Carbine love thread

i still love it. it’s an assist machine, but i’ve also gotten a surprising amount of yoinks. I can almost strafe away from DMR’s.

i don’t use it on rag or settler, but it’s been fun going back to it in CQB.

when they balance it, what should they do? 2.5x zoom? faster ROF? 1-2 shot buff?

it would be really nice to see the DMR get outclassed in short/mid range by the BR and Carbine and still have the advantage on the long range. i could deal with that.

i’ve seen some threads out there where they say nerf the DMR ROF by .25, leave the lightrifle where it is, and give the BR/Carbine a 10% damage increase. i wonder how that would work?

What they should do: change it from 8sk to 7- remove random spread

Man that gun is beautiful. Definitely requires them skills.

I love it. but don’t use it unless I pick it up or get in fiesta.

I might start using it again but I use the BR or LightRifle depending on the map.

I do love the Skin for the carbine though.

The Covenant Carbine is wonderful.

I enjoy the carbine, its a weapon that does require skill to use and feels satisfying when you pop a enemy player

I love the carbline but as you said in the text its really an assist machine people always steal my kills and i know that its a team game and all that but i generally get 12 assists per game while using the carbine i would love to see it buffed so it could compete properly with the dmr and br

I love the Carbine. That and the Lightrifle are my babies. I can’t wait for it to recieve that 1sk buff lowering it to a 7sk gun (at least I assume it will receive this considering how bad it needs it). I usually use it with thruster pack, Plasma pistol, and plasma grenades. Although if I was serious about it I probably SHOULD go with regen field and either of the other two grenades…

Surprisingly the carbine is extremely effective on Harvest. You wouldnt think so based on how big it is but there is also an extreme lack of cover in certain areas and a lot of the fighting ends up taking place in the mid range area thanks to the hilly terrain. I’ve found that this lack of cover is the best asset to the carbine. So long as you are decent at aiming I have also found the flinch of being repeatedly shot makes it unusually difficult for other guns to effectively return fire against a carbine at mid-slightly longer than mid range.

I love my Carbine. It needs a RoF buff and an accuracy buff, and a damage nerd IMO.

I love the Covie Carbine, I really do. This is the only primary weapon I use on the gametypes with custom loadouts. Not to presume, but I’ve become pretty skilled with it. But maybe a faster ROF would give it some edge. The damage is ok for me.

As I posted in the official ‘Weapons Feedback’ thread, I would like to see the Carbine be buffed to a 7sk and have its RoF nerfed ever so slightly. This would give it a min kill time between 1.40-1.47s. The current min kill times of the DMR and Carbine are 1.47s and 1.63s respectively.

I call her “Green Monster”. She’s a beauty to use. A slight nerf would be wonderful, but the carbine is still fun to tear up DMR users with.

I have always loved the Covenant Carbine. I don’t really like the reloading animation for it in Halo 4, but when I see it, oh you better believe it’s coming to me.

Switched over from the carbine to the DMR a while back. I was frustrated by its lack of range. Still, I keep a loadout with it for when I feel like using it again. Fell in love with it in Halo 2 and I don’t feel like giving it up just yet.

Its a good clean up weapon now. Could be a better overall weapon later.

Turn the Carbine’s shooting mechanics into something closer the CEM6.

Make the Carbine fullauto capable at its current RoF. Make the bloom so that if you rapid fire just slightly slower than fullauto then you get a “rest bloom” precision shot.
If you fullauto or use a turbo-button, the Carbine does not reset its bloom and so it fires wildly like it does when fired at max. RoF as current.
Or perhaps have it set to 2-shots are precise and then the 3rd becomes imprecise so that 2-shot bursting, a carry-over effect from other fullautos, seems useful.

Being a carbine, a weapon designed for short ranged yet precision encounters… I figured the fullauto would have carried over from the NR in the first place :slight_smile:

It’s a great weapon in Spartan Ops, thanks to the Covies being so generous in leaving ammo lying around.

Also, wrt the DMR, just reduce the aim assist/bullet magnetism. You don’t hear many people complaining about the light rifle, and that’s because it’s hard to use in comparison.

The benefit of nerfing the DMR in this way is it keeps the lovers happy. No change to the shots to kill, no change to the range, no change to the RoF, so they’ll have less to complain about. If they do complain, they’ll basically be saying they can’t aim properly, so will be less inclined to do so.

Playing against a coordinated team of carbine users is a sight to behold.

That rate-of-fire spewing green death from a team!? Overwhelming.
