Lol we can agree to disagree
Huh? So ninjas aren’t humans?
Yea I just said it.
It looked too much like Crysis. Or even MGRevengence Raiden.
yeah I hate Gen 2 armor, had a very hard time finding one I liked… the only thing i liked was my arctic camo BR ,though i don’t like the boxy bR i like the classic one even the infinite one looks better if you ask me even if it doesn’t have the old flash hider.
Lolz
id argue not really
No, we can agree to disagree about the non normal armors.
I asked if you agreed that the flaming skull, ninja armor, and skull helmet were non-normal armors. Your apparently do not based on your response trying to contribute arguing
The stupid cosmetics like cat ears are just icing on the crap-cake. Core Halo fans lost when this game was designed to be an insultingly shameless treadmill for cosmetics from the ground-up in the first place.
Micro $ oft/343 intent’s was to create a long-term platform for revenue generated via micropayments that psychologically prey on the small percentage of players who will spend disproportionate amounts of money on cosmetics and that’s exactly what this game is. The monetization and gated progression are the most egregious I’ve ever seen in any game since EA’s infamous Battlefront II. Compare this to how MCC handles progression and unlockable cosmetics and its so far beyond insulting Its not even funny.
No one asked for a “”""“free”"""" to play Halo, M $/343 did it because they knew it would be insanely profitable and that they could just turn the game into a treadmill for cosmetics. The daily rotating cosmetics preying on FOMO, progression only being earned via challenges while challenges require specific gametypes or weapons or whatever when you currently can’t select the gametypes you want to queue for (you know, something EVERY OTHER HALO GAME has let players do) its just absolutely beyond the pail.
Cat ears and the like suck and don’t really belong in Halo in my opinion (no, they are far beyond any other “silly” cosmetics seen so far and I really don’t like a lot of the new ones added to MCC either) but they’re just a symptom of the actual, much, MUCH larger problem of the game simply being a shameless vehicle for cosmetics sold via micropayments. It doesn’t matter that they’re “”""""“just”""""""" cosmetic or that you get to play for “”""“free”"""" the financials behind it are the same and the effect it has on core game design, modes, features, progression, etc. is the same. Everything about the game is designed and tailored to subtlety (and sometimes not so subtlety) encourage the use of real money to purchase cosmetics. Why let players earn currency with in-game performance, why let them choose the gametypes they play to complete challenges when you can just arbitrarily not and make crap-loads of money as a result?
Excuses such as “I don’t buy them so I don’t care” or “I get to play for free so who cares” just perpetuate the problem and/or make it worse. It doesn’t matter that you don’t buy the cosmetics, you and I are not the target audience for them and M $/343 don’t expect the majority of players to spend money on them. They do however expect us to populate the game and create and maintain an environment in which the people who will spend disproportionate amounts of money on cosmetics will want to play and continue to spend money.
/rant
Also, I genuinely laughed out loud at this stupid filter that displays “M $” and “Micro $ oft” as an expletive replaced with -Yoink-, precisely what about that is expletive?
Then don’t buy them and never use any of the cosmetics, simple as that… nobody cares… Halo since halo 3 and onward has been about You making your spartan not you making a spartan that will fit into someone’s fan-fiction in the halo series.
Grow up and stop acting like a spoiled child because you don’t have the money to spend on cosmetics, or that the game isn’t how you want it.
Let people enjoy what this game has to offer, let peopled decide to give it a chance or play it, don’t try to force people into your way of thinking.
No, but this is how it is, so stop whining.
Thank you for your answer, I fear everyone else got lost in the mention of cat ears rather then my main point.
Lol dude relax if anything you’re the one acting the way you described about the other person.
