Carmine Armor

Be really cool if the game shipped with unlockable carmine armor from the gears of war series. Be even better if they had his voice.

I’d prefer if they didn’t.

Let the games exist in their own universes

I’d agree with you if the precedent wasn’t already set with Emile and Kat appearing in Gears. It made for a fun cross-promotional opportunity that probably would be well-received if it was done again in a non-intrusive way.

Exactly. I see no reason why xbox’s other big shooter ip can’t share armor/characters for cosmetics. I didn’t play a lot of Gears 5, but I absolutely loved how they brought those two over to the game. I remember everyone playing as them when that game launched.

I’d be happy with an armour set inspired by the Gears armour. A strait up copy might not fit the Spartan frame very well. The people in Gears have far bulkier proportions IMO.

I don’t like the idea at all. It breaks immersion, when playing Gears 5 you’re distracted by Halo and Terminator. Same would happen with Halo.

Don’t forget Halo 4 had Locus armor which was a nice and unobtrusive nod.

You mean like Spartans cosplaying as Shredder with Katanas strapped to their back? That seal was broke 13 years ago.

They had a female spartan that looked very much like the chief in Dead or Alive I believe. They have the arbiter in Killer Instinct as well.
I agree that cross game has no appeal to me in regards to the narrative in the campaign.
But having Carmine as playable armor in multiplayer only just sounds fun to me. Also when you think about it. Carmine is the only character out of all of Microsoft’s franchises who’s appearance looks like he could be a spartan. So in dont really see this as a big strech.

Gears mp already breaks immersion when you have access to dead characters like RAAM and Dom, or multiple versions of the same character on the field at once. Gears mp doesn’t take itself too seriously and is very obviously not tied to the narrative at all. Halo mp, on the other hand, has canon relevance under 343 (whether that will continue in Infinite is yet to be seen). I don’t think a straight rip of Gears armor would suit Infinite because COG armor does not provide the same defense as MJOLNIR, but I think a COG-inspired set of MJOLNIR would be a nice nod to The Coalition, esp 343 allowed usage of Halo characters in Gears 5. Now since 343 and Coalition are both Xbox 1st-party devs, it’s may not be a situation like with H3 where two devs made a deal to use each others’ assets. But, I think its very plausible that a COG-inspired armor set, or perhaps a Gears-themed weapon charm or skin or emblem, could be in Infinite as exchange for Kat and Emile being used in Gears 5.

Bold. I agree 100%, but they’re all Gears characters, it’s quite annoying playing Gears and having the illusion (that’s better than immersion I think) of playing Gears broken with Halo and Terminator characters that don’t belong imo. What’s the limit going to be, Fortfight bananas ?I like the idea of inspired armour though, it’s certainly better than having CoG, Locust and other game characters in Halo.

Carmine looks more halo than majority of 343s armor designs

Cool? Doesn’t change my opinion on it. Lol

It looks more like CQC than anything already

I’ve been wanting some Gears influenced armour, I think it could be a cool fit.

Doesn’t fit the established universe

As mentioned before. Neither does the shredder armor with katana sword in halo 3

I’d like to point something out. That with the exception of a few armor sets. It’s really hard to differentiate most of them on the battle field.
This is something gears does well. Especially in the first one when they didnt allow duplicates in the same game. So when someone said carmine has the snipe, the whole team knew who was the priority on the battlefield. It also making revenge killings a thing and not so much a coincidence.

I want to play as cool gears guy in my video games. I think the helmet at least would be very fitting.

I mean It’s a video game. It’d be cool to see a crossover. It’s not like having a gears armour set immediately destroys the canon in the same franchise with a whale and pig helmet. Or gun skins. Glowing fire heads.
Also are we ignoring the fact that Halo 3 crossed over with Ninja Gaiden and everybody loves the Hayabusa armour now?

Hayabusa armor from Ninja Gaiden was a favorite. Security from Marathon. Guest armors and easter eggs are great.
