It’s quite the fun mode, but the sword v sword hit detection is spotty at best.
Sometimes clashes will result in an instant winner, sometimes you’ll trade on the first hit, and only on occasion will it actually clash like it’s supposed to.
Same with spartan charges. Sometimes you’ll get the kill like you’re supposed to (or trade if they also charged you), but a lot of them time it will clash somehow, or give you a trade with someone that was standing still.
Oddly enough, I’ve found a fair amount of consistency in which maps are in my favour, and which maps I’ll have perfect timing on my swings but still lose like I didn’t attack at all.

I mean, they made it so that any gravity hammer or sword kills you get in grifball count for your personal stats, but don’t contribute toward your spartan company’s power weapon commendation.
So I’d say it’s possible.
It’s fun so far, but quite laggy. It’s annoying when I lunge at someone, hit them, but lose the fight and not get the kill. Or sometimes I just lunge right past them, due to lag reasons. I feel the gameplay is also quite tedious, respawning, running, getting a kill, being killed. Repeat.

Indeed. And two others have a special Gravity Hammer in the middle. I tried to place weapons that made sense with the theme and design of each map.
Castle Wars in Reach while it’s working in 8v8 show how it’s really not supposed to, I don’t know for Halo 5…
Both teams attempt to rush towards the enemy base, first clash, one team wins or someone rush past the fight and is soon attacked by someone defending the base and another respawning player, it’s the main problem with 8v8, it’s very hard to push deep enough in the enemy base, the hardest part is to get to the flag and take it, its of course ten times easier to move the flag once it’s down to ground level but still hard near the enemy base (insane respawning time for the flag) .
Ranged attacks should stay in their bases but shouldn’t be an easy to use weapon, a wraith is fine for what the gametype is, a castle wars.

Yeah I’m pretty sure it’s always swords, there’s some map variety but without different weapons it’s kinda meh.

Defender of the flag, seems to be one of the harder ones. To put it in easier terms I’ve finished mongoose kills faster than that commendation.

its really hard getting the vehicle kill commendations unless the person you stick is stupid or there’s a gravity hammer
I love the new playlist, me and my friends always used to play it in custom games, but we hid invisible teleporters that went piles of nornfangs and spnkr primes
Why isn’t Castle Wars apart of Action Sack? It is like, a TRADEMARK Action Sack type of mode…
This is what I’m talking about… this is what PEOPLE are talking about… Meanwhile, 343 KNOWS that people want Snipers, and they go and give the community this? Or if they’re feeling halfway generous, they’ll put out Mythic Shotty Snipes… but that’s not SNIPERS! They claim that the numbers weren’t good enough to continue to support Snipers… but Breakout’s numbers ARE? I have an incredibly hard time believing that Breakout has more players than Snipers did (or WOULD HAVE if it was just available at launch, when it should’ve been…). It’s been heavily requested since launch! H4 didn’t even launch with Snipers right? And they finally put it in… Same mistake in H5, not at launch, people get upset, population slowly dwindles, and they blow it off an entire year before it’s implemented… within a couple months it’s gone again, because the numbers weren’t “good enough.” Gee, I wonder why!
And at that point, what good are the numbers even anyway? It’s not an effective representation of your consumer-base because a huge number of them aren’t 1) playing regularly, or 2) got fed up with game/lack of content/lack of support for their desired ways to play.
That’s what gets people ticked… it’s as if 343 is just trolling the community at this point. It’s like they don’t get it. Triple Team is also a fun take on Multi-team (could also be 2v2v2v2, to keep player counts down to 8 on Arena maps), another series staple in Social MM, but that’s just going to get removed for the cheese that is Castle Wars? When it could’ve been apart of an Action Sack refresh?
Selective hearing at work, once again… It’s no wonder why half of the fanbase has left the game. It’s like they don’t even know their own product, or fanbase.

They probably want it to get as much exposure as possible. In Action Sack, you aren’t guaranteed to play it because of all the other gametypes in that playlist. I think that it should eventually get put in Action Sack though and let something else get its own playlist.
Personally I am happy to see a CTF playlist, even if it is Castle Wars. I would prefer a more traditional CTF playlist, but I will take what I can get.
