Carrying more than two weapons based on size

What if we are able to carry more than two weapons at any given time? Like I spawn with an AR and BR but pick up an smg or I have just an smg, then pick up a rocket launcher but after this can only pick up a pistol or another weapon of similar size. What do you guys think of this? Just getting this idea out there.

I’ve always thought it would be cool that you could have dual wield-able weapons which you could wield on each hip, in order to pick up a third weapon.

You’d have to double tap Y to access them, and in doing so it would drop the third weapon

The only problem is in the current button layout working out whether to pick up a third weapon would become problematic, unless it automatically adds dual wield weapons to your hip.

This also would coincide with my wish for them to bring back dual wielding

i don’t think something like this is necessary.

I would not be on board with this. Halo has always forced you to carry 2 and only 2 weapons.

  1. From the player’s standpoint, being able to quickly switch to the correct weapon is pretty essential to a firefight. Let’s say that you have an AR, a BR, and a Railgun that’s empty. You’re in a 1v1 against someone with a BR at close range, using your AR, and you have to reload–however, when you go to switch to your BR, you end up switching to the empty Railgun and that one split-second that it took to press Y twice ends with your body slumping to the ground.

A rare kind of scenario, but it’s enough to piss people off.

Although taking weapon size in consideration for allowing people to carry three weapons certainly does prevent people from carrying a Sword, Rocket Launcher, and a Sniper at once, there’s always the fact that not all power weapons are huge and some are even smaller than your regular starting weapons.

Although this can be fixed by using damage instead of size as a restriction to whether or not you can carry three weapons, I don’t see a reason for it.

I think perfect dark zero did something like this.

You have 4 slots, each weapon takes up certain slots. Pistol, SMG, needler, etc: 1 slot. Rifles, shotgun, etc: 2 slots. Rockets, snipers: 3 slots.

It would be a neat way to balance awkward weapon combos (like having rockets and a sniper)… But I don’t think its necessary for halo.

Related note… I think its odd that I can only carry 2 of a given type of grenade. Why not allow mix and match up to a single max?

It’s actually kind of funny, but I’m not really in favor of this either as it doesn’t really have anything to offer. I just wanted to see what everyone else’s reaction to it was.

Having a varying number of slots based on size would also be confusing. In addition to the already mentioned flipping to the wrong weapon problem.

Just a word of advice, you should probably make your views on the matter pretty clear in the OP so that people do not assume that you’re trolling. It’d be a shame to see you banned for a misunderstanding.
