CE Spread is Atrocious

For the people out there who play CE competitively, the spread really needs to be fixed. I feel like MCC limits CE to it’s full potential. Before MCC, I used to play CE everyday on PC. I can tell the HUGE difference between OG and MCC. To this day, I compete in tournaments for every Halo. When I compete in a CE one, I’ll 8/10 times only play the custom edition held ones. Honestly, it’s enraging. Why has this problem not been solved? It’s not even a known problem on the support website. Should I submit a ticket? If so, should we expect this issue to be solved after such a long time?

Good luck man. CE still has the biggest issues, and is the furthest cry from what it used to be on OG Xbox, especially nuanced gameplay wise. I LOVE that I can play a match of CE anytime I want now online, that’s amazing. I just know I can’t take it too seriously.

My biggest problem with the spread is that when I use the magnum, my bullets start deviating horribly. Yet I see players magn shots going in a straight line perfectly.

I know not to hold down the trigger, but even when I pace my shots it seems they still spread.

The fact that they didn’t disable spread in social yet it’s disable in ranked AND there’s and option to disable it in custom game settings is really dumb. Like most people play Halo CE in social and disabling spread isn’t impossible for them since they did it in ranked so WHY don’t they just disable it in social? This is just dumb I mean like say there was a glitch (God forbidden) that makes the Halo 2 classic BR have spread and 343 makes it no spread (like it’s supposed to) but ONLY in ranked and custom games but NOT in social, that’s basically the same situation that the CE magnum has.

It’s a glitch that happened when they ported it to MCC. They have not fixed it. Even in ranked when it says “no spread” there’s spread. Plenty of it.

Thank you! I thought I was insane for thinking there was still spread in ranked.

I haven’t noticed any spread with the magnum in hardcore. There is really bad hit detection depending on the server though, and the game lies to you about where your shots are landing on a player. Their shields will flash sometimes even though the bullet didn’t hit them, and vice versa. If you hold down the trigger instead of firing semi auto the magnum becomes far less accurate.

Yeah it makes it look like they copped OS even though it’s detection. There is def spread in hardcore. I’ve tested it myself.

lol Welcome to Halo CE! 20 years of knowing this.

That happens a lot to me, and it’s a bit frustrating.

I’ve played CE for 10 years, MCC made it worse if what u mean is that CE is the same as the OG lol

Isn’t the game suppose to be the same as the OG version? Maybe it’s more difficult playing on xbl now since we could only play back then on LAN?

Oh u didn’t know? CE on MCC got messed up when it was ported over. It’s by far not like the OG. When it was ported, sum got messed up where pacing your shots now has spread. While the OG CE had no spread when pacing your shots. So idk why it was never fixed. Even in hardcore where “spread was fixed” it is not fixed. If you hold your gun down on the pistol it’s gonna have spread no matter what. That was in the OG too. The pacing your shots thing wasn’t.

Wait, this is still an issue?! As much as I hate to say it, I’ve honestly pretty much left MCC for good due to the insanely egregious issues on the matchmaking/online in general-front, but I thought that they’d at least finally ironed this particular issue out by now. I’m trying to remember the timeline because I know there was the whole tick-rate issue where it was tied to spread, then I heard that got fixed, but I remember a few months later hearing on a thread how there was some other CE pistol issue still at large. I also heard there was some intentional alteration 343 made to increase spread in social but then decrease it to “normal” in competitive; I thought that was finally the end of the “saga” only to hear not long after that the “normal” spread in competitive was ALSO messed up compared to the actual OG version.

