Haha, people like you really bother me. “If I try, I should succeed. It’s not about winning, it’s about having fun. Everyone should get a trophy, not just the winners who won it.” Communism.
The CSR is not visible in-game so you don’t have to worry about people seeing your low ranking, or how bad you are at competing. You won’t have to worry about being bullied and people laughing at you.
If 343 actually put the time and effort that they have used to putting the CSR in Halo 4, into a REAL ranking system like Halo 3’s, then they would need to make separate playlists. This real ranking system would actually matter and vastly improve the game, while still catering to sensitive people like you who think they should get a 50 like everyone else without earning it. This way, you can still play social playlists and not worry about your ranking number. Perhaps they can simply add a “toggle rank” so you can choose not to show it. Done. Both sides win.
The CSR will still improve matches. So even though you and I both don’t care for it for very different reasons, it will still benefit the game and us as players.
And for the record, I have never had a 50 rank before. I certainly would still love the chance to TRY and see how well I can do, while comparing myself to other players…whether I am better or worse.
And for the record, your claim that the “minority competitive” players are the only ones who want a ranking system is not backed by any real data. How do you base that to be able to say the “minority” wants it only? I would bet that if many of the new players to Halo, who did not play Halo 3 simply DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE MISSING in terms of the real ranking system. Every single player I came across in Reach hated the Arena and how it sucked compared to Halo 3’s system. I would literally be playing RIGHT NOW if there was a real ranking system.
