Elites that rush over the Arbiter’s head to the right. Two Scarabs drop down on Spectres at the left side of the battlefield. A bunch of Banshees immediately leaves the sky battle and runs a bomb mission on the Scarabs. Three Elite Phantoms land to the Arbiter’s left. They intend on dropping Honor Guard Wraiths but Jiralhanae Seraphs take them out. Skirmishers are rushing over the field. Jackals take out Grunts from deployed lookout towers. Suicide Grunts close in on Elite Spectres from behind.

While the Player is not able to reach those areas to the left and the right because of the lava streams, they are able to kill the enemies on the other plateaus by sniping. The Arbiter’s way leads through the middle. A ramp at the left side of the platform the Elites are standing on leads down to the battlefield.

If one goes down on the main plateau and immediately turns around, one will see a cave with two rock pillars inside. One can go inside that cave and the Player will discover a Forerunner terminal at the back of the second pillar. The Arbiter has to place his hand on it. The terminal will scan him and then open up a hard light display. One may watch the terminal video at once.

Fade In and Out: Lots of Tasks, yet Nothing to Do

At the far side of the battlefield, a huge cloud of smoke slowly rises to the sky. Burning sparks lift up. The way in front of the Sangheili group bends upward. At the end, there is a destroyed Shadow blocking the sight. The SpecOps Elite decloakes next to the Arbiter.

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”The Brutes are attacking the Holy Cathedral!”>

ARBITER: “No. Worse.”

The Elites continue. Suddenly, a Prowler flies by from the right in front of them and crashes into a big rock to the left. A Chopper follows and explodes upon crashing into the Prowler. The Elites look to their right. A Spectre stops at the top of a rocky ramp on the other plateau. The Elites shout, then drive off.

ELITE MINOR (in Sangheili): <”Hail to Sanghelios!”>

The Arbiter has to climb up the destroyed Shadow in front of him. When he reaches the top, he can see the destroyed Holy Cathedral, burning in violet flames. The Elites at your side will be most shocked.

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”Those -Yoinks!-!”>

ELITE MINOR (in Sangheili): <”They bombed the Cathedral!”>

ELITE RANGER (in Sangheili): <”The weapon cache!”>

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”Too late. We can’t get in there.”>

ELITE MINOR (in Sangheili): <”What now?”>

In front of the player down the hill, there is a horde of about 30 Jackals crawling at one place. Suddenly, the Jackals are hurled away like from an explosion: It is two Hunters that were occupied by the bird-like aliens. The Hunters burst out and smash and kick the Jackals. If the Player helps them and the Hunters survive, they will join the party.
Spirits swarm the Player’s back. The Arbiter’s group runs to the foot of the Holy Cathedral. The Cathedral itself is a big triangular Sangheili building. It imitates the Forerunner architecture vaguely. Most of it is destroyed. Smokes and flames rise towards the sky. The dust dominates the sky above the battlefield. Banshees are purchased by the Covenant Seraphs.

While the Elites are closing in on the Cathedral, the SpecOps Leader will say:

SPECOPS LEADER (in Sangheili, pointing at a cave): <”There is an opening in the basin!”>

The group heads for it but they are interrupted by the Cathedral’s spire falling down in front of them and cutting their way off. The Arbiter is thrown back.

Fade To Black

First person perspective: The Arbiter raises his head. He turns around and looks at the Elites. They are slowly getting up, coughing and groaning. One of them was hit by a rock. Another Elite bows over him. The Arbiter looks at the SpecOps Leader. His armor has a malfunction: It cloaks and decloakes continuously.

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”My armor!”>

The Arbiter views that more Spirits land. He quickly gets up.

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”Brother!”>

The Arbiter looks to the SpecOps leader. The latter tosses the Arbiter a Plasma Launcher.

Fade To Black

First person gameplay perspective: The Player can move freely again. There are plenty of rocks to take cover behind. The Spirits now open fire upon the group. The Player has to hold out as more and more Covenant forces arrive. The Elites and the Hunters will help the Player as best as they can.

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”Shipmaster! We need assistance! The Brutes flood the Holy Cathedral.”>

RTAS’VADUM (in Sangheili, over Comlink): <”The Holy Cathedral has been destroyed. The Brutes have no reason to attack it.”>

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”We are stuck here!”>

RTAS’VADUM (in Sangheili): <”Hold out, brothers! The Gods will help you!”>

Now a Brute Captain Ultra drops out of a Spirit. It wields a Gravity Hammer. If the Player shoots the Brute Captain Ultra from a distance, it will retreat and switch to a Fuel Rod Cannon. It is recommended to lure the Brute Captain Ultra to the Player’s group and let the Hunters finish the job. Two more Spirits arrive and drop Prowlers. The Prowlers will stubbornly try to surround the Player’s group. Now it is wise to protect the Hunters as they can effectively destroy the vehicles but they are also easily taken out by the mounted turrets.
When the Prowlers and the Brute Captain Ultra are killed, a Spirit will arrive but it is shot down by two decloaking Elite Phantoms. The Phantoms are bombing the Brutes with plasma fire. The Elites in the Arbiter’s group cheer and get out of cover.

