What would you think if 343 used Infinite’s gameplay to remake CE to fix the few problems it has, improve the things it does well, and make it a bit more lore accurate? If done right, I’d love it. Not saying CE NEEDS a remake, but I’m saying it could. Maybe they could also remake all of the maps, including Infinity. That be pretty cool!
I think it would be pretty pointless, to be honest. We already had Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary in 2011 and again in 2014 for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. After all of the PC releases, 343i should focus on the future and not keep bringing up the past with remake after remake.

I dunno, its just, when I go from CE to 3 to 5 to 4, it all feels disconnected. I feel like a unification would be pretty nice. On top of that, I just like seeing new takes on old stuff.

If you are playing the games in that order then of course things are going to feel disconnected. If you watch Star Wars: Episode IV but then skip V and go straight to VI, it’s not going to feel right. You miss out on a lot.
Not to mention that Halo spans across a vast array of media and most of the stuff that happens between games is already covered.

I don’t mean in THAT order, I just used that for an example. Obviously, if I wanted to make things as connected as possible, I’d play them in the order they came out.
I see where you’re coming from. The Resident Evil remakes are spectacular from what I have heard.
However, I don’t think a similar situation applies to CE. Don’t get me wrong, it would be very cool to have the game remade in a newer engine and make it feel more modern.
But, the thing with CE is that it doesn’t feel as dated as many games from its time. It’s really a testament to the foresight Bungie had when making it a solid game. Most features are still the standard to this day, such as checkpoints, resuming levels, smooth gameplay, etc. So many games frustratingly don’t have simple features like level replay even today! Hell, the AI requires more skill to fight in CE than in H4 and H5!
There are things like OP vehicle taps which result in splatters I would love to see improved. Vehicle handling could do with a tune up as well.
But, the point is that none of these things feel bad to the point of making the game unplayable or feel like a relic. Everything works well as is and it’s all very enjoyable. Still one of the best games ever, if I might add. So, while a remake would be very cool, I don’t think it is necessary. Plus, a remake would take away a considerable amount of resources that could otherwise be put toward new games with new stories and new worlds to explore. Keeping Chief’s story going is more important.

What do you mean by lore accurate? Surely the game defines the lore and anything else supplements it.

Perhaps, but there are just a few things in the game that I reeeeeaaaallllllyyyyy shouldn’t care about but just annoy me. For example, where was the DMR? Chances are, if the Pillar Of Autumn had just left Reach, they would have a few, seeing as it was common on Reach. And for that matter, the Assault Rife. It couldn’t have received a upgrade THAT quickly. The old model didn’t seem on its way out. And to sort of steal one of the things you mentioned, the vehicles. Why has the Warthog got Infinite health and ammunition? (Admittedly, that last part is just something that annoys me about the series overall.) Just little things that irk me.
And about resources, while it would take time, I envision it as a game that uses Infinite’s gameplay, and assets from other games. Ya know, like they did with Anniversary. And, yes it would take time to make the campaign and multiplayer maps, it wouldn’t take nearly as much time as a new game, seeing as they would have the gameplay and a good chunk of the other visuals down. I know that CE doesn’t NEED a remake. But I would pay £60 for it.

As in, maybe use some events form Fireteam Raven and The Flood, in addition to make it flow better with both versions of The Fall Of Reach.
Unless 343 has any plans to add additional content and repackage the game as a new game, it’s not going to happen.
It would be like Sony launching the Playstation 2 then launching Playstation 3 and having to launch Playstation 2.1 into a few months just for USB support.
We could go on for many replies about what ideas we are pondering, but it sadly won’t happen.
You mean CE on a new engine? They said they were doing that with anniversary, which sounded great… Except they didn’t do it. CE extends way beyond a magnum that kills in 3 shots. It’s engine makes the gameplay stand out the most from all the other games. I think it’s pointless after they rereleased it this year, no one cared and everyone who wants to play CE again is looking after emulation because of how awfully broken each rerelease has been
