Casual should have friendy-fire enabled

It just doesn’t carry over well in Ranked. I get hit with more grenades from my own team-mates than opponents, players that play casual then play ranked do not care where their nades go, because unranked has taught them not to care… Unranked is so different from ranked it feels like people get taught the wrong things, i.e not worrying about friendly fire, also relying on a radar which has been taken out in ranked, using the AR or Pistol which are also basically non-existent in ranked.

I saw a post before on here saying Unranked is too different from Ranked and at first i thought it should be like that, but the more I play ranked that more I’m starting to agree they need to be more consistent with each other.

Agreed. It’s not like it completely ruins the game for me or anything, but I’m not the biggest fan of having casual and ranked play so drastically different.

I wish it was setup like all the previous games where we had social, ranked, and hardcore. I liked that social felt like a practice arena for ranked, and then you had HCS settings relegated to their own playlists for fans of the hyper competitive scene.

Plus one turn friendly fire back on in all modes. I miss being able to kill a teammate and take his power weapon…I know it sounds grimey but I feel like this is a big part of halo that is missing in infinite. Besides that friendly fire makes the game more competitive, it makes you be a little more cautious about where you send your shots. Also tell me why friendly fire is off but I can still blow myself up with a rocket, that doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

This is especially bad when combined with no player collision. Now just as I’m firing a rocket at an enemy, a teammate walks through me and registers as being in front of me when I pull the trigger. So now the enemy doesn’t die, my teammate doesn’t die, but I do.

No thanks. That is one thing about old school Halo that I loathed. Got to the rockets before a teammate? Guess what, you just got shot in the back so that they can have rockets because some mentally 12 year old on your team wanted them. Not to mention the people that would just randomly go around the whole match betraying teammates on purpose to throw the game.

What is odd to me is the fact that betrayal with vehicles is still possible. I accidentally backed over a teammate while in a ghost yesterday and got a -100 betrayal score event for it.

Who are these people that are swooning over friendly fire? I’ve played so much Halo and I’ve never been killed by an ally and been like “boy oh boy friendly fire sure is great.” I swear to God, nostalgia is really weird.

If it helps people transferring to ranked gain better awareness then friendly-fire would help.

If it helps people transferring to ranked gain better awareness

If your only reason is this, then we should also remove the motion tracker and have BR starts in Quick Play as well to help those players better acclimate to ranked.

A lot of people have been asking for BR starts, I wouldn’t mind it. Also radar was never in ranked before, they don’t need to remove the radar from unranked, they should add a radar in ranked just like ALL the previous Halo games… There’s just no consistency between the two playlists, most games have similar if not the same casual and ranked settings.

Sounds to me like there’s a perfect playlist for players who want BR starts and don’t mind radar. They can play ranked and just get used to not killing their friends.

There’s just no consistency between the two playlists

You can say this about every single playlist though. This isn’t a real argument. “There’s no consistency between Fiesta and Quick Play because one has random starts and the other doesn’t.”

If you want to play a game that has friendly fire turned on, BR starts, and no motion tracker, jump into ranked. The people who play that playlist will eventually get used to worrying about where their grenades go. /shrug

Yes it is… I’m not talking about fiesta… you do realize fiesta is a completely different type of playlist… I’m not saying spawn with BR’s in fiesta haha… (man that was an interesting comparison)

On other games if someone spends 100 hours in casual learning the game then they can transfer that experience to ranked, currently in Halo you spend 100 hours in casual and you got to ranked, it’s a completely different game, you literally have to learn a new weapon, you have to use your hearing and awareness not just your radar like in casual, you have to watch you fire and not grenade team-mates which is happening to me at Diamond so it’s not something that people get used to quickly.

No you didn’t follow my argument. Complaining that there’s a difference between Quick Play and Ranked that should be changed is like saying there’s a difference between Quick Play and Fiesta that should be changed.

The BR start, motion tracker removal, and friendly fire change were all explicitly made to ranked to make it different from quick play. For some reason you’re laser focused on friendly fire, but then earlier you thought it would be fine to basically make quick play a copy of ranked. At which point, why even have quick play?

Isn’t friendly fire explicitly mentioned in the ranked description, by the way? They made a conscious decision to make ranked a bit more hardcore than casual quick play. They specifically made a playlist for players that want friendly fire. I just don’t understand why they should change other playlists to be more like a playlist that not everyone wants to play.

You don’t understand my point and I don’t think you ever will, I don’t know if you’ve seen the huge backlash from the community but their ‘conscious decisions’ aren’t exactly the best and it’s the reason people are complaining and providing feedback and that’s exactly what I’ve done, given my opinion. They made a decision of removing radar in ranked, I and other players don’t like it and are voicing our opinions.

No thanks, I prefer no friendly fire.

I keep betraying people with grenades when I go back to mcc though lol

If you think the issues from cheating are bad, just imagine how many trolls will come out from the scum of ftp with ff on in social.

Yup I totally understand this. This is how feedback works on a public forum. I’ve agreed with a lot of the feedback that over people have given, and then I look at your feedback and 100% reject the prescription that friendly fire should be enabled on Quick Play.