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”The reinforcement!>

The Phantoms descend next to each other. A green powerful beam penetrates one and pushes it towards the second Phantom. Both of them crash and burst in white fire. One of the Scarabs has turned towards the Cathedral ruins.

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”NO!”>

HALO 5 – Mission 1 – Civil War – Ending

The Elites take immediate cover.

RANGER ELITE (in Sangheili): <”We must get onto the Scarab and destroy its core. Brother, take my Jetpack!”

The Ranger Elite takes off his Jetpack and tosses it to the Arbiter. The Arbiter grabs it. But now the second Scarab turns towards them. Both pincer approach the group. The Elites are desperate. With the back to a covering rock, the SpecOps Elite takes a deep breath.

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”By the Blood of our Fathers … we will face death with Honor, brothers!”>

ELITES (in Sangheili): <”HOORAY!>

The entire group gets out of cover and turns toward the Scarabs, guns at their ready. The Scarabs load their main cannons and more Brute Spirits arrive. From the left and right, Wraiths are closing in. The Elites start running towards the enemy force.
A white flare lightens up the sky. The Scarabs stop charging up their weapon and look upward. But a moment later, a massive beam lowers down on them. The Scarabs disappear in the Cleansing Beam of a Destroyer. The Spirits scatter but cannot escape the target system of the Destroyer’s pulse laser turrets. Everything on screen is devoured by the flare.

FADE TO WHITE
CINEMATIC PERSPECTIVE

Long Distance Shot, Zoomed In: The Arbiter’s group stands in a storm of white sand. Rocks and wreckages fly past them.

Receding Shot: The whirlwind weakens as the Destroyer ceases the Glassing.

Upper Body Shot: The Arbiter lowers his arm in front of his face and looks up to the Destroyer.

Under Shot: Fuel Rod Charges hit the Destroyer’s hull and tear a few holes in it.

Medium Distance Shot, Side: The Arbiter looks to his left and discovers three Anti-Air-Wraiths. The AA-Wraiths fire at the Destroyer.

Tracking Shot: The Arbiter’s hands as they take the Plasma Launcher from his back. The Arbiter aims at the AA-Wraiths. The nose of the Plasma Launcher charges up and starts glowing.

Frontal Shot: The Arbiter fires five quick plasma charges out of his weapon.

Camera Perspective Pans Overhead: The plasma charges rush through the air towards the AA-Wraiths. The first AA-Wraith dodges but it’s caught by one charge. The other four charges hit the second AA-Wraith behind the first one. The two AA-Wraiths are too close to each other and both of them explode. The last AA-Wraith turns towards the Arbiter.

Overhead Shot: The Arbiter quickly recharging his Plasma Launcher. The AA-Wraith charges his Fuel Rods. The Elites move into the frame and fire at the AA-Wraith with everything they got: Plasma Rifles, Carbines, Needle Rifles, Plasma Grenades. The AA-Wraith fires.

Tracking Shot, Behind: The fuel rod charge flies towards the Arbiter who steps back but isn’t quickly enough. The two Hunters step in front of the Arbiter and go into defense. The fuel rod charge impacts on their shield and throws them back.

If the Hunters are already dead, the Elites will take their shields and do the same in this cutscene, protecting the Arbiter from the charge. If even the Elites died in the battle before, the AA-Wraith will not fire at all.

Short Distance Shot, Side: The Hunters’ weapons charge up quickly and release a powerful green beam. Alternatively, it is the Arbiter who releases powerful plasma charges on the AA-Wraiths.

Zoom out: The beams fly over the field and hit the AA-Wraith. It is pushed back and explodes.

Rotating Shot: The Elites cheer. The Hunters dance. The Arbiter looks around, then upwards and views as the smoking Destroyer lowers down behind the mountain at back of the Holy Cathedral.

> So this was the first mission. Its ending was not that long. As I stated before, I want the first mission to be grand in scale, throwing the player immediately into the civil war on Sanghelios, yet retain the full stress of such a battle. That is why most of the time, you will not be attacked.
>
> So let’s talk a bit – as I promised – about what I want to focus on in the story of HALO 5:
> HALO 5 must show the many facettes of the post-war times. We will play as both the Arbiter and the Master Chief. But I don’t want it to be a second HALO 2. This time it will tell a different, more complex story. If you don’t want to be (a little bit) spoilt, don’t continue to read this post.
>
> The ARBITER:
> The Arbiter is tired of war. He wanted peace but he only achieved the opposite. He thinks that the matters of the Elites are their own problem and he is very reluctant to take help from others. We will experience him as a leader. It will start with him being very hesitant on the choices but later in the game, the Arbiter starts to become a true leader. Unfortunately, he will experience something shakening his trust.Commander THOMAS LASKY:
> Lasky will be in pursuit of his nemesis, Jul’Mdama. Jul’Mdama killed one of Lasky’s long time friends in Spartan Ops. But that is not the only reason why he pursues 'Mdama. We will see Lasky interact more with the Master Chief, accompanying him and helping the Chief out many times. I want to make a slight, delicate and careful connection between Lasky’s roles in HALO 5 and HALO 4: Forward Unto Dawn. But I am very careful with that. I don’t want to screw up the story that was created around him by the real experts. Also we will see how much of a leader Lasky has to be in order to save the galaxy … and what sacrifices he must commit.A.I. ROLAND:
> Roland is a very strange A.I. in my opinion. But he is a good guy. He will not replace Cortana but he will give intel. There is a secret that Roland had locked away aboard the UNSC Infinity. When and if that secret will be revealed … we will see in mid-game.Second part comes with the next post.

