CE LEGENDARY NO DEATHS COMPLETION

I did it… There was no achievement but I love Halo so much, I had the nerve to do this…

I just completed Halo Combat Evolved on Legendary with 0 deaths!

Awesomely, I recorded every moment of it and will make a series of Youtube videos next month when I finish with my uni exams and after moving house…

Has anyone else decided to try this out? It sure was fun.

EDIT: (I live in Australia and have REALLY BAD internet so by me saying “after moving house” I say that because I will have internet known as NBN, something all Australians wish to get because the internet situation is a mess in this country). I have ten videos around the same length and uploading them all separately would probably take 2-3 days each. On top of that I got no bandwidth so I wont be able to use my internet for almost a month if I dare try uploading all that. When I get NBN I will have super up/down speeds and unlimited bandwidth. So to those interested in seeing this butt-clench of a montage stay tuned. I’m just as excited to show the world what I pulled off…

Winter is coming? No. Watch out covenant, the CHRISPOCALYP5E is coming…

Holy crap, man! Very nice! I can’t even count the many times I died during my solo legendary run which I did waaay before MCC even came out. Can’t wait too see the vids!

I haven’t played Halo 1 in a while and I already died 50+ times even on Heroic, lol.

Was it a segmented run or full game? Did you use speed run tactics/skips like the bridge drop on AoTCR and the keyes bump?

Either way thats pretty good, some of those levels are a pain right up until the end. I couldn’t imagine the frustration of dying and having to restart. I’ll definitely have to check the video out, I loved watching Halo as much as playing it lol.

For recording purposes I recorded each mission separately and cut out the cutscenes (with the exception of the controlled cutscenes). No, I didn’t use any mission skips or de-spawns. In some parts you may notice (rarely, maybe once or twice a mission) I’d leave any enemy behind or proceed to the next area because I personally thought it be boring if people just watched me spend ten minutes chasing a lone enemy somewhere. I wanted to keep videos less than an hour long, so if you notice me making dumb choices or notice me rushing its because I thought I was dragging on some segments. In the end, the entire play through had a load of close calls but I still made it to the end with my shields and at least a red square or more of health.

Actually to separate myself from the speed run gods and not upload the same stuff those dudes do I just decided to avoid the whole ‘speed run’ play through and mix it up a little and fight for the most part. Sometimes I felt a little ‘ballsy’ and had adrenaline to the point (like you’ll see on The Truth and Reconciliation) where at a gravity lift I would charge elites head on and surround groups of grunts with my marines bravely following and go all balls out CQC. The flood in later levels (especially Two Betrayals) were a different story… Unless I had a shotgun handy or there were a dozen rocket launcher floods charging me…

Personally, I don’t care what anyone says, Two Betrayals had to be one of the hardest damn missions in the game. There are too many variables, too many encounters, vehicles, multi-factions, CQC rocket floods and a lot of ‘instant-death’ causing scenarios to avoid. Anyone who says The Library is difficult, play through Two Betrayals on legendary a few times over and over and let me know how nerve racking it is having to dodge wraith mortars, banshee bombs, suicidal rocket floods in hallways etc.

Are you talking about consecutive game play or are you saying you managed to get through each level with 0 deaths? Like you restarted a few times

I couldn’t imagine playing some of the levels on CE without doing the skips or dying lol. Your a glutton for punishment. I can’t remember the last time I actually played through Two Betrayals without the door despawn either. Its just second nature at this point to always do it, as well as some of the other speed run tactics. For that reason I’ve always felt Library was the worst level, then it was a toss up between Two Betrayals and Truth & Rec for me. I’ll definitely check the videos out, I’m interested to see how you handle some of the area’s you’d normal skip in a speed run. Especially AoTCR since thats my least favorite level on Legendary(if I don’t do the bridge drop).

Nice I have tried with no deaths but I get at least 10 of them on the level Halo or mission 2 because all the elites charge you.

A good, kinda dumb strategy I found that helped me the most was rushing some enemies to clear out the ‘heavy’ opposition.

Plus, moving around frequently helps a bunch for those who choose to hide or camp.

And unlike future Halo games, the plasma pistol is something worth using, not only is it a must for taking on elites and jackals but in my videos you will notice I was using that baby as a rifle and in Two Betrayals I used it to destroy a wraith, yes, I destroyed a tank with the plasma pistol instead of using the rocket launcher.

I’m beating the campaign on normal without dying the whole game no deaths, had to restart the game about 40 times now because of rocket flood, just beat it the other day though and moving on to halo 2 soon

Nice work Spartan

Many congrats, this is quite a feat! Even though CE still plays great, the clunky physics and mechanics show their age unlike any of the other games, all of which caused many instances of rage lol. So, lots of props to you for getting through it. Regardless of the clunkiness, it’s still one of the hardest games in the series.

I kinda expected Two Betrayals to be at least one of the hardest missions to complete without dying but I only give credit for the second pulse generator as usual, nothing else, the mission itself isn’t hard.

If you want another challenge, try to complete Assault on the Control Room without using a single vehicle or turret (not even using X to flip one) , on legendary and with the two starting weapons (assault rifle and pistol, full freedom on grenades) , without dying and having all enemies eliminated.

Cool! I’m tempted to try this myself…

Hello !
I’m trying to find the run on Youtube, I’m curious to look at it because I’m right now uploading one as well (bored because of the time it takes to upload (5 hours of video I know I know lol))… But I can’t find it !
What do I have to type to find it ???

Please don’t revive old topics thanks
