I’m going to state here what I stated in a thread on an outside forum, this is my post, copied and pasted over to here.
If you ban guns, you will not only disarm those who would seek to use the firearm to protect their family, their livestock, their store, or indeed anything that may need guarding, but you directly put the guns in to the hands of criminals. What do criminals do? What makes a criminal? Well the answer to that is simple, a criminal is someone who breaks laws.
Putting a law in to effect banning guns isn’t just taking guns away from criminals magically, it’s actually giving them more use for guns. You can’t just wave a magic wand and say “Poof, all of the guns are now gone!” You create a “weapons black market” where guns are more readily available to criminals than the average law abiding citizen, simply because you have to be a criminal to own one!
The same goes for Assault weapons bans. A criminal could easily obtain a(n) [assault] weapon through illegal means, however the average citizen could not, if they wanted to stay within the boundaries of the law. So in this case, you’re actually creating a situation where the dangerous criminals are more well armed than those who abide by the law.
Let me ask you this, what about allowing constant carrying? We already have concealed-carry states, and although I’m not entirely sure about the situation within Connecticut, I can tell you that the outcome of that shooting would have drastically been changed if one, or even all of the teachers had the right to carry a concealed weapon.
Edit: Let me also add, that treating the gun like the criminal in these situations is not only unfair, it’s also stupid. The more people familiarize themselves with guns, the more they start to understand how they greatly benefit us, and eventually they begin to not see guns as the devil.

Really politics should stay off this forum. What happened is a tragedy which was caused by a very sick person who is a monster. Using this as a platform for gun control is a disgrace to all the victims please lock this thread
Im not going to stop playing FPS just because there was some shooting that didn’t/doesn’t affect me in anyway
what i think should be done is banning guns with clips that hold alot of rounds so this type of stuf wont happen or better locks on schools.
While its a horrible event that should never have happened, Im not going to boycott a computer game over it.

It’s nice to see some people realize that it’s not the guns that cause these incidents but the person behind it… and banning large clips won’t do anything. He could have done the same amount of damage with a bolt action.
How about lobbying for better access to mental health care instead. Addressing gun laws instead of the root cause of this type of gun violence is like taking aspirin for a headache when you keep punching yourself in the head.

Exactly, UNLESS the laws were more loosely balanced, and allowed for the teachers to carry weapons in plain view, then this would never have happened.

Except then a teacher could commit a crime very easily. I see what you’re saying, but no one REALLY has a need for an assault rifle outside of the military.
But this isn’t a place for politics. What happened in Newtown was a horrible tragedy, but we don’t need to boycott our favorite games for it.
I respect your intent OP, I really do, but be honest with me here. How does not playing video games support the cause for gun control in anyway? It’s not like you will be supporting politicians lobbying for gun control, or donating actual funds to their cause. I just don’t understand how this would support the cause for gun control in any measurable way. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