GRID TERMINAL ONE: GENOCIDE

Opening Shot: Forerunner glyphs appear and fade out to black.

FADE FROM BLACK

First Person Perspective: The view is blurred. It slowly focuses. There is a heads-up-display on the edges of the screen. The view heads to the left. A Sangheili’s face appears. It looks at the viewer.
The Sangheili speaks in an incomprehensible and faint gibberish. It is nude. The view rises a bit. More Elites enter the view. They are building with massive stone blocks.
The view moves to the left, looking down at the ground. There are no feet, just a round shadow. The lines of the heads-up-display suddenly brightens up in a yellow color and the view raises, looking at the Elites.
The Elites are looking up in the sky, wondering what it is that they are seeing. The view quickly turns around, revealing the full building site that is high above a green jungle. There are mountains visible in the far distance.

But the view does not center on the scenery. The viewer is looking at an immense ring of steal and metal that is hovering above the red sky. A lot of Elites just gaze at that ring.
The viewer turns to the right for a quick moment to look at the Elite next to him who is speaking something incomprehensible again. All the Elites shout in shock. The viewer quickly looks back at the Halo.

A white flare has appeared in its center. The ring’s edges are burning in white flare as well. Suddenly, from the edge of the ring, a small charge flies towards the central flare.
The charge and the flare burst on impact. Everything is drawn into the center of the ring. In a split moment, the light is gone. Then a huge fireball grows. A sonic boom deafens the viewer. The fireball impacts on the planet. A wave of bright light devours the horizon, the mountains, the jungle.
The viewer does not have time to escape. Nor have the Elites. When the fire reaches them, they are burned away. It is a blinding effect. Ashes fly toward the viewer. The cam looks to the right. A bubble shield projects between the viewer and the Elite. One sees the Sangheili lose its skin and flesh. Then, the bones become ash and they are drawn with the pulse.
A second boom can be heard. The viewer looks back towards the Halo only to be overwhelmed by a second white wave in the next moment.

FADE TO AND FROM WHITE

First Person Perspective: Cam looking at the sky. The viewer is deafened and there are many white spots appearing it their eyes. Everything slowly becomes normal. The cam raises and looks around. White sand hovers like a veil over the plains and is drawn far up in space.
The viewer turns around. It looks at the distance again. But what they see now is flying ashes. The building, miles away now, is wiped off any dirt. The jungle has turned into a brown porridge. The clouds at the horizon are burnt away. All that remains is a far wave of white light cutting through the star shining in the sky. The Halo Ring is where it had been before. It looks lifeless again, only hovering over the now empty planet.
The viewer looks at their side. They see a white spot. The spot is where the Elite had stood before. The viewer looks around, and then shakes their head. It starts moving very fast towards the air over the jungle porridge.

The cam pans to the left and zooms in, focusing on a long Forerunner spire that is shining in gold and red metallic light.

ABRUPT FADE TO BLACK

Forerunner glyphs appear again and end the video.

> The second part of the story themes and topics:
>
> The MASTER CHIEF:
> The Chief is alone, a lone wolf. And he has to get along with his solitude. Even though Lasky becomes his new companion, he will not be a replacement for the sidekick Cortana was. The Chief will not become Lasky’s father either. It is a very basic relationship: A hero creating a hero. Chief’s inner struggle must become visible in the campaign without making him a -Yoink!-. This is maybe my hardest job. But I’ll do my best. The Master Chief must not only learn to be human, he must learn to be a right leader, a leader that is neither machine nor consists of carrying out orders. We have already seen a glimpse of that in HALO 4. He will once more ally with the Arbiter. They are not friends but they respect each other as warriors of their kind.Shipmaster JUL’MDAMA:
> Jul’Mdama is as evil as before. And he has succeeded with his plans. He took something from Requiem and is now pursued by Commander Lasky. 'Mdama’s way is determined by the faith of a given promise. And his plans go farther than the story could plot out. He also has more allies than we know.CORTANA and the GRAVEMIND:
> They are dead and will not appear. But they are part of John-117’s memories. The SANGHEILI:
> The Sangheili already play a big role in the HALO universe. But they are not seen as a living race with a flourishing culture. That is what I want to show in HALO 5. The Elites’ culture resembles a lot the way of life of the ancient Samurai. I will consider that when writing about the Elites. But it will take some time to get informed on that subject. My intention is to create a complex (but not too complex) and dark plot which involves the Elites a lot and shows their interracial relations. The HALO RINGS:
> Well, let’s consider their decommissioning. So that’s it. I will include more than the stories of these characters, of course. But I don’t want to spoil you any further. This is just the basic outline, the ideas that are floating around in my head.

