Casual Gamers needs a better voice. (Mangler)

I mean ranked is focused around precision, map control and power weapons.

As we stated previously, it’s just a simple weapon spawn nerf. All that’s needed. The Commando was kinda broken in the beta, but they over nerfed that thing. I don’t think 343 knows how to properly balance their sandbox.

Heck, I wouldn’t even mind if they made the commando the starting weapon, it’s unique and best of both worlds I think for casual.

I know that’s all that is needed. I was talking about hypothetically what would happen if they did nerf the gun itself. And I know about the commando in the beta. It’s precisely the problem. It’s hard to nerf just enough. It’s easier to overnerf. Which is what would happen in this case too.

It probably would work as a starting weapon, because then people would actually use it. Right now I’m more likely to pick up an AR in ranked than a commando. Having commando starts would probably encourage using the sandbox.

It can be automatic, and be semi-automatic. It has a skill gap. I think it should just be for casual though.

This is how I would fix the commando: Lower it’s recoil by 15%, add 5 rounds to the magazine, keep the rof as is, keep the damage as is, reduce the bloom by 10%.

These numbers may not be high, but it’s extremely noticeable. Take the DMR from Reach for example, when they went down to 85% from 100% bloom, it made a world of difference.

They’d swap it out for a BR.

The only reason why I would not want the Commando as a starting weapon is because I use the AI that say “Grabbed a Commando” and I love when she say that, but if the point is to start with the weaker weapon and go find a stronger weapon I get more kills with the AR over the Commando by a lot.

It’s okay if someone swaps it for a BR if it’s a starting weapon. Starting weapons being not the best encourages using the sandbox.

The problem is with the Mangler is, up close it is one shot one punch kill and ranked players are saying it is too powerful which I do not believe it is heck against better players it is hard to get in close enough to get that one punch kill after I shoot them once because they either jump backwards or jump to the side, my kills mainly comes because they are not paying attention.

Yeah, against better players I’m more likely to try and go for the 3 shot kill with the mangler. Even swords are hard to get kills against good players, because you backpedal so fast (which I’m not complaining about).

OMG I suck with the gravity hammer, I feel it always takes two hits to kill someone no matter how close I am to them, but someone can always kill me with just one hit.

343 has said nothing about any nerfs, we just have squids in ranked unable to counter it and thus they complain. though the “discrimination” term you use in this post is a bit laughable…

You don’t know what you’re talking about. Heinz (who helps work on the game) already said they are looking at it.

Anyone who doesn’t think a 1 shot beatdown on the mangler is unbalanced is only saying so because they abuse it. The thing spawns every 30 seconds and is more useful than a sniper rifle.

than for rank matches they should change the tier level so it does not spawn so quickly and not nerf the weapon

My roommate gave me advice for the Commando, and it helps alot I have always tried it more long range, but he said it is more useful close to mid range and he was right.

There are three tiers of weapons in Infinite, the Middle tier of weapons will turn the locker red when picked up.

  1. Low tier weapons (Blue Bar Weapons) weapons spawn in lockers that will immediately start to load up a new weapon. Showing the time to spawn with a Blue loading bar. They come in three categories. In Casual weapons in the same category will use the same lockers as others in the same category. If you can’t find a mangler on the map it’s because some other pistol has taken it’s place.

Pistols:
Disruptor
Mangler
Plasma pistol
Sidekick(In ranked)

Precision Rifle:
Battle Rifle
Commando

Non-precision Rifle:
Assault Rifle(In Ranked)
Pulse Carbine

  1. Mid tier weapons (Red Bar Weapons) also spawn in lockers but, they will turn red when the weapon is removed. They will only turn blue and start to reload themselves when either the weapon in question despawns or runs out of ammo. The exception is in BTB where they act like Blue bar weapons with longer spawn times. These come in 4 Catagories.

Long range:
Stalker Rifle
Shock Rifle

Mid range:
Sentinel Beam
Needler

Close Range:
Bulldog
Heatwave

AOE weapons:
Hydra
Ravager

  1. High tier weapons (Power Weapons) These should speak for themselves, Spawn on plinths, have Yellow load bar. 3 Catagories

Explosives:
Rocket Launcher
CinderShot

Long Range:
Sniper Rifle
Skewer

Close Range:
Energy Sword
Gravity Hammer

If anything, they should just reduce the spawn rate for it in RANKED OR COMPETITIVE game modes. The mangler is such a good weapon in fiesta and BTB, and it is probably one of my favorite weapons in the game. Nerfing it makes it basically a regular magnum with bullet drop.

Blame 343’s skewed classification of weapons.
In all respects, Mangler is a pretty powerful weapon and belong on a “Semi Power” rack like the Heatwave and Shotgun. But for some reason, it’s on a “Pistol” rack, reserved for SK and PP.

This is also really weird considering Ravager performs SO BADLY but is considered a Launcher and shares the rack with Hydra. Likewise, Commando is so bad but shares a rack with BR. Heck, Sentinel Beam is so much harder to use but shares a rack with Needler for some reason.

None of these weapon rack classifications and cooldowns make any sense, I’d much rather they just let weapons spawn on grounds and be static non random every match. Mangler deserves a slightly longer spawn timer because of it’s capabilities is all.

Not only should they not touch the Mangler for reasons stated above, they should also revert the other dumb nerfs they made to the Ravager, Commando and Hydra. AR is fine as is.

Yeah, I don’t think the rack system really works as well as they thought it would. It was a nice idea, but because of how weapons are classified it sucks. And because the size of the racks needs to match the weapons, I don’t know if it’s an easy fix internally. Hopefully they do what you suggested. I know weapons on the ground don’t look as “classy”, but gameplay is more important.
