While 343i cant make everyone happy, we need to find at least a common ground in Halo 5. There are two kinds of people arguing in these forums, those who are conservative (i myself) and those that are progressive.
Conservative players dont enjoy a lot of the new changes brought in by the new games and expect halo to go back to its roots in order to increase playability, fun, and competitiveness
Progressive players enjoy a lot of the new changes brought in by the new games and realize halo needs to change in order to keep up with new titles. They believe this will increase playability, fun, and competitiveness.
The point is, both groups need to find some common grounds as what to keep, trash, and add to keep the halo franchise fun and fresh.
My own opinion: While i wish to relive the glory days of halo 3 i can honestly say that if 343i just kept pumping out the same game over and over each time, halo would end up like cod. However i do feel that halo 4 went a little overboard with the changes. Ive grown accustomed to loadouts and AA’s but now we have CUSTOMIZABLE loadouts, Perks, and above all killstreaks (ordinance drops). these 3 things i believe shouldnt be in halo and they make me hate this game more than i should.
In my honest opinion, 343i should only keep reach styled loadouts and AA’s. Nothing else should be added (at least for the moment)
Anyways, I actually never minded Reach. In many ways it reminded me of Halo CE. I’m not really against loadouts as a concept either, but the execution is pretty poor.
One thing Reach had that Halo 4 doesn’t however is playlists where you were forced into a single loadout and abilities were on the map, along with a classic anniversary playlist.
I’d settle for just Team Slayer Pro.
The unfortunate thing though is no matter how many competitive/classic playlists you make, it won’t feel the same as the original games themselves. That with the fact the only real fun I’ve had in this game is playing the Forge Playlists where the maps and weapon layouts actually feel like past games.
I’m not sure those definitions are accurate. I bet a lot of the “conservatives” are perfectly fine with Halo changing, so long as that change benefits the core gameplay.
It’s a shame 343 decided to not emphasize the custom community, I’d say that was an integral part of what made the past Halo’s so enjoyable. Being able to change a game to how you like has a habit of pleasing all parties.
> Halo CE can still be played as it was intended to be played, as can Halo 3, Reach and now Halo 4.

> If the Halo fan cant find a version of Halo that they like, its because they are not looking hard enough.
Halo CE requires system link and a group of people who constantly want to play.
Halo PC has a population in the hundreds, most of them from South America so it lags like hell.
Halo 3 has a dying population with only a few playlists actually containing a decent population. I’ve literally seen playlists with just 40 people.
Even then, you are bound to just get the same maps and gametypes over and over.
Halo Reach is still going pretty strong, but it is inferior to Halo 3 in my opinion.
The Halo version I like is about to just be going out and buying Nexuiz…though the Forge playlist is alright.

I think it was a whole different reason MLG dropped Halo. -Yoink!- wanted money and -Yoink!- wanted Halo 4.
