I’m not fond of the Shade Turrets or Prophets’ Bane either. I prefer a straightforward meat and potatoes tug of war.

I removed Spartan Charge a while back to prevent these issues from happening, but the team decided to leave it in so that players could play the mode like they would any other. They said they would monitor player feedback, though, so thank you for posting yours.

As much as I’d love for it to stick around, 4v4 Castle Wars isn’t very fun.

My problem with Mausoleum is that second level in the middle and the grav lifts that lead to it. This makes it darn near impossible to return your flag if the enemy gets it because you can get it back to your castle sooo -Yoink-ing fast. Sunaion is ruined by the shade turrets and the Prophets’ Bane. Sure, all you need to do is destroy the shades, and the Bane is countered by nade spam and simple numbers, but if one team manages to destroy the other’s shades, they immediately gain a huge advantage. And a skilled player with the Bane can get all the way to the other team’s flag without anyone knowing.

When I was designing the maps, I wanted to make sure that each map played pretty differently from the other so that gameplay wouldn’t get stale or repetitive. The Undercity of Sunaion was meant to be the craziest out of all of them; I wanted players to feel like they were in an actual war (given the map’s theme) with all of the different factors at play. I understand that The Prophets’ Bane and Shade turrets can be very tricky to deal with, but one thing to remember is that teamwork is essential in Castle Wars. You have to work together to take Banes down, and you have to use the map’s design to your advantage to infiltrate the enemy base and take out the core. Pro tip: you can actually hide on either side of the enemy base’s stairs in Sunaion, wait for every single enemy to flood out of the base, and then sprint in and destroy the core, which ultimately takes down the Shade turrets. This is quite easy to pull off and I’ve done it almost every game of Sunaion that I’ve played. I did realize, though, just how tiring it could be playing on a map with so much going on at once, which is why every map after Sunaion was built with a simpler design in mind.

As for Mausoleum, the intention was to split player focus between the top center and the bottom center so that players weren’t doing the “tug of war” in the exact same place every single time. Given the map’s design, I also purposefully left vehicles out of this map (with the exception of a single mongoose) to make sure that players didn’t find it too easy capture the enemy flag.

The one I played you had nothing but swords and it was really dumb.

Castle wars is pretty cool addition for arena and a fun way to get rp

I really think they should make a in-game announcement for the playdates in the message of the day area, I miss every single playdate.

I’d have given you it via Xbox but pretty sure you removed me and Wrench doesn’t know much else either about that

It’s a good game type if you know how to play. It’s honestly pretty fun to have 8v8 sword battles.
