What if you run out of ammo with the BR? You can’t use AR long range.

Plus when H4 comes out all I’ll play is competitive 4v4/MLG playlist so there won’t be many long-range engagements.

I prefer the carbine. Sure, the needle rifle looks pretty damn cool, but only need one needle based weapon.
Neither plus they’re gonna make new weapons like that grenade launcher from the trailer. And I don’t want a BR or DMR back, I want something new and effective
Neither of them: It’s a new Halo trilogy have a new variety of weapons. The only weapons that should return are Halos signature weapons, and ones that have been in every Halo game.
Human:
-Assault Rifle.
-Sniper Rifle.
-Shotgun.
Covenant: If they are not in the game, then Forward Unto Dawn can have the weapons on board.
-Plasma Rifle.
-Plasma Pistol.
-Needler.
-Energy Sword.
Carbine of course. The carbine killed faster than the BR in H3. That gun was awesome, carbine all day.
Halo 3 beta carbine.
Whichever one is more Elite related as the Elites will be in Halo 4.

Between the two, I’d prefer a needle rifle. I just find it to be a more interesting gun conceptually. Also, I didn’t find the NR or the carbine to be useless at all. Having a Covie counterpart gun with slightly different aspect isn’t a bad thing. I think some tweaks could have been made to improve it a bit, but leaving out guns like NR or carbine completely just doesn’t make sense with canon.
I don’t want to be a canon stickler, but leaving Covie guns out completely because they’re “useless” would kill some of Halo’s rich lore. Alien weapons are always interesting to a curious gamer.

Besides being less accurate. The Needler does the same thing. There’s no point of having weapons that are basically the same thing for the same side.
Carbine, it was a slightly shorter range version of the BR and could kill faster as long as you were EXTREMELY accurate.