Very good so far. I love the terminal, very well done.

What I’d encourage you to do, however, is to take advantage of the advanced hardware of the 720 (which Halo 5 is supposed to be on). Obviously, we don’t know it’s full capabilities, but you should feel free to include parts in the game that you might not have been able to do on the 360.

I look forward to the next installment.

Thanks for the feedback. I am not quite sure how to include options that were not available on the Xbox 360. I haven’t read anything about the Xbox 720’s new options so far.

Right now, I am trying to go deeper into the missions. It’s pretty hard because there is alot to tell. Yet, most of it must happen before Mission 7 (since that is a very special level in the game). I am also reading about the Primordial. Another little challenge is to find references in HALO 4 that I can connect with HALO 5’s story. It seemingly all depends on Spartan Ops. But we just saw the first half of season one.

The terminals will explain something that’s going to be important in HALO 6. Wow, so much work to do, haha.

MISSION ONE LEVEL II – DESPERATE MEASURES
FADE IN FROM BLACK
Cinematic Perspective
Moving Shot, To The Left: The camera moves from the crashed Destroyer at the right to an ancient observation building to the left.

CHZRAN’RASUM (Elite General, in Sangheili, voice over): <”We already glass our own homeworld. We can’t be serious!>”

Fade To: The interior chamber. It is a circular platform that wraps around a main auditorium, similar to the open platforms at the water side of the Ark Cartographer.

RTAS’VADUM (in Sangheili, voice over): <”Our internal strife has weakened the Sangheili.”>

American Shot: Reveal a whole bunch of Elites standing more or less in a circle. The Arbiter leans on a pillar. There are Covenant crates and two Covenant spires in the background. The chamber itself is extremely dark. Only small slit-like windows allow dim light to enter.

There are enough Elites in the Chamber being busy. One can see Elites develop strategies on holo-projection tables in the background. But most of them enter and quickly leave the observation building again, ready to wage war.

There are seven Elite leaders around the Arbiter: The Elite General wears a golden armor. His skin is reddish and his name is CHZRAN’RASUM. The Arbiter or THEL’VADAM still has the jetpack on his back. His golden armor looks shinier than ever before. To his right stands the SPECOPS LEADER. He has taken off his armor and is nude. There is a scar on his forehead which bleeds. His skin is pitch black. Also there is an Elite Zealot, KATO‘KIYOMASA, wearing gold armor with cyan lights on it. The armor has an interesting crimson shimmer on it when being turned in light. RTAS’VADUM is also part of the group. He wears a unique, ornate armor, a clear reminder of the armor he wore at the end of the Human-Covenant-War. But it also includes aspects of the older more traditional armors of Sangheili Ultras and Special Operations Elites. On the opposite side of Rtas’Vadum stands an Elite Ultra. He is called ASANO’NAGANORI. His armor is pure white with silver elements. The lights of his armor are green. His headgear is the same as from any Elite Ultra who fought on Reach. That is something special to Asano: The outdated headgear reminds him of his victories on the human colony. The last one of the party is a very silent and relatively small Elite Commando. His armor is tinted in gold and an exotic green. The lights on his armor flare in a gold-yellowish color. The Elite’s name is MORIHEI‘UESHIBAI.

Focus On: Asano’Naganori (Elite Ultra) looking up from the ground.

ASANO’NAGANORI (Elite Ultra, in Sangheili): <”The Jiralhanae have many followers. Do you think the Prophets stand behind their attack?”>

Receding Shot, Quickly: Rtas’Vadum clenches his fist.

RTAS’VADUM (in Sangheili): <”The Prophets are dethroned. I suspect those savages intend to build their own empire.">

Overhead Shot: on Rtas’Vadum. The Elites turn their head towards him.

KATO’KIYOMASA (Elite Zealot, in Sangheili): <“One more reason to wipe their kind out.”>

ASANO’NAGANORI (Elite Ultra, in Sangheili): <”They are more organized than I thought. They might have a leader.”>

MORIHEI‘UESHIBAI (Elite Commando, in Sangheili): <”A new Chieftain of the Jiralhanae?!”>

Side Shot: The Elite Zealot, SpecOps Leader and Rtas’Vadum growl.

RTAS’VADUM (in Sangheili, in disgust): <”Perhaps. It’s been a long time since Tartarus was killed.”>

CHZRAN’RASUM (Elite General, in Sangheili): <”Without reinforcement and unity, we will be overrun. I see no way to drive them off this planet.”>

MORIHEI‘UESHIBAI (Elite Commando, in Sangheili): <”I … know a way that might work.”>

Rotating Shot: Everyone looking towards him. Morihei’Ueshibai steps out of the shadow as he speaks. He looks around.

MORIHEI‘UESHIBAI (Elite Commando, in Sangheili): <”We are in possession of an ancient weapon buried and left behind by our forefathers. And it has not yet fallen into the Brutes’ hand.”>

KATO’KIYOMASA (Elite Zealot, in Sangheili): <”The Spire!”>

Focus On: Asano’Naganori (Elite Ultra) and Chzran’Rasum (Elite General) are shocked by that idea.