This fight was lost as soon as fortnite copied the idea of PUBG and monetized with the first ever battlepass system. It was all downhill from that point because everyone knew loot boxes were already on their way out. But the battlepass was subtle and predictable enough that producers knew they could subvert public outrage about microtransactions enough by promising all these different perks that came along with the purchase. Perks that used to be a base part of the game itself. From that point it just became a game of psychological attacks on the fans by introducing extra “content” outside of the battlepass and in the store and leveraging that oh-so-familiar FOMO against the fanbases with these items. The battlepass conditioned us to be comfortable spending extra money once we already had access to the game, and the store took this comfort and added a layer of FOMO to supercharge our brains to crave the dopamine rush of putting on a new skin. It’s psychological warfare whether these companies realize and/or admit it.
“Only 23 hours left to buy this item until it’s gone…. better hurry up and spend before you miss your chance….”
It’s manufactured discontent. The developers have removed just enough of the game for us to feel like we need something more, but they havent removed so much that we feel like we should stop playing or do anything about it. Loot boxes were bad. Like really bad. Bad enough that even the United States congress had to get involved bad. Things like the Hawaiin representative labeling battlefront 2 as a “star wars themed casino” aimed at young children bad. But this? Well theres no gambling here, its just overpriced. And yet people pay for it because without it, they miss out on expressing themselves through their character.
TLDR: Fortnite ruined the games industry. We’re all being looked at as suckers who will pay absurd amounts of money for the most nonsensical items, and thus prove that we have no standards anymore. Hell, even this post proves it. People completely missing the point of the OP just so they can justify wearing cat ears…. We dont deserve to be looked at with respect.
Halo 4, Halo 5 and the mistreatment of the MCC proved that us OG fans lost the fight years ago man. This game is the cherry on top of this franchise being butchered,
Yeah I find it funny that people blame 343i or MS for the game being F2P… The reality is that no shooter can really be competitive as a paid game. Fortnite created a seismic shift in the industry in the same way Halo CE or Modern Warfare 1 did. It changed the gaming landscape forever I feel.
Then this post has gone completely over your head. The point of the OP is that people are willingly spending real world cash on something so useless. They’re saying that the current fanbase is incentivizing microsoft and 343 to continue to lock the interesting items they come up with behind a pay wall.
“Halo purist.” Theres nothing “purist” about wanting microtransactions to disappear. There’s nothing “purist” about wanting gaming companies to look at their fanbase as more than just a source of revenue.
Stop white knighting corporate greed and understand that this topic is bigger than just a pair of cat ears on a virtual helmet.
You didn’t even bother reading his edit. They arent even posting about the goofiness of the ears. They’re talking about the fact the people are shelling out money for customization options instead of taking a stand and pressuring 343 to add more free armors before they fill their stores with all the interesting items.
So you, you WANT to continue paying $10-20 per skin? Is that what you enjoy, mr. strawman that i created to show you how wrong you sound when you create strawmen.
In the future I’ll try to do better about going back and making sure to read edits to posts I had already replied to before they edited so I can adjust my previously posted opinion to better reflect my opinion of the edited original posts opinion so my post tells the edited posts entire points.
Sorry.
That’s a lie, the edit was made before your reply. Timestamps exist, sorry for nitpicking, but its disrespectful and only creates more problems than it solves.
And even if you did post before the edit, the point was still made clear as day before they edited anything, so again its just a matter of you not putting in the thought to understand what the OP is saying before you started typing, which again, is disrescpectful and creates problems. Just like this one.
There is a much darker side to cat ears. I will leave it at that.
“lol just don’t buy them :^)”
Covered that in the post you replied to, you’re missing the forest for the trees. It doesn’t matter if 95% of the playerbase doesn’t make use of the microtransactions. The game is still structured and designed to incentivize the use of real money to purchase the cosmetics. This isn’t a matter of “growing up” I’m just stating objective reality. Microtransactions are objectively anti-consumer, regardless of whether or not they’re cosmetic or affect gameplay. Your petty personal attacks just reinforce my argument, you have no leg to stand on, this is blatantly scummy anti-consumer BS.
idk 18 years I’d say I’m OG by this point. Anyone who joined before like, 2008, I can honestly count.
