EDIT/TLDR: Please Read whole Post, before responding. I don’t hate casual players or want them to go. I SUCKED at halo 3 but the game allowed me to improve (1-50) and become better. 343i can’t add gimmicks to make up for lower skilled players mistakes it doesn’t work and will sink Halo 4.
It’s time to do some straight talking
Casuals are poison to the Halo game, you are absolutely notorious. You feel because you play for “fun” and you “don’t care” you feel that you still deserve the same rewards/armor/credits/achievement as someone who worked hard for them, and rather than improving your own skills to get them for yourself you want the whole gaming community to be dragged down to your level by removing the thing that separates that the good players from the bad players, skill and Rank. Because of you inept ability to learn how to get better at the game (or intolerance) you want the 343i to cater just for you by making special measures just so you can’t be punished for mistakes and remove the team aspect so you can exploit the game broken features such as camping and betraying just so you get the extra points you need to get to the top rank, what a disgrace. The worst thing is that you will NOT STOP until the game is completely destroyed; somehow reach is not enough you want more and more until Halo is dead and buried and like I said you are absolutely notorious.
Destroying the Skill Gap
We all started like you, to get better and the game it requires practise and you will develop skill, yes it takes time (not that long) if you are willing and can handle a competitive environment you will get there. By removing ranks and the competitive feel (Equal Starts) you are destroying the ladder to getting better 1-50 is for everyone. Players will get match will other players of the SAME SKILL LEVEL, rather than embracing that you want it remove it and replace it with unequal starts and random skilled lobbies which WILL NOT WORK AND WILL NOT HELP ANYONE.
Changes are NOT Necessarily Good
You really need to snap out of this idea that “change is good” and that “Halo need to evolve”. Halo Reach “changed” this nearly SUNK halo, the population was halved! 250k to 90k and there was UPROAR on the forums and the community, Halo also gave it crown to CoD because of Reach effort to “change” it catered to players who want the game to be filled with gimmicks which are served on a silver plate, which DESTROYED the halo feel and gameplay. I don’t want Halo 3.5 but all you want is Reach 2.0! Innovation and Improvement please not Gimmicks and Removals.
Reach
Reach’s changes were crap. and we cannot afford to have another train wreck again that fragments the community and cater short spanned idiots, who can’t handle a competitive environment, who can’t handle losing and therefore competitive ranks need to be removed, and credits are thrown at them for “nothing” to make feel good about themselves as the buy meaningless armor.
Win as a Team, Lose as a team
I’m all for changes as long it isn’t crap changes. I don’t want changes which requires the gutting and removal of the halo feel, that are clearly broken and cater to “new” players, rather than the hardcore fans that have stuck to the game no matter what, Hardcore players have the best interest of the game but 343 SUBMITS to the IDIOTS who don’t know how to handle themselves in a competitive environment, and cannot be bothered to learn how. Get a grip you self absorbed moron the world doesn’t not revolve around you. Learn how to PLAY as a team, WIN as a team and LOSE as a team, and snap out of this FANTASY that you have to be rewarded for everything no matter how BAD you and the team does.
*Apologies for the tone, this is only to get my point across…

Once again, you are NOT the only one with a voice around here. Casual players are a big part of the community, even greater than competitive. You just can’t cater to sides; it won’t work that way. Everybody needs to be considered, and nobody left out.
Please, stop posting threads like this. They’re quite repetitive. If you want to tell 343 something, try contacting them through e-mail or other means.
Yes, because the large amount of individuals that don’t use forums (which are a minority of any gaming community no matter how you look at it) can influence the direction developers that they don’t communicate with at all.
Your use of the word “you” makes me think you don’t understand the demographics of this forum. Casuals are currently playing other games. If you took the time to register to this forum, you don’t fall into what I would call a “casual”.
That said…
Your argument that hardcore players know what is best for the survival of the franchise is stupid at best. Hardcore players may know what may be competitive, but they hardly know what makes for a fun game. Change IS needed; the slow kill times need to be left in the past. Quake and Counterstrike still have leagues based around the hardcore player… but Halo lacks that element. It needs the casual player in order to survive, and so it needs to adapt to what would bring the casual player in. Of course, it should still retain the spirit of Halo but sacrifices must be made.
> Soooo just from your title because I didn’t bother reading your post, casuals shouldn’t be allowed to play Halo? Is that what you’re explaining to me?
No, Im just saying 343i should bend of backwards to cater for them, it doesn’t work. look at reach for example Just build the game from equal starts and it will help everyone!
All gamers have no say in how a game should be, it’s the developer’s choice. If the developer chooses to look at the community they will take the view of the majority since that is the only fair way to look at a bulk of people and also the best economic decision. In short competitive and casual doesn’t matter when it comes to how a game is developed, only the majority.
When the game consists of 85% casual and 15% tryhard whos the real poison? Sorry more people would rather play and try to have fun rather than busting a blood vessel in their forehead because they get killed more than twice in a game.
i agree with a lot that you have said in the OP. reach was a trainwreck. the only people who actually think reach is performing are mostly casuals, IMO.
> Soooo just from your title because I didn’t bother reading your post, casuals shouldn’t be allowed to play Halo? Is that what you’re explaining to me?
naw, his post was basically saying that you shouldnt cater to casuals with stupid mechanics, gimmicks, and mechanics that promote playing like idiots.
why?
because 99% of casuals couldnt care less about game mechanics. they just want to have fun, and shoot things, and blow stuff up, and drive vehicles.
removing trash mechanics isnt going to lose the casual crowd. nearly all you have to do to appease them is put ‘halo’ in the title.

If Reach was designed for the casuals, then Bungie only proved they don’t know what casuals want. Slower kill times? LOL. Grey boring maps? LOL. Consolidating the number of weapons in the game while still leaving weapons that are clearly inferior to others for no good reason? LOL. I guess it is good that 343 is handling the franchise.
