Cat ears have shown that og halo fans have lost the fight

Hardly a bait and switch, they were completely transparent about MP going FTP, and that there would be mtx. The pass being VERY skimpy on content was definitely a rug pull, but the mechanic itself wasn’t a surprise to anyone that kept up with all the announcements that preceeded release. It’s also not accurate to say all customization features are paywalled. The vast majority, but not all.

How did the franchise ever survive? With that logic, Halo would never have made it past its first installment, or its second. I find it funny that the same people going at 343i for turning Halo into something its not also keep insisting that Halo’s draw has EVER been intangible cosmetic rewards. The bulk of Halo players are here to play Halo, and for them cosmetics are the icing, not the cake. Infinite will lose far more people over its server issues and forcing crossplay than it will over cosmetic mtx.

I hate to say it but this is literally a “eugh, kids today…” moment.

No principles, entitled, desperate to be edgy, no self control, no attention span, no class, attention hungry.

343 fully catered to them. It’s pathetic and I HATE it.

It didn’t.
You could unlock the Pestilence Cloud going 100% offline in Reach.

Also as I said earlier, the XBL fee is for the service.
Just like your ISP and electricity prices.

It has 3 BTB maps.

That’s so childish, and funny that you spend money just to upset people, don’t you have anything better to do than literally go out of your way to piss people off? That’s next level toxicity.

As an OG Halo fan of twenty years… I hope we get bunny ears in the spring. And a cottontail.

Btw, Merry Xmas y’all.

EDIT: Just speculating, but sometimes when people claim they are an OG fan I get this feeling that what they really mean is they started with 3 and ended with Reach. Straw man, I know. But I can’t shake it.

Industry has changed since 20 years ago. Simple as that. They’ve realized they can make absurd amounts of money via games now, it’s more profitable than movies now. Inflation and the cost to make games have been increasing the entire time yet gamers throw a hissy fit if a game is more than free, and you wonder why the days of paying $60 for a full package are gone now? Not to mention people aren’t content with just having fun with what’s available, they expect to be able to pay nothing and in return get weekly content for years on end. Not trying to “justify” their insane store, just telling it how I see it.

My first Halo was Halo: CE which I got in 2005 and I like the cat ears, guess that means I’m not OG.
Maybe you should stop complaining about insignificant things?

Considering 343 is on camera saying things like “a lot of the stuff is unlocked through playing the game and only through playing the game,” and “there will be millions of cusomization combinations [on day 1],” is a blatant bait and switch considering the current climate surrounding the nature of Infinite’s mtx. They also said that anything that was unlocked through the battle pass couldnt be bought in the store. So no one could pay for tbe battle pass items right? Yet they conveniently forgot to mention that you could buy levels in the battle pass. Not a bait and switch, but it is blatant lying. And if they lie about something so insignificant as that, I’m sure they’ll lie about plenty of other things as well. Not a good look at all.

I dont know where you got “that logic” from, but i never said anything remotely close to that. That’s all you, my friend. I just said they added all these customization options for free before, they grew on the fanbase and became a staple in the franchise, and now that feature is locked behind a paywall and its nefarious.

Then the point of what i said went over your head. I know it isnt the cake, i never said it was. I said it was extra incentive, and it made the cake that much more enjoyable and pretty. Is it still 1999? Should we really be justfying the bare minimum when we know these companies have both the money and the technology to do more for the fans they claim to care about?

I don’t mind the cat ears. I just can’t fathom why folks would drop $10 for the ears, charm and a not very good coating.

If people keep blowing their cash at these prices for stuff in the store as-is, despite 343 saying they’ll be looking at the shop, I feel prices may not change much.

I’d much rather have a catalogue so I can pick and choose what the hell I want. Not be forced to pay $10 just cause I want some armor piece and don’t care about anything else that doesn’t even look worth it.

who knows, I would say people who call themselves an og fan when this shake them are really just being children

As an OG fan I’m willing to take the good with the bad at this point, Infinite IMO falls short of those games in bigger ways than it’s customization. I personally might not have made the choice to have furry accessories in Halo, but now that they’re here, I’m sorry but the furry agenda comes first.

The value for your dollar feels abysmal in this game, though, if I didn’t just so happen to have a chunk of Microsoft rewards points saved up I wouldn’t have even looked at the store tab until if/when some changes came. I’ve only paid $5 toward the battlepass thanks to a Microsoft gift, and I almost regret even that.

I would say that it’s up to the individual to decide where he/she wishes to spend his/her hard earned cash. It’s a decision that I and any other player has no mandate to influence for another player.

When it comes to the Halo Infinite monetization system, the players will decide which items he/she wishes to purchase based on a case by case basis dependent on the value of the offer and if the value is either in par of exceeds the price. However, it should be noted that the definition of a fair price for an offer may vary in the player population and that 343 Industries (like any other business) will attempt to adjust the pricing in order to maximize the profits from each individual store offer. This is done by performing an analysis of how the price is inducing demand and attempt to maximize the product of demand (bundles sold) and purchasing prize.

I don’t feed the greed and i just want playable elites……

And the campaign to be good

I’m an OG Halo fan and I freaking love the pay model they’ve made for Infinite.

I got the game for free (no maps, weapons, or modes behind a paywall). Because I haven’t spent any money on Halo since H5’s Voice’s of War pack, I bought the $10 battle pass guilt free too.

So because 343 decided to go F2P overall, and let’s people pay for what they want, I get to enjoy the best campaign we’ve had since H3, and the best MP gameplay we’ve had since H3 (imo) for virtually no cost. I don’t like the store prices, so I haven’t bought anything out of the store.

Obviously there are people who like things enough to accept the prices though. I’m not going to get upset over other people valuing items differently than me, that would be crazy.

To go back to the original point I was making that seems to have upset you. Halo has always had wacky cosmetics, so I think people being upset that there are wacky cosmetics in the store doesn’t make any sense.

I’d have to disagree there. If we truly got to pay for what we wanted, all items would be up and separate, no bundles. Like a catalogue I mentioned earlier in the thread. That way, we truly could just get what we wanted.

I want those cat ears. I love cats. But I don’t want the charm or the armor coating. $10 is hefty already but to also have me purchase stuff I don’t want is really lame and keeping me from getting anything tbh. If I could just buy the cat ears attachment for a fair price, we’d be solid.

I never intended to upset people, originally, they upset themselves, I just wanted the ears, the complaints from all the people, showing how overly sensative they are about pointy ears make them worth more than the 10 i paid for it.

If the cat ears were seperate i would have only paid $5 max for them…

Been seeing this kind of preemptive deflection a lot online lately. Really sad discourse has come to this but it kinda helps me decide to just ignore a post or tweet because the person really just wants to tell at the sky. Eh.

Wishing the store had a la carte purchases is a pretty different argument than lots of people on this thread saying “goofy cosmetics don’t belong in the game and should stop being purchased.”

I can whole heartedly agree that a la carte purchases would be an excellent change to the store! I would have probably bought more by now than just the $10 BP if that were the case.

yeah that would be very nice and maybe even compliment a larger store front, I think the store should look like the HCS offers page with litle extras for the daily and weekly bundles… that way 343 gets what they want and we get what we want.

a seperate al le carte option would be very nice as I only wanted the cat ears or the classic halo 2 BR flash hider… or the anubis helmet.