I always want to keep a positive outlook when it comes to the MCC, but it’s been harder and harder to not become frustrated with the continued lack of any real communication from 343. There continue to be glaring issues when looking at MCC versus legacy and it’s been in 343’s court for almost two years since the PC release or almost seven years if we go off the initial release, which while it was an absolute cash-grab mess, was also a starting point to work from, however flawed it initially was. There just isn’t any excuse for the fact that this product is still in the state it is after all this time and while it’s definitely nice to see the passion from some of the peeps up at 343, somewhere along the line, whether it be -Yoink!-, 343, or even both, something is going massively wrong with the management of this project. Especially with the even further reduced communication after the release of the last remaining title to the collection, we’re stuck with a paragraph or-so a week that can run the gamut from a little information, to an “update” explaining that there is no update that week. If anything, 343 should have an even easier time providing an even greater level of communication/transparency when it comes to this phase of development compared to when they were dealing with adding entire titles. A clear list of the issues being actively worked on with weekly status updates explaining how each fix is coming along and what the expected timelines for completion are would be a massive and much needed improvement over the broad and detail-lacking lists that have been put up in the past.

The other issue that really needs to be addressed is how 343 communicates on the bug-fixes, feature improvements/additions, etc. that aren’t currently in the “active development” sections or their lists. The fact that so many issues haven’t yet made it to the point where they’re actively being addressed after this long a span is a problem all on its own, but it’s made even worse by the fact that every one of the problems that fall into this non-active category are effectively left out in the ether with zero information on any kind of timeline provided. At the current pace 343 is making and especially with the last confirmed season fast approaching, it’s getting really hard to see the MCC being left in a reasonable state once active development ends, and with the current communication strategy, it’s almost impossible not to ask oneself: After what amount of time spent in the “non-active” section of 343’s list with no communication, timelines, estimates, etc. provided, does one have to assume a listed feature or fix simply isn’t coming. It really sucks to think about like that, but when there are still so many non-active topics and issues, including many that have silently resided there since launch, it’s difficult not to see the lack of updates on them as a sort of confirmation that they’re likely to be quietly left on the cutting-room floor when everyone calls it a day.

Ugh. Rant aside though, I can’t bring myself to completely give up hope that 343’ll come through because I so badly want MCC to finally realize its potential! I’d honestly be happy even if they just removed their restriction on community-hosted dedicated servers when they declare active development over, because at least that way the community would actually have the “keys” 343 has so often mentioned wanting to “hand over” to them, so that we could proactively work to remedy the remaining experience-degrading issues for ourselves; this being all the more possible when considering mod/custom-content could finally become more than a fun little gimmick that 99% of the community will never be able to experience once community groups/members are actually given the tools they need to create and manage 24/7 servers dedicated to that content. Halo CE/Custom Edition on PC provides a massively superior online-suite and it’s still going strong with new content being created by and for an excited and dedicated community; there’s no reason MCC shouldn’t be given the same time-tested and proven tools to allow it to become a similar success story, instead of what it is now.

Sorry for the wall-o’-text! I think my posts are getting longer the closer we get to the end of the line on MCC because it still feels like there’s just so much that needs to be brought to 343’s attention and the timeframe for them to act just keeps getting smaller and smaller! Still keeping my fingers crossed!

Hope everyone’s doing well; see ya’ll around!

Nah b, it’s still an issue. I thought they fixed it but nah. There’s also hit detection bugs where you’re shootin at a player, the shields flare up but nun happens. It makes it look like they copped OS or sum. Very annoying. I struggle with MCC everyday. It’s hard to criticize what everyone else criticizes.

I’ve been railing about this for years now, and it’s STILL an issue. With all the hours I put into the original CE, my mind and muscles are tuned to how the game was originally designed to be played. Playing the MCC version just feels…OFF. The pistol spread ESPECIALLY bogs down the experience on top of hit registration and the way the weapons work. 343 did good by fixing the legacy graphics, but they REALLY need to fix the gameplay bugs. CE is my favorite game in the franchise and it’s very disheartening to see this game in the state that it is in.

They turned off spread in Hardcore doubles, why not Social MM?

Yeah I also played CE on PC way before it was on MCC. Sad to see it in this state that it was never meant to be.

I’ve also played CE before MCC. Though not back in 2001. Wasn’t born then lol.
