Not sure if anyone noticed, but the barrel of the CE magnum is seen in the trailer to season 3 of The Sprint. There’s also a little clip after of a dev demonstrating what I am guessing is the pistol whip animation…

Actually they said the magnum was a possibility and they where thinking about it… Unless they’ve said something since then.

I think that the Halo CE pistol made too big of a plot hole in the original game. Why go through all that crap destroying the Pillar of Autumn when you can destroy Halo by firing the OP pistol at the ground?