ASANO’NAGANORI (Elite Ultra, in Sangheili): <”Has it really come this far now? We are Sangheili, the best warriors in the galaxy. And now we rely on the machines of a race that is extinct? We once swore never to touch these holy artifacts. We proved that we can endure without them. It is a question of honor, brothers!”>

MORIHEI’UESHIBAI (Elite Commando, in Sangheili): <”This is not about honor – we HAVE to use the advantages of our world to win this war.”>

CHZRAN’RASUM (Elite General, in Sangheili): <”But–„>

KATO’KIYOMASA (Elite Zealot, in Sangheili): <”What do you think will happen? Our clans are split. Our technology is lost. Our wounds are deeper than they appear.”>

Moving Shot, Behind: Following Rtas’Vadum’s view as he looks to the Arbiter.

RTAS’VADUM (in Sangheili): <”Brother, what do you think about this?”>

Focus On: The Arbiter’s right eye as he looks up from the ground and strictly at the group.

ARBITER (in Sangheili): <”I have doubts: We don’t know what these machines can do. We don’t know if they are real weapons.”>

MORIHEI’UESHIBAI (Elite Commando, in Sangheili): <”The scripts have been deciphered–“>

Jump To: Chzran’Rasum as he snarls at the Elite Commando right to him.

CHZRAN’RASUM (Elite General, in Sangheili): <”By the Prophets. And their lies still harm us.”>

ASANO’NAGANORI (Elite Ultra, in Sangheili): <”If their translation was wrong … the Forerunners’ machines will quickly turn on us. Although we are outnumbered, we have strategic superiority over the Brutes. We don’t search for domination. We are not Jul’Mdama.”>

Low Perspective, Looking Up At: Chzran’Rasum (Elite General) talks to the group. Behind him, there is a narrow long window illuminating him with dim sunlight from behind.

CHZRAN’RASUM (Elite General, in Sangheili): <”And even if they are weapons, how can we be sure that they will help us defeat our enemies?”>

Moving Shot: Cam rises and pans over to the Elite Zealot.

KATO’KIYOMASA (Elite Zealot, in Sangheili): <”The Gods have left them behind for us. We must trust their advanced technology.”>

Focus On: The Arbiter looking up at the window behind Chzran’Rasum.

ARBITER (in Sangheili): <”Were it so easy to rely on the Ancients’ stories.”>

RTAS’VADUM (in Sangheili): <”What will we do?”>

MORIHEI’UESHIBAI (Elite Commando, in Sangheili): <”We should respect the opinion of those who are aged with war.”>

Medium Range, Side: Most of the Elites nod.

RTAS’VADUM (in Sangheili): <”Does anyone object?”>

ARBITER: “No.” (continues in Sangheili) <”Kato’Kiyomasa, what is your decision?”>

Zooming In, Focus On: Everyone looks at Kato’Kiyomasa. Kato’Kiyomasa reflects for a moment, then says:

KATO’KIYOMASA (Elite Zealot, in Sangheili): <”It is time to eradicate the remnants of the Covenant. The Sangheili will prove their true status in the galaxy. We will use the Weapons of the Gods and defeat the savage Brutes!”>

HALO 5 – Mission 1 – Desperate Measures – Part II

RTAS’VADUM (in Sangheili): <”Then we must move. Let’s go to the Spire of Illumination!”>

Side Shot: Everyone getting busy. The Arbiter walks by Kato’Kiyomasa towards the window behind the Elite General. Kato’Kiyomasa snarls commands at the other Elite leaders.

KATO’KIYOMASA (Elite Zealot, in Sangheili): <”Arbiter, stay and secure the observatory.”>

The Arbiter passes by Rtas’Vadum.

Behind Shot on Arbiter: Rtas’Vadum halts the Arbiter by putting a hand on his shoulder. Both look at each other.

RTAS’VADUM: <”We will end this war today, brother.”>

ARBITER: <”I wish that was true.”>

Rtas’Vadum is quiet for a moment.

RTAS’VADUM (in Sangheili): <”You will get your peace.”>

Rtas’Vadum walks off. The Arbiter precedes.

FADE TO AND FROM BLACK

Cut to: An external terrace of the observatory. The Arbiter leaves the shadows of a hallway. He looks up.

Tracking Shot: Two Phantoms fly around the observatory, to the left of the Arbiter’s view. They are accompanied by three Banshees.

Tracking Shot: On Arbiter’s front. Next to him an Elite Minor appears. The Elite Minor has a Covenant holopad in his hands.

Arbiter (in Sangheili): <”Uri’Dan, check the scans.”>

Mid-Range Shot, Looking Up: Two Brute CCS-Class Cruisers circle in a not-so-far distance around the observatory.

ARBITER: “Sigh.”

Side Shot: The Arbiter looking at the battlecruisers. Uri’Dan looks up from his pad as he notices the Arbiter’s “grief”.

