Castle Wars Playlist

I decided to play a few matches last night and it was actually pretty fun. Glad to see more fan made modes in matchmaking as well.

Somebody sell this playlist to me. The daily login announcement didn’t capture my interest on it’s own

I love this mode, its really fun to play. I do think 343 should make a map submissions thread for this mode though… ya know… if its not a temporary playlist. Hope its not!

good for warthog/mongoose kill comendations

Missing Triple Team again :frowning: wish it was a permanent playlist.

This is surprisingly a lot of fun, and it’s even more fun if you have a large group playing together. Last night my S.C. partied up and we jumped in and had a blast. One of the maps (can’t remember the name) has a bunch of barrels along the bridge between the castles so we would all jump in them and hide and confuse the other team. It worked great until somebody realized we were in there and chucked a grenade in. Easy overkill, whoops!

Loved Castle Wars since Reach PLEASE MAKE A PERMANENT PLAYLIST! its so much fun.

Es muy bueno, que habría puesto más vehículos

Yes! I really hope this stays as a permanent playlist.

“They’ve got a sword”
“Enemy has a sword”
“Watch out for the sword”

You don’t say…
XD

I love rushing people with an energy sword and just lashing out on them. Especially when everyone else on my team is doing the same.

My biggest benefit from this mode is that it is without a doubt the best place to grind mongoose destroyer commendations. At the beginning of the weekend, I had roughly 65 to go, and now at the end of it, about 12.

It’s a godsend if you really care about that kinda stuff. Just wait for an oncoming mongoose, crouch in line with it, wait till it’s in range, and then aim a plasma grenade right at the front of it. It doesn’t always work, but it does enough so that you can get 1-4 destroyer medals a match.

I actually just finished off this commendation by using this exact strategy. Did not take long!

For sure! It can be very dangerous in the right hands.

>
> Probably… but again, it’s yet another gametype that nobody is even asking for, that just comes out of nowhere from the depths of 343…
>
> And again, who are they trying to gauge the response of this game mode up against? The numerous amounts of casual gamers remaining? That couldn’t care less about what Halo becomes? Verses the droves of Halo fans that have left the game/series that left because of things like this? That’s not fair for those more traditional fans that are slowly giving up or already have, and it feels like Halo is becoming something else entirely, because the population demographics are skewed and thus, so are their metrics by which they base these game modes from.
>
> If 343 were to cater to fanbase as it stands now, we might as well be playing ranked Castle Wars, Super Fiesta, and Infection. That’s how it feels sometimes. Competitive players haven’t hardly even gotten additional Forge maps added to Ranked play. White Cell is well-made, but just feels like more of the same… Some of those Ghost in the Shell maps were pretty decent, too bad they aren’t supported. What are they waiting for? Some other well-made Forge maps, with more of a traditional Halo look and feel? Again, they are out there… What are they waiting for?
>
> Why is Mercy still a map every 3 games? Fix the ratios… Traditional/Arena players need some additional support! This is what Halo always used to be at its core… now this component of the game is being neglected and Social modes are constantly promoted. We got the aiming fix (never should’ve been an issue) and ranking system rebalancing (again, arguably should’ve never been an issue… this far into H5’s lifespan anyway).
>
> Where’s the new content and playlist support? Some of these issues we still have are complete no-brainers, and people wonder why fans get frustrated?

If anything, people stopped playing Halo 5 because it got repetitive. 343i was clever to make a Castle Wars playlist to mix things up a little and make the game feel a little more fresh. Halo 5 from Day 1 has catered a lot more to competitive people than it has casual people; people often found the game to be “too sweaty” and got turned off by it. Modes like this let people enjoy themselves and have some laughs. Let them. People didn’t leave Halo because one fun playlist was added for a short time. And saying that nobody asked for this is completely inaccurate. I’ve seen people ask for this for a very long time. As for these core game issues you speak of, they are completely irrelevant to this topic.

Our community has a serious issue with letting others have their turn to have fun.

> This is what I’m talking about… this is what PEOPLE are talking about… Meanwhile, 343 KNOWS that people want Snipers, and they go and give the community this? Or if they’re feeling halfway generous, they’ll put out Mythic Shotty Snipes… but that’s not SNIPERS! They claim that the numbers weren’t good enough to continue to support Snipers… but Breakout’s numbers ARE? I have an incredibly hard time believing that Breakout has more players than Snipers did (or WOULD HAVE if it was just available at launch, when it should’ve been…). It’s been heavily requested since launch! H4 didn’t even launch with Snipers right? And they finally put it in… Same mistake in H5, not at launch, people get upset, population slowly dwindles, and they blow it off an entire year before it’s implemented… within a couple months it’s gone again, because the numbers weren’t “good enough.” Gee, I wonder why!
>
> And at that point, what good are the numbers even anyway? It’s not an effective representation of your consumer-base because a huge number of them aren’t 1) playing regularly, or 2) got fed up with game/lack of content/lack of support for their desired ways to play.
>
> That’s what gets people ticked… it’s as if 343 is just trolling the community at this point. It’s like they don’t get it. Triple Team is also a fun take on Multi-team (could also be 2v2v2v2, to keep player counts down to 8 on Arena maps), another series staple in Social MM, but that’s just going to get removed for the cheese that is Castle Wars? When it could’ve been apart of an Action Sack refresh?
>
> Selective hearing at work, once again… It’s no wonder why half of the fanbase has left the game. It’s like they don’t even know their own product, or fanbase.

4v4 Castle Wars is extremely dull and boring, and so putting it into Action Sack will have very negative results.

I’d also like to point out that the reactions to this playlist have been mostly positive. Obviously 343i did something right if that’s the case. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely think Snipers should be a permanent playlist, but it doesn’t have to be one or the other.

The playlist has six different maps, each one with its own unique theme (Forerunner, Covenant, Sangheili, etc.) and layout. Four of the maps have power weapons at the center that players can fight over and utilize to turn the tide of battle. Completing matches in this playlist is a great way to finish commendations you weren’t able to finish before (not to mention its RP payout is really good for an Arena playlist). Gameplay can be chaotic and hilarious, especially when vehicles are flipping around in the air and splattering unsuspecting victims.

It’s a really good time.

Not a Fan of Castle Wars but Love the screenshot opportunities. And when there’s Screenshot Oppotunities,There’s screenshots

Stickies, swords, mongoose, scout hogs and just lots of fun. If you solo queue, expect ties. But just have fun and finish your warthog and mongoose commendatiins

A full party i was in all hid in the buckets one game and the other team kept trying to find us. Obviously we lost, but thr driving back and forth trying to find us was great
