Ever since Halo 2 the needler’s melee animation has been quite weak, it doesn’t feel like i’m thrusting a torso sized gun into someone or something. In CE the player moved the gun to the side and pushed the needle-end into their target. This felt powerful and it was as if I was causing damage. I ask that this melee animation returns, as the default one. With the current one as a secondary thing.

Totally agree with you. The weak looking slap or “bonk on the head” type animation just doesn’t jive well for me.
As an addition, and I’d like to preface this with the fact that I prefer traditional assassination without any sort of special animations, it would be a cool assassination animation for you to stab a player with the needles, the needles break off, then super-combine to blow up the enemy player when you assassinate them.