URI’DAN (in Sangheili): <”Brother?”>

ARBITER (in Sangheili): <”I am tired of this fighting.”>

URI’DAN (in Sangheili): <”Then perhaps the Commando’s solution is indeed reasonable.”>

ARBITER (in Sangheili): <”No, brother.”>

Focus On: Behind the leading battlecruiser the air is electrified.

Close Up: On Arbiter’s face. He squints his eyes.

ARBITER (in Sangheili): <”What is it?”>

URI’DAN (in Sangheili): <”Slipspace portal detected!”>

Overlooking Shot: The rocky area in front of the observatory. Behind the battlecruiser at the sky, a slipspace portal opens. An assault carrier leaves the black void.

Focus On: The Arbiter’s face. His jaws drop slightly.

Under Shot: The assault carrier rams the Brute battlecruiser. The battlecruiser breaks in two.

Long Range Shot: More slipspace portals open and a whole force of ships arrives.

URI’DAN (in Sangheili): <”Sangheili signatures! They’re Elites!“

Medium Back Shot: The silhouettes of the Arbiter and Uri’Dan on the edge of the platform. Before them, the huge white assault carrier flies past the observatory. The entire building is shaking.

Moving Shot, To The Right: The small fleet follows the assault carrier. The remaining Brute battlecruiser opens fire on the Sangheili ships.

Close Up: The cannons of a Sangheili ship enter targeting mode.

Facial Shot: Uri’Dan looking afraid.

Medium Range Shot: The Sangheili ships answer with a whole volley of plasma fire.

Medium Range Shot: The Arbiter watches as the battlecruiser explodes in flashy flames and the Sangheili ships pass by the observatory. As the Arbiter hurries away:

ARBITER (in Sangheili): <”Prepare a group of Banshees! Track their descent and send them after them at once!”>

Fade To Black as the Arbiter walks right through the cam.

Fade From Black

Cinematic Perspective: The Player finds himself inside the chamber where the Elites conversed in the cutscene before. The Arbiter wields an energy sword. The camera spins around him and and finally enters gameplay perspective.

Gameplay Perspective

KATO’KIYOMASA (Elite Zealot, in Sangheili, over comlink): <”What in the name of the Gods is going on there?”>

ARBITER (in Sangheili): <”Sangheili reinforcement has arrived. We must assist them before the Brutes find their landing zone.”>

KATO’KIYOMASA (Elite Zealot, in Sangheili, over comlink): <”Sangheili reinforcement? I haven’t ordered reinforcement.“>

After a short pause.

KATO’KIYOMASA (Elite Zealot, in Sangheili, over comlink): <”Thel’Vadam, head towards their landing zone and assist them if necessary. We will continue onward to the Spire.”>

The Arbiter grunts in revolt but to no avail; there is no more response from Kato’Kiyomasa.

The Player now has the chance to explore the big observatory. The waypoint marker will direct the Player a few levels downward. The lower the Player gets, the more Brutes he will engage.

Wow! Thank you. I didn’t expect people to take it so well. More of the campaign will be released soon. I want the first Mission to end so we can finally get to the Master Chief and his inner troubles.

HALO 5 – Mission 1 – Desperate Measures – Part III

The Arbiter is on the fifth of seven levels. The observatory is damaged and the ways and ramps to the upper two floors are cut off. The observatory consists of a huge hall in its center leading up to the roof and several verandas around the inner chamber. The roof has a round opening in its center right above the huge chamber. The sky can be seen through the roof opening.

The Player can turn around and just see a wall. But if he closes in on the wall, one will see that the wall turns out to be two separate walls, one being in front of the other. They effectively hide a walkway leading to the platform from the cutscene before. In the background, the wreckage of the destroyed Brute ship can be seen. It burns in bluish-white flames. The damaged Elite Destroyer got hit by pieces of the Brute ship. Uri’Dan is still standing on the platform, walking from one side to the other, giving orders over his Covenant comlink.

URI’DAN (in Sangheili): <”Yes! Launch a batch of Banshees. These carriers need assistance.”>

ELITE (in Sangheili, over comlink): <”But brother, the Brutes have set anti-air cannons in that area. Our banshees won’t even come close to assist.”>

URI’DAN (in Sangheili): <”Anti-air weaponry?! Ndo’Tabalu! Come in! We need a ground attack against some anti-air guns in the Holy Path of Green Land.”>

A pause occurs. Uri’Dan looks up to see a Brute battlecruiser attack an Elite outpost in the far distance. The cruiser cleanses the outpost.

NDO’TABALU (in Sangheili, over comlink): <”Negative Minor! The Brutes have set up a stronghold in that area. It’s impossible to breach their barriers now.”>

Uri’Dan sighs.

