Capture the Flag question

With the days slowly approaching the new Halo game, there is a question I would like to ask fellow gamers.
When it comes to capture the flag, have you ever wondered why Spartans can’t run with the flag?

I will say that it offers more of a challenge to capture the flag by not running. What’s your thought or thoughts?

It is odd you can’t run beyond trying to balance the game but at the same time people have found out how to carry the flag evn faster by throwing sprint slide jump combo all the way across the map its gross.

Balance is the only reason needed.

For lore purposes? Let’s just say the flag is very heavy. You don’t even run at normal speed with it, typically holding the flag reduces your run speed.

You can run with the flag in Halo Infinite so your thoughts have been answered.

Personally I would say I hate the Flagnum (pistol out while holding the flag), I hate the kill target on a player with the flag. In Halo 4 it was ludicrous you can always see the flag carrier, in Halo 5 if someone engages an enemy player with the flag they are marked for the team. I’m indifferent to this, I can see both benefits and drawbacks. I think the game is more fun without it personally.

I think the beauty of capture the flag is you can give away your position to be fast, or be slow and stealthy. It’s great to be able to have both of those options and being able to run it fast is absolutely essentially in flag games for higher skilled players. Very boring without it. That being said I think the speed at which you can capture the flag in Halo 5 is a bit much using the slide boost throw.

Do take into account that the multiplayer is a “battle simulation” for training purposes. So it’s not that odd that playground rules apply on training matches and it seems not running with the flag was one of them ;-). I can still remember that in CE you could actually drive vehicles while holding the flag, that got corrected fast in H2 lol.

I’m very fond of the identification choices of the flag carrier on Halo 5. You are able to sneak if you keep hold off the flag and are not hit by an enemy but everyone is alerted of your position if you drop it or hit. The second part really helps rally the troops because usually nobody is on comms.

on the flagnum I’m pretty indifferent. I have some amazing memories battling while holding the flag but I’m also a big supporter of the vulnerability of the flag carrier. In both being to defend itself and it’s mobility, so being able to sprint is really a no go for me. At least not with some form of movement impairment.

I would have to agree with Ken2379’s points to your question. That being said, I would have to side with traditional 343 limitations on this one. I like their idea of forcing the flag carrier to not only slow down but also only have the capability to fire a magnum. These restrictions on capture the flag not only forces you to work as a team but also limits the score rate of flag capturing. I mean, just imagine if you were playing with your friends against just an average casual team. You and your friends would be scoring left and right against a team that isn’t communicating with each other. For all you know, you could be having one of those matches that could end in 15 captures to none. I’m still on the fence for Infinite’s running with the flag, but rules and limitations for an unreleased game are still to be determined. I never really liked the H5 ctf combined with all of the armor abilities.
