Many of you will say “Well, duh, ThreeSix, it should be like the CE Pistol!”
The problem is that it isn’t the CE Pistol, its just a 3sk Reach Pistol with adjustable bloom and bleedthrough.
Now, I MAY get some flak on this, but I believe there should be a slight bloom that disencourages continuous firing at the max firing rate. Reason being, even the original CE Pistol had a bloom effect when it was fired at fully automatic (not necesarily bloom), and the Reach sandbox needs all the help it can get as far as balance goes, assuming the necessary gametypes adjustments (damage resistance, weapon strength) have been applied.
Therefore, since bloom is adjustable, this new version of the Pistol shguld be tested under various “strengths” of bloom in order to determine which is best to keep it from being constantly fired at the max firing rate, while still maintaining a certain consistency that makes it close to the original Pistol experience that we had in CE.
NOTE: the bloom is NOT to interfere much with the kill time of the 3sk, but rather to disencourage firing at the max firing rate. The implementation of the bloom is only to help balance out the sandbox, and is not to be as extreme as the Magnum’s bloom is currently.
The reach pistol reticle is fairly larger though isn’t it? At least compared to the DMR.
So the shots should still hit anywhere within it.
But it does seem silly to be firing at max firerate.

Well, since we can’t alter firing rate, we might as well attempt to rectify it with what we have, and the TU is supposedly adding a bloom modifier.
The bloom modifier changes every headshot weapon, so it would ruin the DMR.

Who said anything about the DMR being included? Its supposed to mimic CE.

No, pistol has a small hitbox and less magnetism than the DMR.

Well, none of us actually know what is going to be on the maps at all; 343i has been showcasing the 4SK DMR and 3SK Magnum together, anyway.
I think it should not be included on spawn, but put one wherever you see plasma grenades spawn. Say 2 or 3 pistols on the map. That would limit their use and ammo as well as add something else that would be have to be watched and controlled. I think this would be the best way to implement it.

We all know how non-BR starts worked in previous Halo titles. That is a horrible idea.

Aren’t hitboxes universal, and on players not on weapons?

You would still spawn with a DMR as usual. I didn’t say anything about AR starts.

I’m still a bit uneasy on the idea, considering the Magnum fires significantly faster than the DMR, and takes less shots to kill. We would be better off just having the 3SK Magnum as a starting weapon.