URI’DAN (in Sangheili): <”Brother, prepare the banshees. We will try to attack them.”>

ELITE (in Sangheili): <”That’s suicide. Alas, we ready the banshees.”>

URI’DAN (in Sangheili, addressing the Arbiter): <”It’s not as easy to give you the support you needed than I expected.”>

ARBITER: <”I know.”>

The Player can still watch the scenery but nothing will happen. The Player returns to the interior of the observatory. He must walk down to the lower floor.
If the player walks down the ramp and immediately turns around, he will see another ‘hiding wall’. The wall is broken and the gangway behind it can be clearly seen. The daylight falls in through the gangway. The Player can walk through it and reach another platform. The platform looks different than the platform where the Player met Uri’Dan.
A single walkway lifts up in the center. The edges of the platform underneath are crowned with Banshee aircraft. There is a total amount of seven banshees on the platform. Some Elites are busy on the platform. When the Player enters the platform, two more Elites will rush out of the corridor behind him. The group consists of Elite Minors, Elite Majors and a single Elite Ultra. While the Elites group up and fall in line, the Ultra receives a comlink message from Uri’Dan.

ELITE ULTRA (in Sangheili): <”Yes, we are ready to take off.”>

URI’DAN (in Sangheili, over comlink): <”Make sure the ground squad will get its support. They’ll need it.”>

ELITE ULTRA (in Sangheili): <”We’ll send the mongrels back to the monkey tree they descended from!”>

The Elite Ultra turns towards the lined up pilots. He walks up and down while delivering a brief speech.

ELITE ULTRA (in Sangheili): <”Brothers! This war has taken the souls of our bloodline. The Jiralhanae stand as the greatest threat to our people. They want war, they can get it. A group of Sangheili carriers has breached the space battle and crash-landed somewhere to the east. Our ground forces are approaching the landing zone. But they cannot endure in this battle alone. The mongrel gorillas have set a stronghold at the edge of the Holy Path of Green Land. It is defended by anti-air artillery. Our job is to help our brothers by distracting the Brutes long enough so they can destroy the AA cannons. This is not an easy battle. But it is an even fight. For Sanghelios!”>

ELITE GROUP (in Sangheili): <”On the blood of our fathers, on the blood of our sons, we swear to grind the Brutes into dust!”>

ELITE ULTRA (in Sangheili): <”Even to our dying breath! Go brothers, and march to our glorious salvation!”>

The Elites shout out a war cry and then hurry to the Banshees to board them. The Elite Ultra briefly addresses the Arbiter.

ELITE ULTRA (in Sangheili): <”Brother, will you come with us? It is an honor. Take that Banshee and follow our group.”>

The Elite Ultra points towards a lone Banshee at the tip of the platform. The Player has the choice of taking the Banshee or of just returning inside.
Once the Player has taken the Banshee, the entire group will take off. They will swirl and spin around the Arbiter’s Banshee. They will head to the east of the building.

ELITE ULTRA (in Sangheili, over comlink): <”These Elites on the platforms need assistance. Burn the enemy down!”>

The Player must fly around the observatory and shoot at different enemies on several platforms. But one must be careful not to kill allies. If a great number of the Player’s allies is killed, the Banshees will start firing at the Arbiter. The first platform is crawled with Brutes attacking the Elite units. On the second platform, Jackals with Carbines push the Elites to the edge. They are easily taken out with a few fuel rod charges. The third target is marked inside the observatory. The Player has to find an opening inside to fight off a Brute pack reinforced by more Jackals. Once they are dealt with, a group of Sangheili warriors makes their way down a ramp. They surprise a pack of approaching Brutes. The Elites draw their swords and within a couple of seconds the violent Jiralhanae are cut down. The Player finds a way out again if he follows the group of Elites to the lower level. There is an opening leading out onto a platform. The Player can fly his Banshee out of the building. Yet, a group of Yanme’e swarms the platform from below and the Player’s Banshee will be under a lot of fire. The Drones can either be taken out by the aircraft’s plasma repeaters or simply be left behind. The next waypoint is located at the wide entrance of the observatory. Once the Player flies downwards though, there will be a loud crumbling. The waypoint disappears as a wave of dust bursts out the entrance. A huge part of the observatory’s ceiling fell off.

HALO 5 – Mission 1 – Desperate Measures – Part IV

ELITE ULTRA (in Sangheili, over comlink): <”There is nothing we can do here anymore—“>

ELITE (in Sangheili, continuous, over comlink): <”Brothers! Two more Brute ships dropped from the space battle. They’re heading to the Spire of Illumination!”>

ELITE ULTRA (in Sangheili, over comlink): <”We must halt them! Assemble as many aircraft as you can and send them after us. Half of us goes there now.”>

Once the Player turns his Banshee towards the next waypoint one can see a huge weather front forming up in the distant sky. Dark clouds form huge sky pillars turning in colossal circles.

CHZRAN’RASUM (in Sangheili, over comlink): <”There is a storm forming up in your area, brother. Is everything going as planned?”>

ARBITER (in Sangheili, over comlink): <”Heading towards the Brute camp.”>

CHZRAN’RASUM (in Sangheili, over comlink): <”You should hurry to clear the area.”>

The Arbiter flies his Banshee towards the artillery emplacement. Several Spirits will engage him on his way. The fuel rod is a powerful asset in the fight against these dropships. Once the turrets of the Spirits are destroyed they no longer pose a threat to the Player. The way is long and the Player has the chance to support ground forces. Brutes, Hunters, Drones, Kig-Yar are on the way. Some of them will be dropped by Spirits. If the Spirits are taken out the Elite ground forces can proceed to the Brute camp. The more Elites and Grunts the Player saves, the more forces will arrive at the camp and the easier the coming fight shall be.
When the Brute camp is in sight several Covenant Artillery Guns can be seen. These guns have not been in use since the attack on New Mombasa in 2552.

ELITE (in Sangheili, over com): <”There it is: the Brute camp is in sight!”>

ELITE ULTRA (in Sangheili, over com): <”Brothers, initiate the distraction maneuver! Die with honor and take as many of these apes with you as you can!”>

The Player can get close enough to fire upon the guns. But he has to dodge the deadly plasma mortar charges. Suddenly, the Player’s Banshee will be shot down by a seventh big turret: it is a Type-27 Anti-Aircraft Cannon also known as Mantis AA Battery.
The Player will lose control over his Banshee and the aircraft will crash into the sandy ground. However, the Arbiter survives the dangerous crash. The Player’s health is down to a minimum and he is deaf for some moments.
The Player has to take up his rifle again. He lost it when the Banshee crashed and tossed him out of the aircraft. The way leads through some narrow rock formations. Coming from behind, Elites will rush past the Arbiter. The Player arrives at the foot of the camp. Elites are holding out there.
The Elite in command is a Special Operations Sangheili.

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”Ah! Brother! You made it. We saw your Banshee crash.”>

ARBITER (in Sangheili): <”If I had died it would have been an honorable death.”>

STEALTH ELITE (in Sangheili): <”What will we do now?”>

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”We’re trying to get inside the camp and take out the AA guns.”>

STEALTH ELITE (in Sangheili): <”They’ve set up four Plasma Turrets at the entrance. Two Jackals with Focus Rifles are in that tower.”>

ARBITER (in Sangheili): <”That’s too much of a defense. We cannot charge at it directly.”>

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”That’s right. I have a plan: We split our forces. One of the groups will assault the Brutes’ entrance. The second group has to sneak in from the side and take out the turrets while the Brutes are being distracted.”>

ELITE ULTRA (in Sangheili): <”That’s suicide …”>

STEALTH ELITE (in Sangheili, continuously): <”… but the best plan we have for now.”>

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”Every Elite that dies in the minutes ahead will die with honor. Know this, brothers: Your sacrifice will allow us to destroy the Jiralhanaes’ anchor on our sacred world and get rid of them once and for all!”>

ELITE GROUP (in Sangheili): <”By the Blood of our Fathers!”>

SPECOPS ELITE (in Sangheili): <”Stealth Elites, come with me! Elite Ultra, you command the assault on the entrance! See you on the Journey!”>

The Player follows the assault team up a slope. The Sangheili surprise some pretty unprepared Jackal Minors. Brute Defenders and Brute Ultras respond with heavy turret fire. There are several rocks on the slope that differ in size. They can be taken as cover. The Jackal Snipers will attack the Sangheili with their Focus Rifles.
When the Player takes cover behind one of the rocks he can see the stealth group sneak in from the side of the camp. Once the enemies at the entrance are dealt with, the Player automatically looks aside.

First Person Perspective: The Arbiter views the SpecOps leader retreat. A moment later, a Brute Captain Ultra rushes out of the camp and stabs an Energy Sword into the SpecOps leader’s back. The Brute Captain pulls the sword out and kicks the leader away.

First person gameplay perspective: The Player regains control over the Arbiter.
The assaulting Elite team rushes into the camp but they are abruptly stopped by the sudden appearance of an Anti-Air Wraith. The AA-Wraith blasts two of the Elites with its fuel rod charges. Another one falls to the mounted plasma turret.
The Elites are forced to retreat. If the Player decides to stay and fight, he will be shot down by overwhelming plasma charges from all directions. The group returns down the slope. A few more of the Elites fall and die. The Brutes continuously fire with their turrets and AA-Wraith which makes another assault practically impossible.

STEALTH ELITE (in Sangheili, out of puff): <”The attack on the camp is futile. We cannot break through like this. We’re losing too many Elites.”>

ELITE ULTRA (in Sangheili): <”Issue the rest of the Elites and order them to break through!”>

ARBITER (in Sangheili): <”No, they are simply too vulnerable when they are moving up that slope. We must find another way.”>

STEALTH ELITE (in Sangheili): <”How? The best plan failed when the leader fell to that Brute Captain.”>

ELITE ULTRA (in Sangheili): <”Well, unless you can’t suggest another solution—“>

An Elite Major rushes to the group, shouting out for the Elite Ultra.

ELITE MAJOR (in Sangheili): <”Sir! Sir! The diggers have broken through!”>

ELITE ULTRA (in Sangheili): <”What?!”>

There are a lot of things I wanted to tell and well … being on Sanghelios is nice, isn’t it? In this second mission, I wanted to introduce most deadly situations. The Player should become more patient. I don’t want HALO 5 to be a game of firing - advancing - firing - advancing. I’ll introduce new systems in later levels. Oh, and there’s a new Armor Ability. I just came to think of it yesterday and happily decided to include it in the game.
